WELCOME TO THE SEVENTH ARENA THREAD!!!!!
— erm — Sorry for the incoming panel of words, but I have to explain rules and provide exeamples, to help newcomers.
What is the Arena?
In short: The Arena is basically pretend fights online. You put on an Avatar, throw he/she/it into the thread, and have he/she/it fight other avatars to see who comes out on top. Simple dumb fun, worked for many years, and will probably be worked for many more.
So, The Rules: (don't blame me for recycling the examples from the last edition, I had no inspiration for this)
- Standard Tv Tropes rules apply! Most of them apply here anyway (etiquette and such) and I'm not responsible of what happens to you if you breaks them.
- Play as your avatar. Everyone will assume your avatar is who you’re playing as, as it should be. This isn't such a severe rule: if you break it once, it won't be a big problem, you will only be reminded, but if you do several times...
- Be reasonable. If your character’s likely going to take a hit, let him take a hit, please. If whatever character’s getting shot at by a machine gun, he/she/it is PROBABLY gonna take a bullet or two even if its nonlethal. Example: Steve Austin lost track of Geese Howard in the middle of a fight, when Geese suddenly comes up with a kick to the back of the head. To be fair, it's pretty unlikely Steve’s gonna see it coming, unless Geese gives a warcry beforehand, or another indicator of his presence.
- Ghosting and Autohitting. This is when you either dodge attacks continuously to the point of ridiculousness, or write posts as if your attack is absolutely guaranteed to hit. While normally an easy to understand rule, sometimes there’s a bit of confusion. Let’s take the move Aerial Ace from Franchise/Pokemon for example. Ingame, it never misses, no matter how evasive the enemy is. Instead, of that, however, you could write that the Pokemon using the move is instead “slicing at an incredible speed”. Still highly likely to hit, but it gives room for the character to dodge if they’re able to. As for ghosting, sometimes characters might do a thing where they turn invincible, example being the Medic and whoever he’s paired with’s Ubercharge. For this, I’d say decide on a post limit for how long it lasts, and don’t abuse it.
- Original Characters: If you wanna play an OC, just notify the mods first, and then try to inform other players.
- The Fourth Wall Rule: The fourth wall’s always had a bit of negative history in the Arena, but in this generation, it'll pass it this isn't too much relevant to the battle. If you want to have a character who is already an established “wall breaker” character make a quick little remark on the “Almighty nerds who run this showbiz”, go ahead. If this gets out of hand and people start using it to give these characters advantages (Example: Franchise/Deadpool is facing off against Crocodile. Deadpool suddenly looks at a wiki page to learn that Crocodile is weak to water, before tossing a bucket of the stuff at him), there will be consequences and the rule will be thightened. If anybody uses this to complain about other players unironically, there will be severe reactions from the mods.
- Character Balancing: I’m not gonna make people unable to play characters they like for whatever reason, but if you’re worried that a character might be TOO powerful, message me! We can work out checks and balances together. Example: Report Siht wants to play Superman, but he’s concerned that he might be a bit too busted for the Arena (which, well, he’s right by a wide margin). He messages me, and we work out a few checks and balances to make him a fair character (in this very case, it'll involve kryptonite, for instance).
- Character Bans: Please no religious figures, unless it’s either a fictional representation (many Shin Megami Tensei characters, as an example), or a sillier take on somebody else (Jesus Christ, except he’s ripped and has guns and smokes, or stuff like that). If, however, you abuse this to soapbox, or even intentionally try to piss off other people about something (Jesus Christ except he’s an insane normal man who gets put down easily), this rule will be restricter further. No one likes a bigot. Characters who fight in an explicitly sexual manner will also be banned. This includes stuff such as Senran Kagura characters, unless you ignore the “they get stronger with less clothes” thing and just play them with their other abilities. I wanna keep this at a relatively low level in terms of sexual themes. When it comes to gore and such though, well... unless extreme cases, go nuts.
- Gun Laws: If you’re playing a character that can easily tank attacks that aren’t excessively powerful, then at least let them take SOME damage from those things in this thread. I’m using guns as an example, because it’s a good one. Say John Rambo is fighting off against Goku. In Dragon Ball, characters far weaker than Goku can take bullets without flinching, so for fairness sake, reduce the durability to a semi-reasonable standpoint. You don’t have to have your normally invincible character die to a single pistol shot, but it’s gonna ‘’hurt’’ a bit still. And about guns, small concealed guns are allowed, btw. Don't abuse it, please.
- Entry Rule: If there’s a fight going on, and you wanna jump in, don’t have your entry post be “My Character comes in and attacks Your Character”. Instead, try something more like this: “My character appears in the Arena, looking around confused a bit, until he sees [[Videogame/Overwatch Reaper]] maniacally laughing as he shoots at Franchise/Kirby. Readying his gun, he rushes to assist the puffball”. This helps get your character involved, and gives the other players an opportunity to react to the new guy.
- Mind Control! This is a really fun and interesting idea, but it can also be abused. So if you wanna have your character possess someone and make them do something they wouldn’t otherwise, try having some sort of “inner battle” type deal. The exception, of course, is if the other player allows it to go through easily anyway.
- Snipers: If you’re playing a sniper character, it is recommended to give the other players a warning that something is off. A strange glint in the distance, an odd red dot moving around, or even, the sniper takes a shot, but either misses or grazes. This makes a sniper fight go from horrible one-sided to far more entertaining. Now the sniper has to be on the move to keep his target from closing in, while the other character is now aware that someone is after their head, and has to stop them without being taken out by the next shot.
- If the setting allows it, nameless NPCs may be used as simple props (if you want a psycho murderer to start a fight by murdering innocents, go ahead. If you wanna have someone drain another NPC’s life to get a little energy back, go ahead, within reason of course). Of course, if this is abused, I might have to remove this, but that’s unlikely to happen.
- Bosses: These are mostly gonna be GM controlled, but if a player really wants to try their hand at playing a boss-like character, this can be negotiated with mods. I’ll go over these at a later time. Don’t expect to see them often, though.
- Looting. This has never really been a concern in the Arena, so to make it quick: If a character dies, another is allowed to take their stuff, with permission from the player. A character respawns with their stuff if they haven’t been played for a little bit, but if the character respawns immediately after, try playing around with them not having their toys (or at least not those they used in the previous fight), might be fun.
- If a player has been absent for long enough that the action stalls out significantly, feel free to continue on without them and have your character do something else. Preferable wait time is a full 24 hours.
- If you want to talk about something, in order to differentiate this from the usual battle text, use spoilers to show this has nothing to do with the fight currently going on.
- No nukes pls.
The current setting is a ruined post-apocalyptic city in the modern era. Settings change when a significant number of players want a new setting, and a vote is held on what setting that is. This should take a week or two, which realistically translates to months, but I won’t stop action during the vote.
If anybody has any questions, ask to the mods, I only copied and rehanded the rules from the previous version. Without further ado… Let's start!

