The next game from Motion Twin, the folks who made Dead Cells, a roguelite that trades 2.5D sidescrolling for a 3D, isometric viewpoint. Gameplay looks intense and stylish as expected, and you can do it all in co-op if you wish. That was actually one of their goals - to let you do that sort of fast-paced action with your friends.

Slated to come out in early access later this year. I look forward to it :)

Early access release date has been announced for October 24. Also, there's a single-player demo that will be available during the Steam Next Fest on the 14th-21st, and progress will carry over to the main game :o

Windblown is out in Steam Early Access! The launch trailer is actually what you see when you start the game, but it's still pretty slick :o

The game itself plays like a fast-paced isometric action game. Much like Dead Cells, you can have two weapons, two ability-like trinkets, and several passive abilities, called gifts here. The big addition is a dash with a very fast cooldown that lets you zip around everywhere, and with the right timing dodge enemy attacks and punish them accordingly. There's also alter attacks, which are powerful moves you can unleash after finishing a combo with the other weapon, crystalize, which lets you instant-kill low-health enemies and potentially get special drops, and magifish, which are like ultimate abilities with a longer cooldown.

You need all those abilities as the game absolutely does not pull its punches. I've had a few runs where I got careless and died from the small enemies a few minutes in. And it just goes up from there - if the early stages are there to teach you that dashing is super important and you should keep it in mind, the first major boss is there to teach you that knowing when to dash is just as important, and just mashing the dash button is a good way to get wiped out. Most of my failed runs felt like it was my fault, rather than the game pulling some BS move on me.

There's co-op too, but I haven't tried it. The game is perfectly playable single-player, and what Motion Twin has so far is very promising. It is such a rush when you're locked in and zipping around, eliminating your opposition left and right. I'm excited to see what else they have in store :D

One more note, the music is incredible. There's a degree of intensity present that just fits the mood of the game. Even the main menu theme goes places, man :o
