Honestly, I feel it was inevitable given his age (93) and so many mentions of him on Twitter for the past several months. It wasn't surprising or shocking, unlike so many others. It's natural, and he left ensuring a legacy that will forever immortalize him.
He will be missed here.
Due to recent news that 5th anniversary update to Planet Zoo will add African leopard, I will name one of my leopards in one of my zoos after Makucha (and/or Sabor).
Also, can you guys be kind enough and post here un-censored version of fanart
that Vtoony
posted today? Even though I have arachnophobia/entomophobia, I still want to see that fanart. Pretty please?

So I found apparently a clip (or rather, the audio of a clip) that someone recorded at D23 or something that had the full song of "I Always Wanted A Brother" from the Mufasa film. It's a fun song. Actually gives us another good bit of characterization for Mufasa and Taka, too that ties in with how they both are as kings, respectively.
Once upon a time a lot of their animated movies had cartoon spin offs with varying degrees of success,I expect the lion king having an animated show aimed at younger childen is because they probably don't think the lion king appeals to an older demographic
have a listen and have a link to my discord serverI'm not surprised with The Lion Guard being made for Disney Junior. After 2006 (when The Emperor's New School came out), but before 2017 (when Tangled: The Series and Big Hero 6: The Series came out), any animated shows based on movies and other big franchises would be made for Disney Junior. Look at My Friends Tigger & Pooh (though Winnie the Pooh is a young skewing franchise anyway), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse , Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and technically Sofia the First given the established characters that came out. Even The 7D , despite being a Disney XD show, was originally going to be for Disney Junior when it was first announced. I'd say the franchises that get the Disney Junior treatment, and usually get at least 2 seasons, are ones based on well known established properties, like with Spidey and His Amazing Friends, Alice's Wonderland Bakery, Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures, Muppet Babies (2018) (the only Disney produced Muppet show to get more than one season), and Ariel (2024) . Even Hercules got his treatment when some of the movie characters appeared in Mickey Mouse Funhouse.

Lion Guard did do a pretty good job of both deepening the Lion King canon and educating kids. Each episode included different animals and lessons on African language and culture along with on occasion having a few really good and deep episodes on things. Heck, in the last season there are multiple character deaths, even.

Lion Guard was revolutionary in that it was one of the first preschool shows that werent baby fests and could actually have hardcore plots. And it FINALLY solved the whole "Hyenas are evil" by having an amazingly sympathetic and heroic hyena character.
I've only seen some of the lion guard ("sisi no sawa means we're the same" is best song) but it is a well done, non patronizing epic cartoon for little kids, kinda like a boys version of Sofia the first.

see my completed Tangled (Varian) fanfic collection! https://archiveofourown.org/works/24467056/chapters/59049532Neat, I've been (re)watching TLG recently since I never officially finished it. I'm in the first half of Season 3.
There's a Casual Geographic video that has me thinking "so that's why Bunga is the bravest"
Seeing those
two
bird compilations posted today by Vtoony
has me wishing that we should get more birds in Planet Zoo.
I saw a trailer for Mufasa while seeing The Wild Robot and I don't know whether its a terrible idea or not. On one hand the 2019 remake banked heavily off of being a remake of an extremely iconic movie with an enticing (on paper) gimmick. I doubt most people who saw it liked it enough to want a prequel. On the other it may very well turn a profit on brand recognition alone. Could go either way.
Once Upon A Time.
That doesn't exactly inspire confidence since making something entirely new is way, way harder. Though, to be fair, being original and not being so safe with the source material. Though I'd still hate it based entirely off the art style. To me, the "Live Action" remakes are an enormous betrayal to animation history. Here we have a bunch of movies that are crucially important to the history of the medium, one that's already seen as a "lesser" medium, and turning them into "real" movies. Those old movies were babyish and animated. These live action remakes are those movies if they were "real" movies. In short, I see them as a symbol of the Animation Age Ghetto based on movies that are some of the biggest aversions of that idea. If they announced an animated remake of a seminal live action film, I doubt it would be anywhere close to as accepted.

Once Upon A Time.Pretty opportune time for the voice actors to mature as well.
I wish Season 3 were at least as long as the previous seasons though, I would've liked more characterisation / fleshing out of the Night Pride, particularly Rani. Then the romance with Kion could've had more time to develop.
I also Love to Hate Mama Binturong
(well, partly because binturongs are a fave of mine in general)

When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the savior
If you love binturongs, then I have a question for you. Do you have Planet Zoo? Because you can build there a very nice and cozy habitat for your popcorn-smelling favorites.
As for Kion and Rani... they and Fuli should had became a One True Threesome.

Shame he was unable to provide a voice in TLG.
