Atomfall is a action RPG from Rebellion that takes place in a 1950's post-apocalyptic Britain with trailers showing a very-Fallout vibe

So is "Fallout esque" becoming its own fanmade gebre like Soulbourne?

A long time ago I thought Atomic Heart was either British or Russian Fallout. Now we have this and Fallout London.

Atomic Heart is more Russian Bioshock.

Is it really Fallout if the colour blue exists?

Plus, this game is partially inspired by real events.

Calling it, and this thread, "british fallout" honestly seems kind of limiting. Cant the game just stand on its own merits?

There's particular aesthetic and tone that I associate with Fallout, that's also widespread enough to be a genre of sorts.

Basically, the genre of a fallen or decaying retrofuturistic society with cheerful propaganda contrasted ironically with the aesthetics of post-apocalypse or decay. I would probably call this genre "Bathos Apocalypse" or "Retro Apocalypse".

Examples would include Fallout, Bioshock, We Happy Few, I believe Atomic Hearts as well but never played it.

The extended gameplay trailer, some interesting bits like no standard currency but a barter system so no Wallet of Holding

Initial reactions are coming in, seems fairly positive with compliments to a worthy Spiritual Sequel to the Fallout series

Good!

Now, let's see if one in Russia should come next.

[up]At 1st I thought about the Metro video game series but checking on Wikipedia and it turns out to be an adaptation of a book series.

In any event, it's good to hear that Atomfall's promising.

We have Metro and Atomic Heart for post-apocalyptic Russian stuff. Though admittedly they lack the satirical charm of Fallout and Atomfall.

I'd like to see a Japanese take, or perhaps French.

[up]I'd second a Japanese take on Fallout, especially one that satirizes the post-war Showa era.

[up][up]I almost forgot about Atom RPG though it's more of a homage to Interplay era Fallout rather than Bethesda era Fallout.

@Lone Courier 0: Try the STALKER games, that's about as close as you can get to what "Russian" Fallout would probably play like. The games aren't very satirical and noticeably more creepy, but the roleplaying/survival aspect is top-notch. Except that, well, it takes place in modern-day Ukraine, and is made by Ukrainians...

Just started playing. So far, the controls are good and the enemy AI is surprisingly dynamic. The graphics somehow look both a bit outdated and good at the same time, especially the scenery.
