Huh fan-art of Ghost and Walker, talk about an unexpected pairing
Also Ghost desperately needs some white in her costume. Without the mask there's nothing distinguishing about her outfit.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The first new mutant will be Maggot and his maggots will be Jim Henson Company animatronics
Audiences will praise the practical effects even as they ask “Maggot? Really? Really??”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI don't know about the comics, but to me it looks like that when Bob dies, the Void brings him back to life with severe memory loss. It happens after the failsafe kills him, and it probably is also what saved him from the serum and caused the Void to manifest at the OXE lab.
regulation pigeonVoid's rampage is probably one of the worst things to happen to New York in a while. Cause it appears all of Manhattan was affected, so even though the whole thing was only like 5 minutes I can't imagine it was a pleasant experience for people reliving say sexual assault or abuse.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."tbf this isn't the first time they pulled a No Endor Holocaust. Like they kinda skimmed what snapping half of the universe would do on that moment.
Cross posting from the main MCU thread.
What I find interesting, is that Thunderbolts it makes three movies in a role where the main villain is not defeated in a fight. Cassandra Nova, Leader, and Void are all beaten through methods that don't end in punching them. Nova was beaten by overloading the Time Ripper, Leader by talking Ross down and proving him wrong, and the Void is defeated by comforting Bob. This is probably going to continue with Galactus in First Steps. I just find that neat.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadGive it 2 years.

I mean, every so often you need a guy who is so despicable you actually want to see him beaten down. Because that's the way real bad guys often are. It's just that except Nova none of these have quite that much of a despicable aura, and Galactus traditionally isn't that type, either.
Please remember that, ultimately, fictional works of entertainment are just that.![]()
I am not complaining to be clear. I find it a good change of pace.
But on that same spirit of fairness, it's never that bad of an idea to recognize in advance the fledgling beginnings of a pattern. Maybe it's two and done, and we get back into punching villains' lights out before long… in which case, fair and dandy. But if it's a longer term thing, we'll know EXACTLY when it started.
Self-professed Wild Card who thinks cynicism isn't so bad.I think FOFD was more mocking certain parts of fandoms’ tendencies to turn “trends” like into mountains from molehills, and… yeah. Since it was brought up, the “twist villain” thing is a good example. It didn’t happen all that much, and most of the times it did it made sense for the story, but people starting reading it into everything - even places that didn’t even do it -and claiming that villain writing in animation was dead or whatever.
The MCU is experimenting both with more powerful villains and more sympathetic villains, and in this movie both at once. And in those cases, we’re likely going to see more stories in which heroes win by taking alternative means.
But… yeah, there’s probably going to be people who make a big stink out of how this means the MCU doesn’t do villains “right” any more or something. It’s just how fanbases are these days.

Variety is the spice of life. Thus far I think they've done a good job with intentionally or by accident keeping them feelling distinct.
Nova basically rejects the offer and does get killed by the heroes, albeit not in a straight fight. Sam talking down rulk and the Thunderbolts empathising with Bob feel pretty different.
Galactus we don't even know what they'll do yet but it'll probably feel more like Strange and Dormammu than any of the other three.

With Galactus, you usually pull MAD on him, trick him, or convince him to go away

(9) Sorry that wasn't purposefully directed at you. Just the idea that we're praising this idea now but I suspect it will work against the MCU in due time.
Right now we praise it for the innovation but the trend of villains being heroes of their own stories, having a point, or being Non-Action Big Bad will become a superficial accusation that the MCU doesn't go back to the old black and white conflict.

The hierarchy of power in the Marvel universe is about to change.
