This is a thread for engineers to communicate with moderators and ask questions about the following engineer duties:
- TLP management.
- Video example management.
- TRS/IP Crowner management.
- Pinning headers and editing thread titles for TRS/IP.
- Editing locked pages.
- Moving pages via page mover tool.
- Create pages in main.
- Move discussion pages
- Visual Editor conversion issues (the red "NEEDS REVIEW" button that shows on certain pages)
- Using the Add/fix title tool in TRS/IP to fix it if the banner isnt showing up on the page or they want to add multiple articles to an existing TRS/IP thread.
The primary reason why the engineer feature was pushed up was that the admins want the videos to be processed faster, so videos approval should be top priority. You guys are free to work on other parts of the site but please try to work on the videos regularly.
Policy notes
- Engineers can lock IP or TRS threads, but must not unlock or lock Content Violation Discussion threads (as the moderators need to be directly involved in The Content Policy work).
- Engineers can manage crowners for TRS and IP threads, but must not create, amend or call/close crowners on other parts of the site unless this has been agreed with the moderators on a case-by-case basis (as policy-related decisions require moderator or admin involvement).
- As well as supporting the Locked Pages thread, engineers can directly make their own changes to locked pages. These don't need to be posted to the thread — the edit history provides an audit trail. However, there are some caveats regarding this:
- All of the site's usual troping guidance still applies. Specifically, image changes need to go via Image Pickin' and other major changes shouldn't be unilateral.
- Edits related to the page lock reason need to be handled with particular caution. For example, if a creator page has been locked due to controversy, engineers shouldn't add or amend anything related to that controversy without moderator approval.
- Administrivia policies must only be amended by moderators (or with direct approval from moderators or admins). Typo and wikilink fixes are fine, but engineers shouldn't change anything beyond that.
- The rules regarding moderator involvement on lock-related topics and site policies (Administrivia) still apply if a thread seems to have reached consensus or a change request is submitted via Locked Pages. These decisions must have moderator oversight as well (and may sometimes get escalated for admin approval as well).
- The Engineer Code of Conduct is listed on the Know the Staff page alongside the Moderator Code of Conduct.
- This thread is not for posting requests for mods, such as posting reports about other users. Please use Ask The Tropers or hollers for that.
- This thread is visible to all users, as the contents are not confidential. However, only mods and engineers are able to post in it.

I denied the AAI video as I'm pretty sure the trope doesn't cover intentional interruptions. I don't get the sense that Switching P.O.V. is about any particular purpose so much as the practice itself (being specific to perspectives on a single event might overlap too much with "Rashomon"-Style) but its description comes off as very literature-specific to the point I'm not sure it even applies (or wouldn't be chairsy if it did) in any medium where narration isn't mandatory (although it has enough non-literature examples that if that's the case it would need TRS).
- Live-Action Adaptation (A Dog of Flanders (1975)): I'm pretty sure a Shot-for-Shot Remake of just the opening sequence (with a character missing and the dog played by a human in a dog suit) doesn't count, but I would like to get another opinion before denying it outright, mostly because I'm not sure this is something easy to capture in a single video.
- Call-Back (Thomas & Friends): Another one that's difficult to capture in a single video, but as presently framed there's nothing indicating that this isn't the first time we're learning of these incidents.
- Birds of a Feather (Victor and Valentino): Not sure a video of the first time two characters meet each other is a good representation of the trope which might be more about continuing relationships, but you could argue that it's an Invoked Trope.
- Actually, I Am Him (Thomas and Friends): I don't think a character making a realization about the identity of another character quite falls in the same category as the other character proclaiming their identity.
- Extreme Omnivore (Bump in the Night): I think it probably fits, though I'm not sure if eating a single specific inedible thing actually is enough to qualify for the trope, but I also think it might go on longer than necessary.
- Amusing Injuries (Bump in the Night): Is the character portrayed as suffering any actual injuries? Is it necessary for them to? I'm okay with the trope being listed as secondary in the one above since it looks like Mr. Bumpy actually explodes there with body parts landing in different places, but here I could argue that the character takes abuse without actually getting injured. I skipped the others from this work mostly because I didn't want to keep watching more of it.
- Villainous Breakdown (Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas): I think this might work better as two videos, and I'm not sure it illustrates some of the secondary tropes well.
- Unfortunate Character Design (Kamen Rider Revice): YMMV entries presumably can only have video examples under very specific circumstances, and while you could argue that it's a Lampshade Hanging, I'm also not sure it actually counts. Maybe it could be approved for the secondary trope Joke of the Butt though.
- Amusingly Awful Aim (How I Met Your Mother): Not sure this qualifies as the sort of inhumanly bad aim the description seems to be getting at.
I uploaded Amusingly Awful Aim and it looked exaggerated to me (the bottle soars way past the couch). There's another clip of the character that's even more blatant so maybe I can add them together to make it clearer?

I wasn't sure about the Dog of Flanders one for Live-Action Adaptation either. It might be worth rejecting it but telling the uploader it WOULD match Shot-for-Shot Remake?

I see the page count is up to 9, so I'll just give reviewing another hour or two
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'll try and go on a spree after work tomorrow. I get off at 3
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallYes, they can. You can retroactively reject and approve.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallEr, so, raincheck on my spree. I have a sore throat and fever and feel like death so I'mma sit this one out today
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallSkipped as need second opinionL
- The Reveal "You're not a real lawyer" (Better Call Saul) is this supposed to a reveal that Saul doesn't have a real Law Degree or is it that Chuck was working against him? If it's the latter then the actual "reveal" moment appears to be missing?
- Character Signature Song "Mirror Man" (Daniel Thrasher) this seems more like an "I Am" Song to me? Character Signature Song is more when a character repeatedly sings a song which may even be a pop song in different scenes this video looks more like a one off? Though it's hard to tell.
- Zeroth Law Rebellion ""Tolerance is Extinction..." (X-Men '97) to be honest I am not sure I understand the trope well enough to judge. It definitely fits it's secondary trope Virtue Is Weakness though.

Is the Bribe Backfire vid okay? It shows the bribe being rejected, but it doesn't seem to make the situation worse for the one offering the bribe.
And the queue is cleared up, except
- A video for the trope that was unlaunched and in TLP is set to be launched today
- The Break Them With Lies one looks more like mail harassment than lying.
I have approved a bunch of new ones I left "After action" from Justice Society: World War II for Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene as I wasn't sure how well on it's own it demonstrates. Partially because it sounds really muffled to me though that could be my ears still playing up.

In the complaining thread
, people have been voting for locking YMMV.Wish 2023 due to the immense amounts of complaining. Should we go with it?

She/Her | Currently cleaning: N/A
It's already been locked and has nothing to do with Engineers anyway.
While at it, I'd like to note that the amount of queued videos is now at 5 pages.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupStill battling my cold but I may try and do some videos tomorrow if I have the energy
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallI skipped:
- "Space Precinct" for Space Police from Space Precinct as I'm the uploader so that wouldn't be fair if I approved it.
- "Ben Reboots Eunice" for Have You Tried Rebooting? from Ben 10: Ultimate Alien as I wasn't clear how well it demonstrates to anyone unfamiliar with how the Unitrix works?
- "Baby Hilter" for Signature Scene from Come and See as I am not familiar enough with it to judge.
For Complete Monster entries do we need to check the trope to see if they are included?

Is there an easy way to link videos you are unsure on? So far at the bottom of page 8 I don't know about:
