Ur-Example : The oldest known usage of a trope, could be unintentional.

Cutscene, for example:

  • Ur-Example: 1966's The Sumerian Game is a text-based game that has an introductory slideshow to explain and set up the gameplay
  • Trope Maker: 1980's Pac-Man has "coffee breaks" that reward the player with short skits between levels, but are largely disconnected from them
  • Trope Codifier: 1981's Donkey Kong tells its story through the animated scenes between the levels, setting up the idea of cutscenes as a narrative device
  • Trope Namer: the term "cutscene" was coined for 1987's Maniac Mansion by developer ron gilbert, who described them as scenes that "cut away" from the action

not every trope needs to have all four, and it might actually be difficult to find examples of tropes that do
