Back in the 80s-2000s, hack (Macekre-styled) dubs were running rampant throughout the anime boom in America, these dubs would include rewritten plots, hammy voice acting, replacement music, censorship, and bowdlerization of the source material. Fans hate this practice back then because it was treated as a marketing strategy rather than getting the draw of the series. Most of the worst cases of this came from 4kids entertainment. So did Macekre-styled dubs really made anime more enjoyable back in the 80s-2000s?
