Also, if we expand it like that I'd want to rename it to something more general like Trailer Scene Decay.

Well, good news, someone did do a wick check and one of the proposed solutions in TRS queue was to expand/broaden it to include non-jokes.

The trope, is about a joke from a film or TV show being shown over and over again that it's no longer funny when you finally watch the movie/show fully.
The thing is, this phenomenon isn't just present in comedy trailers; they can be present in horror, action, and drama trailers too.
Take the 180-degree neck twist Jump Scare from Smile (2022) as an example. That scare was by far the most iconic and most shared about part of the trailer. However, since it got seen so many times online, when you watch the movie, the audience may no longer be that surprised by it, or at least not as they did when they saw it the first time.
The Nostalgia Critic brought this one up in a video of his. The Money Shot scene in Independence Day of the White House blowing up was what hooked people into the film because of just how awesome it was. But again, seeing that scene over and over again, did somewhat diminish the impact when finally seeing the film in theaters.
So how about expand the trope's scope to include horror, action, dramas and other genres as well?
Maybe redirects like Trailer Scare Decay and Trailer Awe Decay could help?
