So anyone find any funny moments in this game? I just got the game in my hands now and plan to play it when I have the chance. I have the perfect image to suggest for the Funny page, but right now, I'm waiting for more examples added before I do so.

I don't think anything will be as funny as your fanart/avatar, Shadao. [lol]

Like I said earlier I find the Perspective Flip inherently funny but that's not so much a moment as it is a vibe.

Slumber Dojo is pretty funny.

Yeah, the general premise is funny enough, especially Zelda having to deal with all those wacky NPCs Link normally helps. She even gets to do the Cucco collection quest.

I know I've compared Echoes to Autobuild before, but really the system feels more like an ability to store all sorts of bizzare stuff in your inventory without the obvious logical conundrums that would come with it otherwise. So a closer comparison with TOTK would be an ability to create your own Zonai capsules to store devices you find in the overworld for later use, instead of getting them from the dispensers.

Zelda, however, can also create Echoes of monsters to fight for her, which would make her closer to a Pokemon trainer under that setup.

I'm partial to the Darknut/Keese pairing as a "Tank and Distraction" squad myself.

The monsters move in a much more dynamic and varied way than any other isometric Zelda that's for sure, presumably to make the monster-on-monster fights more interesting.

All what the hell, I decided to offer the funny image into the image suggestion.

[up][up] To me, the gameplay seems more akin to a cross between Animal Crossing and Pikmin. All the stuff that Zelda puts on the world from beds to pots to crates feels like something out of New Horizons. Which makes sense given that the game started off as a Dungeon Maker. I can definitely see aspects of Pokémon with the monsters, but it also reminds me of Pikmin in that the monsters are completely autonomous.

Funny moments? Well, I don't laugh out loud, but I do find it amusing everytime Tri phases through a wall or other obstacle to look at something, then asks Zelda to follow them, like it would be just as easy for her.

Helping the ranch find their lost horse was pretty funny. It was just on a small island in the center of a pond. Just, chillin. Didn't look distressed or anything. And very close to the Ranch, too. I don't know if they looked very hard.

Some siedquests have you showing an echo monster to an NPC. One of them wants to see a Peahat because he saw it once and thought it was pretty and wanted to show it to his wife... Not realizing its a monster. I also don't know how a Peahat can be seen as pretty, they've always been one of the more weirdly terrifying Zelda monsters to me.

Monsters do look kind of cute in this game's artstyle tho... [lol]

I beat the first dungeon mid boss using the Darknut to stall and throwing pots at the back of Link's head.

I figured that was somewhat the intended method given you get the Darknut just before the fight. It's so slow though that probably 75% of the hits were from Zelda. I used froze the boss right before the Darknut was going to strike a few times.

For the boss itself I used Keese + the Sword once its weakpoint was exposed.

I am quite enjoying how different the game feels playing as Zelda. I'm doing a lot of dodging at a distance while using summons which is surprisingly fun!

A bit mixed on how much they've drawn from BOTW. Not sure how I feel about that.

Jabul Ruins as a dungeon is Kind of boring. A little bit too simple. Honestly, it plays more like a Breath or Tears dungeon then anything else. There's not even a miniboss, unless you count rooms where you're locked in and have to defeat a monster mob as a miniboss. I guess you can say Jabu-Jabu was the whole Zora area's miniboss? But hey, if you prefer simplicity out of your water dungeons, Jabul Ruins might be the one for you.

I've been forced to watch a 13 year old girl play this game since she has my switch but I gotta say, she really looks like she's having fun.

Maybe she'll actually let me play it too.

Has Impa ever had a brother before?

Nah, this is a first, IIRC. Kinda nice that the games have started giving her family though, between her older sister Purah and granddaughter Paya in the Wild games and now Lumberry here.

I hope the game sells well so Nintendo doesn't get scared off from making more playable Zelda games/sequences.

Just got this game as a birthday gift from my sister, time for me to finally actually play as Zelda in a mainline Zelda game.

[up][up] This game is set to do well and is scoring good with reviews.

Plus it's got brand name recognition, so the future looks bright for Zelda's status as a playable character.

Now all we need now is a mainline Ganondorf game and the trio is complete.

Currently at the halfway point of the game. I think this is definitely my favorite Zelda game in terms of overall structure; TOTK was a bit too freeform at times for my taste, but EOW hits a good balance between the open exploration and puzzle solving of BOTW/TOTK and the more linear story and gameplay progression of ALTTP/ALBW.

Plot spoilers ahead for about the halfway point of the game.

Ah, that good old Zelda trope, the "Second-half plot shake up." Saved Hyrule Castle, and off on the next leg of the journey! Also, Holy Eldritch Abominations, Batman! Whatever captured Link was NOT Ganon! Did this thing kill Ganon in this continuity to use as en echo? Or am I going to find a Stilled Ganon by the end of the game? (That's just me speculating, don't tell me). I do find some of the terminology towards Link and Zelda vexing. Link is still "The hero" and Zelda is "the priestess." Is Zelda not a hero too? Especially if she has to be the hero to the hero. This might just be something that bugs me, though. Anyway, putting aside the Main Quest for now to check out for any new side quests (and clothes now that Zelda can change. Gerudo outfit, here I come!) in the previous regions.

I just got to what I figure must be the halfway point myself, and I gotta say, I love how the puzzles are so open-ended with so many ways to solve them, yet at the same time, mostly you do still have to engage with them and not just skip over them.

Pits and staying out of reach of foes are easier now though. Thank you, Flying Tile! And, its a self-removing Echo, so I don't even have to worry about erasing it.

I can see why they made falling harmless. There are plenty of parts that would be frustrating, disproportionately stressful, or at bare minimum just discouraging creativity if you had to worry about how many failed attempts you could get away with.

I feel like this is one of the few games that actualy makes Link being a Heroic Mime canon, in-universe.

Oh nice, new variation of this game's Hyrule Field theme. And I was wondering when the game would get around to using Zelda's leitmotif, too...

I'm in the middle of the Gerudo desert dungeon now. Extremely minor and likely pointless lore tidbit but I find it interesting The Gerudo Chief uses a Trident as her weapon and presumably symbol of authority.

Honestly, Peahat is such a Disc-One Nuke. It completely trivialises any enemy I've faced in the first couple of dungeons, including the dungeon 1 midboss. It's fast, durable, flies, hits enemies on water in the air and on land, and minces the frustrating Tektites. Slices, dices, makes julienne monster, and many things struggle to hit it because of its spinning blades. It's honestly my go-to land monster at this, admittedly early, point.
