So, in the Narm cleanup thread I said I wanted to do a cleanup of the Narm.Music subpage, and asked for clarification on two points. Based on the responses I got (basically not being sure), we could use a wider discussion on what counts as narm in music. Specifically, two points:

  1. Does a song count as an entire work, or can it be counted as a moment? The cleanup limits narm examples to specific moments due to otherwise getting into Examples Are Not General issues. There have been a lot of "anytime x does y" examples that I've scrubbed, but due to the unique format of songs, and especially their length (anywhere from less than a minute to more than an hour), this becomes a rather unique issue.
  2. Does a song's popularity have any influence on whether it counts as narm, and more specifically, can the moments that make a song unironically popular be narm themselves? I brought up The Hollies' "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother", which is listed as an example of Narm to try to get an answer to this, and while it was agreed it doesn't actually qualify as written, the bigger question still does stand.

Basically, what rules should apply to narm examples in music? Because the rules for narm in other works don't really fit one to one with the idiosyncrasies of the musical medium. Also, the page is throwing a too long warning so pinning down what counts can help avoid an unnecessary page split.
