I've seen The Gumby Movie on both VHS back in the '90s, and when I bought it on RiffTrax. Frankly the latter made me realize how messed up that whole world is.

Or the incident in 2011 where a convenience store clerk got robbed by someone in a Gumby mask
and the clerk described the mask as "Green Spongebob".
I love how the first line of the article is "A convenience store clerk in San Diego didn't know who Gumby is."

So in light of a recent announcement, and seeing a lack of any other dedicated Gumby thread, I decided to go ahead and start a new one, for discussion on Gumby both old and new.
So first off, from Bento Box Entertainment comes not one, but TWO new Gumby shows
.
Gumby Kids comes from Deeki Deke, who wrote on the first season of Disney’s Mickey Mouse shorts and was head writer for all three seasons of Netflix’s The Cuphead Show!
In the show, Gumby is the friendly, green, shapeshifting architect and city planner for Gumbtasia, a new city open to all outcasts, misfits and dreamers from nearby fantastical lands. Determined to build a Gumbtasia that works for everybody, Gumby often winds up in the center of conflict and chaos – but nobody is more adept at adapting than a shapeshifter.
Joining Gumby in Gumbtasia are best friend Pokey, Prickle, a cranky half dragon, half dinosaur, Goo, an open-minded and free-spirited flying blue mermaid and The Blockheads, Gumby’s incompetent, annoying, yet harmless, foes who encroach on Gumby’s role as City Planner of Gumbtasia.
Deke will write and exec produce alongside Stephen Davis, former EVP and Chief Content Officer of Hasbro, and Still Entertainment’s Will Davis.
Stephen Davis and Bento Box Head of Production Dana Cameron will attend [the Annecy International Animation Film Festival] as they shop the series to potential buyers and co-production partners. It is being set up as a 52-part series, featuring 11-minute episodes, for kids aged eight to 12.
“We want to bring the character to kids, a lot of kids don’t know Gumby but the parents are the ones that are really going to vibe with Gumby Kids [initially]. Deeki Deke, who is our showrunner, is amazing and we feel that he’s got a really strong idea for the series that we’re really excited about,” Cameron told Deadline.
Think I would have liked it if it were still a stop-motion TV show (and I know the Art Shift is going to piss so many people off; I can't say I'm a huge fan of Pokey's design for Gumby Kids myself), but the premise does sound promising and the people behind it sound like they give a damn, and...honestly I'm just happy we're getting Gumby ANYTHING considering all the failed attempts to revive the series over the years.
"Hey, least I didn't lose all my artistic talent when I crash landed in the arena here."
