We'll probably see it a situation where BG 3 earns every single regular award its nominated for, but loses out on Game of the Year to Tot K, just like what happened with God of War and Elden Ring last year.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Zelda TOTK for best art direction... kinda fascinates me. Say what you will about the game being too much like an expansion pack for BOTW, but in terms of art design it's very much "BOTW but more." I suppose it could be said that the Temples are infinitely more interesting than the Divine Beasts in terms of art design, but personally that doesn't feel like enough that BOTW should essentially get a second nod six years later.
Also I feel like Armored Core 6 kinda got shafted, but at the same time I don't really see another area it could've gotten a nomination.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I mean as much as I love the smaller games they're at a structural disadvantage considering how the votes are tallied.
But yeah, there's so many awesome games this year it feels like there's not enough room for them all.
Says a lot that Starfield is only in one.
Anyways, as cynical as I am about... Everything... Nowadays, the fact that "Games for impact" and "Innovation in accessibility" are categories tells me the Game Awards at least has some people that give a shit attached to it. Good to have some mainstream attention
I'm alright with Baldur's Gate 3 sweeping everything.
You are not alone.Glad to see Sonic Superstars getting a nomination this year!
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Man, that's a strong set of GOTY nominations. Nearly all of those had a titanic reception - even the ones that weren't on my radar I know all about just because of how famously good they were.
It's too bad Tekken 8 comes out too late to be part of the Year of Amazing Fighting Games Slugfest. It would've been fun to have all the huge revival fighting games all duking it out at once.
I really, really hope Lies of P takes the Art Direction award.

Baldur's gate 3. But TBH I feel they could sweep most of ther nominations.
Literally the only legitimate criticisms I hear from that game are products of them keeping the Dungeons & Dragons ruleset to a t.
You are not alone. The number of times Alan Wake and Baldur's Gate 3 were nominated makes me wonder if they wanted those two to sweep everything. Like... the Best Multiplayer Award doesn't even have Counter Strike 2, Dead Island 2, Strike Force Heroes or Double Dragon Gaiden, and all of those got a decent reception/reviews upon release. Yet, Baldur's Gate is somehow on the Best Multiplayer nomination. Very much seems to be a popularity contest again.
And seconding Armored Core 6 getting snubbed, it only appeared in a single category.

Another year, another round of game of awards by Geoff Keighley himself. The following nominees are:

"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."
