"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I'm interested to see where this goes. I hope that the next trailer released will have some gameplay footage.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."This gives me the impression of an RPG Maker-style horror game. Emio for Smash.
The legend has returned.Calling it: Emio will be Nintendo-exclusive at first, then after like a year or two it'll be released on other consoles. Remember Resident Evil 4 and GoldenEye (2010)?
To be fair to the ResetERA poster, they repeated several times that it was just speculation based on what they saw and shouldn't be taken as definitive fact. It isn't their fault that people picked it up and are acting like Bloober is 100% making the game, and they seem to be pretty miffed about it.
My personal hope is that it's being produced by Nintendo EPD7. The only games that division has put out in the past eight years are Metroid: Samus Returns (with MercurySteam), the Famicom Detective Club remakes (with MAGES), and Metroid Dread (MercurySteam again). I'd like to see them lean into the FDC side of things and become the "edgy" development team that leads production on more mature mystery/horror fare (and 2D Metroid, which is horror-adjacent anyway).

Breaking news! Nintendo Australia just uploaded their teaser
, and it gives some insight to the content of the game.
- Australian Classification Board gave it a MA15+ rating for "strong themes, violence and suicide references"
- Office of Film and Literature Classification gave it a R13 rating for "violence, cruelty, domestic abuse & suicide themes"

I'm hoping that this game will have some sort of interesting gimmick.
I'm reminded of one of the first horror games I played on a Nintendo system, Nanashi no Game, and how it used the fact that it was a Nintendo DS game to deliver some very interesting gameplay.
There was also that one game for the Wii, Calling, that had a particular encounter that would result in strange messages being sent to your Wii mailbox.
It'd be really neat if this game did something similar. I guess we'll just have to wait and see, seeing how all we have is a 15-second trailer.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."I'm not holding my breath on this coming true, but I think it'd be pretty neat if this game turned out to be a horror RPG in the vein of Sweet Home.
I'm guessing it's not going to be that though, but it's a bit of wishful thinking from me. I won't be bummed out if the game turned out to be something else.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Might as well share that it seems pretty certain that this isn't a Bloober Team joint. In addition to the developer freely teasing it since last year, something Nintendo would definitely not let them do before they announced it themselves, Bloober directly stated in a Polish article a few days ago that the Nintendo exclusive Project M that they're working on (no, not that one. or that one) that everyone speculated could be Emio is actually slated to be the first game released under their new publishing label Broken Mirror Games
. And Nintendo probably isn't out here doing an internationally coordinated marketing stunt for a game they aren't publishing.
So if it's not Bloober Team, then what exactly could it be?
I was thinking maybe they got Junji Ito on board like FromSoft got George R. R. Martin for Elden Ring, but honestly the trailer would have more spirals and Body Horror if such is the case.
I also thought maybe Remedy Entertainment because the dude in the trailer almost seems like something you could find in Alan Wake...but honestly it could be anything at this rate.

The synchronized cryptic posts on every Nintendo twitter account and You Tube channel and the page on their website make it a near certainty that Nintendo is publishing this. Doesn't necessarily mean it's being developed internally of course. Nintendo's previous horror IP were developed by third party studios.
But the funniest option would be that this is a Nintendo EPD project pitched by a known Nintendo producer or director.

Opening a thread for Emio: a mysterious new game teased by Nintendo for the switch.
The trailer is age restricted so I’ll just post the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/VbhwwG-QvGQ?si=7Dc-OIeVNbfviEg_
