I wouldn't call the game a Horror Comedy. Like, the game is generally funny in play and the internet is full of comedic videos about it, but that's because it's gameplay format allows people to have fun with their friends easily and makes for good schadenfreude and having fun with friends and watching them screw up is an inherently funny time.
The game itself has a few darkly humorous things like how over the top evil the Company is, but it's not overall a game that with an awful lot of humor in it.
It's like calling Uno a comedy game. Much like Lethal Company, Uno games are generally hysterical swings of fortune and Markiplier happens to have a hilarious series of videos about it, but Uno itself is just a game that makes it easy for people to make humorous situations themselves rather than being comedic itself.
Especially in comparison to Among Us, where almost everything about it is visibly very silly and intentionally so, yeah...

Matpat took a stab at the game's possible lore. His take is that the titular Company's massive building's containing some cosmic horror that consumes metals, with gold being it's favorite alloy. And "Jeb," our good ol' ornery tentacled desk clerk, is probably said horror in the flesh. He unfortunately doesn't have any solid explanations for the Masks or Jesters, though, aside from possibly being man-made weapons.

More additions have been added to v50 bets. A new outdoors creature, Tulip Snakes, will attach to your character and periodically fly them up into the sky before dropping them. The more you have on you, the higher they can launch you. There is.also Spike Traps now, which ccan either be slamming doen on set intervals or triggered by movement, depending on the type of trap decided at seed creation
The actual update was released today. Not sure if the other two moons are still hidden in the game or had been removed entirely.
New additions include: - A new forest moon, Adamance - Reworked Dine's exterior - Two new entities outdoors, one new entity indoors - Added Easter eggs which can be thrown. - Two new suits in the rotating shop + a disco ball - You can now run down slopes faster. - A new hazard/trap indoors
Changes:
- The bell now makes chimes when dropped (which will alert enemies within a large radius.)
- Baboon hawks now spawn in groups of two, have 4 HP instead of 6, and do less damage when stabbing the player.
- Various small changes to the scrap output and spawn rates in moons, with the goal of making more moons rewarding to go to.
- It's possible to bounce off walls when hitting them at a steep angle.
- Slightly increased the weight of the shovel, to make each player less of a self-sufficient killing machine.
- Fixed crouch-sprinting; previously, pressing the crouch button while sprinting would cause you to crouch and then uncrouch at the same time; when spamming the key, this made it possible to sprint without making noise. - Falling out of bounds no longer teleports you to the main entrance of the facility
- I know this kind of change might seem antagonistic to speed-runners, etc. But these made it possible to bypass Lethal Company's design and mechanics without requiring any more skill or strategy; I guess it would also make speed runs of Lethal Company less accessible to people who don't want to (or can't) spam a button very fast on the regular.
- As a side side note, I had targeted the jetpack's crazy efficiency for this same reason (safely bypassing part of the game), but I've realized it has an irreplaceable purpose as the most wacky gimmick item, so I will respect that.
- Since the manor layouts are generally more spread out than the facility layouts, manors will now always generate smaller when loaded. This was mostly an issue on Titan, which had a significant chance to generate absurdly large manors.
- To compensate, the size multiplier of indoor levels in Rend and Dine have been increased, which should result in them feeling the same as before. Dine now has the same size as Rend.
In the next update I want to add more creatures outside and inside, and I will probably focus a little less on end-game content for a while. I also still want to add more variety to interiors.
so Zeekers has been teasing "the best update of all time
recently, and since no one posted about v55 yet, I guess I'll post the trailer and some additions from that.
- They added the Company Cruiser to this update, a tool that's about as handy as it is deadly. able to ferry crewmates and scrap from ship to bunker, it is also a bit wonky and prone to explode if taken too much damage
- New enemy: Barber. invisible enemies that only become fully visible within a certain range. They only move on a specific rhythm that gets faster as the day goes on, and can travel in packs. easily avoidable on its own, but can instantly kill people if they end up too close or sprint into it when running away from another threat. Pace yourself when you hear its beat getting louder
- New Enemy: Kidnapper Fox and vain Shrouds. Vain Shrouds are weeds that don't do anything on their own to harm players, but should be removed regardless. The more that are around, the more likely a Kidnapper Fox will spawn, an opportunistic outdoor predator that can sneak up on players and even stalk the ship itself. If it finds a stray employee, it will try to latch onto them with his tongue and force them to drop all their items before dragging it to its nest where it will instantly kill them. its possible to break free if you have a weapon by hitting its tongue, but if it starts sprinting towards you it will try to instantly kill you without the comfort of its nest. Takes 7 hits to kill, but only one spawns per run, so when its gone, its gone for the day. feel free to run it over with the truck to save the team some headache.

Lethal Company Steam Page
Lethal Company really came outta nowhere. Released back in October 23rd this year, it quickly blew up on social media and is now out-selling some AAA quality games.
The premise has you and up to 4 players working under the titular "Company" collecting random scrap at abandoned settlements on formerly inhabited moons, which after a period of 3 days you return to the Company office to sell and attempt to meet a profit quota. The problem? All of the moons are overrun with hostile wildlife and malfunctioning security systems, and your company is very much one of those that obtained all of it's gear on a dirt-cheap budget. Most telling is the ever-present crack on your hazmat suit's visor; you likely received a re-issued suit from another poor sod who met a terrible fate.
There's no true "Win" condition though: the sessions continue with the company quota continuously increasing until it eventually becomes impossible for players to meet, and then... well, the Company decides to introduce you to the Disciplinary Process.
Some folks have considered Lethal Company to fall more under the category of "Horror Comedy:" didn't feel that way at first since the game can be pretty intense due to the time limit and how fragile your characters are, but in retrospect there's certainly a feeling of hopeless schadenfreude going on since you know everybody's efforts will eventually be all for naught. That, and even I gotta admit, some of the deaths me and Onyhow ran into were goddamned hilarious.
