My sister and I were talking and I was explaining to her the Concept of Germans Love David Hasselhoff, and she immediately not only got it immediately went "Oh like Prophet in A Foreign Land" which is the EXACT name for the Spanish version of the trope!

I was amazed, and now, she's a busy working woman, she doesnt read tv tropes.

We were watching Big Mouth in sex ed in my special needs school. The episode we were going to watch was "Everybody Bleeds". When the teacher explained the episode focused on the female characters on the show, a student piped up with "so this is a Girl's Night Out Episode?"

It's happened to me pretty often when talking with my dad, in part because I often like telling him about TV Tropes (and because he occasionally checks out pages on here), not to mention that several tropes here are well-known concepts in their own right.

Chekhov's Gun is one particular trope we've mentioned to each other by name.

Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.

If it counts, I was this person as a young kid, when I complained about the Damsel in Distress trope (though just descibed as "that thing where this happens" rather than an actual Concept Name) and how it implies that "girls are helpless and can't save themselves and need the boy to save them". Didn't know the specific name for it but I had noticed it was A Thing In Media
