It's one of those movies that Yahtzee Croshaw would classify as "fine out of ten". It does the job without being particularly great or particularly bad. I got what I came for out of it, and will probably rewatch it on Disney+ to pick out the details I missed.
Unfortunately, "fine out of ten" for an MCU project won't capture the box office these days.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hard to say. Disney playing hardball on the strike did them no favors when it came to promoting the Marvels.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI mean, currently the film sits at around a 60% on rotten tomatoes? i know that's not the equivalent of a "6 out of 10" consensus because the numbers don't work that way, but that seems fair to me. i wouldn't call it a horrible movie, it's certainly enjoyable enough, but not particularly great either.
That's about where I'd rate the film. It's not a masterful work of art and it's clearly suffered from some haphazard editing, but it's very enjoyable in spite of its flaws.
regulation pigeonIt's still one of the worst ranked MCU movies, which I think is completely undeserved. Pretty sure it would have scored higher before Endgame (Quantumania would also have).

Whatever your favourite work is, there is a Vocal Minority that considers it the Worst. Whatever. Ever!.
Well, Rotten Tomatoes has bloated review scores, both positive and negative. I mean I'd give it a 60% on a personal level. It absolutely deserves to be rated higher on that site, though.
I will say though, the fact that The Marvels is rated higher than Quantumania despite the poor sales is a showcase of the movie's positives shining through the noise.
regulation pigeonIt gets worse for this film's box office
. I think this bomb migjt change the course of the MCU...
It angers me that anything gives those idiots who keep dunking on female led movies any ammunition.
Of course, the fact that this movie came out during a big strike and it was impossible to advertise didn't help, but they'll gleefully ignore that to promote their own viewpoints.
One Strip! One Strip! You have to admit the film made mistakes. The budget is ridiclous and part of the problem, two of the leads were introduced on D+ stuff, and a "wacky filler" movie with a generic villain hurt this making profit. Regardless how you feel on the film this can't be good for Marvel's future.

That one hurts a lot.
Yes, they will fail to actually understand what the problem is, alongside it didn't make enough money, and probably backpedal in all the wrong ways.
One Strip! One Strip!Btw it seems to be heading to an 80 percent second weekend drop which would be on par with the world record. Like we're talking a legendary bomb.
The whole good word of mouth thing saving it isn't happening.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I mean, you can’t discount that it was a movie that came out just after the SAG AFTRA strike, hardly any promotion was done. And Secret Invasion left a bad taste on everyone’s mouth.
I remember before Secret Invasion came out there was happy buzz and then SI happened and there’s a lot more discontent.
It’s not the movie. And I stand by that. It’s all the factors.
Well it's more than that. The general public after multiple disasters from the mcu by all indication have lost interst in it. Even if I've seen tons of people agree the film isn't love and thunder or Quantamania level bad.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."

But instead I think we'll get a lot of people going "wow, glad to hear it sounds okay. Looking forward to it on Disney Plus."
Oof, that's exactly how my brother responded when I told him it wasn't nearly as bad as the critics were saying.