The Artania somehow crashes into the Norway, further damaging the latter.
(MV Artania): Hey, don't blame me, blame one of the gods!
(SS Norway): ...Ow.
The collision led Fries and Puffball to wake up once more, checking the damage.
(Fries and Puffball):
(Puffball) Ouch. Just ouch.
(Fries) Well look on the bright side, that acted as our alarm clock! Let's get fighting.
(MV Artania): So, we're watching?
(SS Norway): That's our point.
The Mauretania skips out of a time machine (well, she accidentally stumbled inside) and crashes into a different part of the arena.
(RMS Mauretania): Owwwwwwww...
Menwhile, the Norway, the Artania, Fries and Puffball hear a warp-like sound, followed by some metal crashing and bricks crumbling. A faint "Owwwwwww..." can be heard after.
(MV Artania): That must've been painful for her.
(Fries and Puffball):
(Fries) Yeah, rest in peace.
WHO PUT A DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE ON THE ROAD!?Okay! Let's go! What's your name anyway?
As he said these words, Sunraku dashes towards the girl and triggers the Glowing Piece
skill.
You face the Divine Punisher, Virtues!
-Saying that, Virtues immediately summons a pair of humongous mechanical arms
◊. They form closed fists, thrusters blaring to provide counterforce, formidable enough to stop Sunraku's skill on its tracks-
Hope you can give me some fun!
-Her right mechanical fist swings into a jet-powered right hook — and, without wasting any momentum, immediately transitions into a gigantic spinning lariat-
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.Meta Knight reappears: after tanking Sunraku's attack, he accidentally got stuck in one of RMS Mauretania's propellers, and just now got free.
Well, that was embarrassing...
Meta Knight punts the ship, which flies in the air, and is pulverized by Meta Knight's personal spaceship, which was passing by.
Oo oo ah ah~azerty04, you there? Do you want to keep going?
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.Yes
What? Why did I saw a ship being thrown in the sky at a ludicrous speed??? And outside of that...
After parrying Virtues's lariat, he then equips Gilta Brille again and shoots a huge crystal to the robot-girl's legs.
Give me books! Give me ALL YOUR BOOKS!!!!!-The projectile hits Virtues right on target, knocking her off her feet — that is, if she's not propped by the thrusters mounted on her giant mecha-arms-
Show me more of your projectile game!
-She suddenly jets back in a zig-zag pattern. Her Iron Fists aim towards Sunraku and launches a pair of Mini Missiles (which, despite their name, are actually homing energy bolts). To mix things up, the Floating Units above them fire a stream of fast, unguided Photon Blasts-

Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.explosion sounds
The smoke caused by the explosion goes away but... where Sunraku was, there's nothing. Vanished.
As Virtue go away, looking for another opponent, Sunraku reappears, with another helmet (this one looking more like a SF one) and accompanied by a bird mecha.
Sunraku, with his Waxing and Waning Tôgetsu, suddenly dashes towards Virtue, as his mecha bird (Suzaku) starts to rise in the sky.

