First Scorpion, then Liu Kang, then Kenshi. Now it's Johnny Cage's turn to star in his own animated movie.

IGN can exclusively reveal the full voice cast, plot synopsis, and an exclusive first-look photo from Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, the sequel to 2020’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, 2021’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms, and 2022’s Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind.

Based on the video game created by Ed Boon & John Tobias, the full-length animated film's crew includes director Ethan Spaulding and supervising producer Rick Morales. Jeremy Adams, who wrote the previous three films, is back as the screenwriter.

Executive producers are Sam Register and Nether Realm Studios’ Ed Boon.

Huh wonder which villain they'll use for this one? The synopsis about a sinister cult would lead me to Quanq chi but he's already dead.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."

[up][up] (*tears up seeing Gilbert Gottfried's name*)

Still gone, still not forgotten.

Wait, he was in Royal Crackers, too? Mind blown. surprised

- This sounds like Mythologies but with Johnny in Sub-Zero's place.

- Hopefully Ashrah does something other than die. Also, NRS sure seems to like Kelly Hu.

- Gilbert Gottfried in a Mortal Kombat movie is not a sentence I ever expected to write.

wait...Ashrah? They're finally acknowledging her existence??

Kia and Jataaka are a bigger surprise, but there's no mention of Sareenasad

Either Shinnok is the Big Bad or the Greater-Scope Villain, although with this lineup, Ashrah makes the more sense as the villain turned ally, really, or something like that.

Wake me up at your own risk.

Trailer’s up!

And so is the page!

Was very pleasantly surprised to hear Gilbert’s voice in this. And very surprised to learn Grey was playing herself!

Ashrah (surprisingly) and Raiden appear.

Was the guy Johnny fighting is Shinnok? He looks like him.

This movie makes me ship HBO Harley and Johnny Cage.

Not at the expense of their canon love interests but a torrid affair they're both ashamed of.

Hearing Gottfried's voice is very unsettling.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.

Personally I believe Jennifer Grey in this movie is actually Sareena, given that Kia and Jataaka are there. The captive scene and the fact that Johnny is seen with markings on his body sealed it for me.

Any update on this movie before its October 17 release date? I ask because could this movie also be affected by the current writers' strikes?
