I won't blame anyone who doesn't have the money to play games (specially old ones), and turns to emulation to have fun. But anyone who says they are doing a good thing by pirating videogames is completely ridiculous, and really just shows how self-centered they are.
It's like those people that said they only pirated Tears of the Kingdom for the sake of vidoegame preservation, doing it over one week before it launched. People like that just give a bad name to those who really care to preserve the history of videogames.
For 3 months. We'll see what happens after that.
This confused me for a moment until I realize you are probably responding to a talk on the Nintendo Switch topic about SEA eShop, not Nintendo Switch 2 (here), in other words, you're on the wrong Switch topic

Oh no, Sterling preaching to their own choir again? And waxing about piracy as usual? Surprised urging people to pirate isn't giving people the eyebrows. They pretend not to be the usual gamer mouthpiece trash when they are no more different.
It's kinda relevant tbqh since eshop will be used in Switch 2. With that said I didn't realize it was on the other thread lol
Nintendo has definitely dropped the ball with this launch. The consoles price isn't actually the problem, the problem is that Mario Kart World is 80$ when people would have been more willing to accept 70$. Part of the problem with the pricing of the game is that everyone knows there is going to be DLC for the game meaning that the 80$ is less buying the game and more of an entry fee, when the DLC is done how much will this game have cost, possibly 160$. Then there is Nintendo Switch 2 Tour which is a game that should have been a pack in title, yet they have decided to sell it separately and charge for it. Along with that Nintendo has made the Switch 2 version of Breath of the Wild just the base game rather than release Breath of the Wild Deluxe with the DLC included. When you are re-releasing a 8-year old game on your new console you include the DLC. Game prices are the one thing really wrong with this launch but they are some of the most important things to get right, I mean your new console is pretty useless with out fun games to play, and Nintendo got them wrong this time. This screw up with game prices has them come across as stupidly greedy, and cost them a lot of goodwill.
I’m actually expecting the Switch 2 to start out as a repeat of the 3DS’s launch. Granted there’s a good chance it’ll not happen, but I’m wondering what Nintendo would do in the event that it occurs.
Check out Rogues Gallery Transplant: The GameTrue plus there is the Mario Kart World bundle. I mean if you are picking up the Switch 2 you will probably be picking up a game as well so that would already put you in the 500$ range so it would just be better to pick up the Mario Kart World bundle, even if you did pick up a extra game it wouldn't really be that much more expensive then just picking up the Switch 2 and a game anyway.
Let's drop the piracy discussion since discussion about justifications for piracy is against the rules. Thumped the post that brought it up.
I got a rock for Halloween. On the one hand, I agree with you in principle. On the other, they aren’t really re-releasing BOTW on Switch 2. The “Switch 2 Edition” is the same Switch 1 game it’s always been, just repackaged with a code for a patch that upscales resolution and frame rate and whatnot. That patch is also available separately for existing BOTW owners and gives the exact same result. To include the DLC with it isn’t really fair to those who already bought the DLC and now would have to pay again.
Nintendo could remedy this by including the DLC with the patch, and also giving the patch for free to those with the DLC.
So turns out Nintendo Switch 2 edition games have everything in the card
, no codes and stuff.
While it wasn't Sony or Microsoft, I do remember 2K/Take Two getting flak for having the first $70 game since the 90s in NBA 2K21.
While a good chunk of it is Nintendo fans feeling "betrayed" by Nintendo, I think a hood portion of it is just being the first, especially with the economic condition current going on.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."While I get that Nintendo could have been clearer, most people should have been more patient and level-headed in reporting this instead of letting their emotions boil over.

"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."The article says:
True enough, but the flipside is that, if these games are on Switch 2 carts, they can't be played on a Switch 1 even though they're Switch 1 games with an otherwise optional upgrade. I was hoping for the other way, because I'll likely still have a Switch 1 in my household after upgrading, and so I made that assumption. Now I'll need to decide which version of Metroid Prime 4 to get.
It's more of a tech demo/manual than a game, and to be honest, I think the only people who are going to care enough about it to buy it, are people working for the competitors (a.k.a. Xbox and Playstation people), and only because they were ordered to

Telling people not be upset over iffy pricing is just Toxic Positivity my dude, and while having a level headed response its fine, kneejerk reactions happen, and thats never gonna change.
I just won't get Mario Kart World when I do get a Swtich 2 eventually

I don't think it's really toxic positivity (at least in one sense). It's more about logical thinking. Sure you have a point about emotions always taking over but more people really need to take a moment to breath and try to think things from a different perspective. Even if everything is unlogical and is just wtf.

She/Her | Currently cleaning: N/AConsidering that in an interview regarding the Switch 2 that Nintendo had to stop Doug Bowser from talking (According to VICE) that That not everyone may be able to afford Switch 2 games and that the Switch is available for people can't afford it
in an eerie echo to Don Mattrick (Another former EA exec, amusingly) that if you don't have the internet to use the Xbox One, just play an Xbox 360 instead, I think people have more then enough of a right to feel angry about how The Switch 2's PR has gone.
...Which is the same case for the other consoles. You can't put a PS5 edition's disc in a PS4 and play it either.

Guys, you don't get it. It's totally okay to steal this non-essential luxury good because it's a little more expensive now. What do you expect people to do... just go without video games they aren't willing to pay for? Don't be absurd!
