Pretty much. Maybe set between Kong: Skull Island and Godzilla vs. Kong?
Anyway, we got a cast!
- Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem) as Charlie
- Mae Whitman (Avatar: TLA, TMNT 2012, The Owl House) as Annie
- Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever) as Mike
- Benjamin Bratt (Poker Face) as Cap
- Betty Gilpin (Mrs. Davis) as Irene
Plus, the animation's done by Powerhouse Animation,
whose references include Castlevania, Seis Manos, and the animated prologue for Sonic Frontiers!
Goddamn had a lot of fun with this one. Really put me in the mood for the "Supernaturally Shipwrecked" genre.
Banter between Charlie and Mike is continuous gold. Annie's a good new take on the "Lady Savage" trope. Villain's more compelling than I thought. Monster design's not quite in step with the live-action monsterverse but there's still a Planimal or two. Didn't expect it to end on a cliffhanger goddamn what a tease there's still a lot of questions.
You are not alone.Watched the first two episodes and I'm really into it. The lack of gore lessens the tension the show creates but I find the gore never feels forced in turn. The leads are likeable but forgettable.
Regardless, I'm enjoying myself and going back to watch more. Just wanted to stop by here to share my thoughts.

The next chapter of Legendary's MonsterVerse is coming June 30th, 2023!
So, I guess I have a reason to catch up with the MV movies besides the first Godzilla one, eh?
