I just hope it's not censored this time around (Admiral's D word was in the PAL version of Corruptionnote , and then worldwide in Trilogy).

Teba in Breath of the Wild also released a "damnit", so I don't think Nintendo is too cagey around minor swear words this time around. Maybe.

I don't remember hearing "Damn it" in Breath of the Wild. And I put over 400 hours into that game. Where was that?

And when/where did Sylux swear in a Metroid game?

[up]After he's injured by Vah Medoh, if you return to the Flight Range before completing the dungeon, you can find Teba. It's dialog only.

Wow. That's so easy to miss. I looked it up on YouTube and found it easily. Interesting minor curse word used literally only once in a moment that's not even pivotal!

If we're going into other games, Fire Emblem has been using damn since at least Path of Radiance if not The Blazing Blade. Awakening has a fair few craps, and Three Houses has a bastard, with a B.

So, could Prime 4 include "shit"?

I take it none of you have played either Xenoblade Chronicles X, or Xenoblade 3 then? 'cuz swearing is common in both of those. You'll hear everything from "damn", "bitch", "shit", as well as British vulgar slang (since the English voice actors in the main trilogy are all British). Eunie, in particular, is infamous for it and popular among the fandom because of it. Nintendo's been using strong language in their games for awhile now.

Yeah, but that's technically from a second-party game so...

[up] The Xenoblade series is a first party franchise, Nintendo owns Monolith Soft and the series is co-owned between them. That's why both company names appear on each game.

I had to wait minute and 20 seconds for the first real swearword and it was awesome.

[up] She uses several British swears to: "mudder" = "motherfucker" and Brits use "arsehole" instead of "asshole".

In fact, Xenoblade 3 even invents several in-universe swear words: "snuffin' sparks" (one of Eunie's favorites) = "fucking bullshit". And "sparks sake" is their way of saying "for fuck's sake".

I mean, it's true, but on account of not really taking off until the switch I personally tend to just... kinda lump it in with "not quite Nintendo" franchises. Like, it has that Shantae energy, you know?

There was mild swearing in Xenoblade 1 and X (anyone who's played the latter will very much remember "asscaves"). The first S-bomb was dropped in the first chapter of Xenoblade 2, which was a small shock when I heard it the first time.

[up] I'd say the first real one Shulk's now legendary, "I'll KILL YOU!!" (you know the one).

That's pretty strong language in its own right, but justified in context.

[up][up][up][up] What do you mean by "Shantae" energy?

But I do see Xenoblade as similar to how I see Bayonetta. Both were non-Nintendo franchises until Nintendo got directly involved and paid to make them exclusive.

Xenoblade is a Nintendo series (which until recently had to list Monolith separately due to mumble contracts and stocks mumble).

Xeno is a metaseries which includes Xenoblade and started with Xenogears on the PS1.

So is Monolith considered 1st party or 2nd party?