Give me books! Give me ALL YOUR BOOKS!!!!!Took your time to put on some new clothes, huh? Well, whatever!
-Virtues reacts to the assault not by dodging or guarding, but by pulling back her right fist. Her feet are firmly anchored, holding back the enormous force built up by the right thrusters-
Come on!
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.Sunraku suddenly stops and throws a dagger from his inventory instead.
Do you really think I'd de bumb enough to rush towards your humongous arms just when you start a Charged Attack with'em??
Give me books! Give me ALL YOUR BOOKS!!!!!Absolutely!
-Rushing in would be the better option, in fact. Once Virtues steps off, the sheer momentum of her fist overwhelms the comparatively small force of Sunraku's knife. She pays the knife blade stuck on her shoulder no heed as the mechanical arm swings at her opponent with devastating force-
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.He equips Gilta Brille again.
As Sunraku dig the stinger of his right arm's weapon into the ground while yelling, the crystal he thrown earlier to Virtues suddenly grows up to a height of four meters, veering those giant mecha-arms a bit upper (but instantly shattering into the process), wich allows Sunraku to duck the attack.
Wow, that was close! My turn now!
He then dashes again toward his opponent, while his mecha birds start diving toward her too, with its wings growing energy blades as it gets closer to the ground and the cyborg.

Give me books! Give me ALL YOUR BOOKS!!!!!Going for a pincer attack? How about this!
-Given their surroundings, Virtues takes a quick step back towards the mouth of a tight alleyway, to cut the possible angles Sunraku and his bird can approach her. Then she sends her Floating Unit forward to deploy Interception Beams: a criss-crossing grid of low-power but persistent and stunning lasers-
-Meanwhile, she thrusts her Iron Fists forwards, seemingly gathering power for another charged attack-
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.As Sunraku dodges some more lasers by hiding in the buildings, his mecha-bird Suzaku slashes the buildings of the street Vitues was hiding in, then Sunraku jumps out of the slashed houses and proceeds to attack again.
Not this time!! EAT IT!!!
As he yells this sentence, he triggers the skill Airgetlám
with his left punch, targeting Virtues' face.
-Cover equals concealment in this particular case; Virtues underestimated Suzaku's ability to slice through solid concrete and got a big gash across her body for the trouble. This also creates an opening for Sunraku's crit-boosted skill to land squarely on her mug-
...Gotcha!
-She's not one to waste an opportunity, though. Virtues grabs his extended arm, the perfect position for both of her Iron Fists to trap him in their grasp, attempting to convert this grab into a rocket-assisted powerbomb against raw asphalt-
Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will. While the fight is ongoing, somehow Fries and Puffball join in on the action! The duo splits the other duo and turns it into a three-way.
(Fries and Puffball):
(Fries) You gotta have three teams now! Try this! (grabs Virtues with both hands and idk, throws her away?)
(Puffball) It's World War III now, but downscaled! (grabs Sunraku with her mouth lmao) It's important I steer you away from my bud before we continue.
(Fries) I've never felt that strong before!

WHO PUT A DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE ON THE ROAD!?I had to do a bit of retconning on an earlier post because I forgot the weapon I took, fixed now
Did I REALLY got bitten by a puffball while held by a ridiculously big mecha-hand?????
He unequip Gilta Brille and equips Tôgetsu again, and try to use the few space he got by this move to escape.
...
...
It was a failure. Since he also don't have any mana remaining to hide into Inventoria, he's cooked, but he still has a last card to play: Exceed Charge
. He unequip Tôgetsu again, equip only the right part of Gilta Brille and use the few amont of space he has to thrust his arm into the mechanical hand holding him, triggering his skill. The explosion destroys him, but also Virtue's arm.
-Thanks to this rather unexpected sequence of events, Virtues is first blown up by Sunraku's self-detonation, then got grabbed mid-air and thrown into a nearby wall thanks to Fries-
Haha, that was great!
-The Apostle stands right back up from the rubble, as if the significant amount of wounds all over her body isn't slowing her one bit. This spunkiness is promptly shot down when she catches the sight of her busted right Iron Fist, courtesy of the Exceed Charge-
-Still, she turns around and points her comparatively-intact left Iron Fist at Fries and Puffball-
So! You two gonna be my next opponent or what?

Nothing seems to have changed. But perhaps one day it will.

What manner of malformed Felyne is this? Confused by its manner of speech and its odd smell, the Lunagaron begins barking and snapping at the supposed Felyne.
Always remember to hydrate! (A message from Snoopy)
