Nimona is the most successful film?
Because of the strikes?

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Fingers remain crossed. Keep supporting the film and keep an eye on the news.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. You never know! It’ll be up to Netflix and the filmmakers.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.I don't think nimona will get a sequel. What makes nimona nimona is very tied up in its explorations of its themes, they've already explored those themes pretty thoroughly, so im not sure where they could go for a sequel. And I can't really think of an antagonist that would fit the world as its left at the end of the movie.
ND Stevenson did say they were cool with them doing new stuff with Nimona, so hey, the sky's the limit.
Anyway, look! They released a 100% free digital art book
for Nimona! (I guess to butter it up for awards season?) Cool!
The foreword by ND Stevenson is a must-read:
Nimona was pink because I could only find a pink pen the day I started sketching her. She lived in a medieval future because I liked drawing knights but not horses, laser cannons but not spaceships. Her first transformation was going to be into a T. rex, but sharks were easier to draw; and the shark had boobs because it was 5 a.m. and my life was falling apart and that meant it was objectively the funniest joke in the world. Even her name just kind of...happened, a result of writing down the first syllables that came to mind and telling myself I’d come up with a real name later.
Years later, I would find myself in the front row of a Blue Sky screening room surrounded by some of the greatest artists in animation as a gorgeously rendered 20-foot-tall concept painting of Shark-Nimona loomed over me, and all I could think was: how in the absolute **** did I get here?!
I’ve never stopped asking myself that question, even though I know perfectly well the answer is "a bunch of really smart, really talented, really metal people refused to stop fighting for this movie even as the world seemed to be actively plotting to make sure it never saw the light of day."
There are so many fingerprints on this movie. So many people around the world brought a piece of themselves to Nimona’s story, and their love and passion shines through in every frame. I am so, so glad that you’re about to appreciate their work in this book the way it deserves.
Nimona sprang into existence when I needed her most — a scream into the void, and a hope for a happier ending.
I think we got there in the end.
Bla-bla-bla, victoire!
- ND Stevenson
- And apparently Nimona almost looked 1:1 with her appearance
◊ in the graphic novel.

Even though it would have been more book-faithful, the tiny Black Bead Eyes would have looked strange in 3D CGI (though I know Peanuts and Captain Underpants managed to pull it off); the big Disneyesque eyes just allow for more expressive animation.

And now someone went and made The Art of Nimona into a handy dandy PDF!
(...which might have been something Netflix probably should've done themselves, but I guess they couldn't be bothered to do that.)
Reviving this forum with news. Nimona has been nominated for best animated feature at the Oscars. Source is Deadline:

Just dropped DiscussingFilm announcing it at the Oscars thread,
but AWWWWWW YEAH, NIMONA!
This movie's journey feels like one for the animation history books! From web comic to graphic novel to Blue Sky movie to getting canceled in the wake of the Disney/Fox buyout to getting revived by Annapurna and Netflix to getting awards left and right and now the fracking Academy Awards!
If it wins (because even though Disney's Wish got snubbed, there's still major competition with Ghibli's The Boy and the Heron, Pixar's Elemental, and Sony's Across the Spider-Verse), then it'll be an even bigger case of poetic justice to see the movie Disney tried to axe going this far when their 100th anniversary movie just fell flat on its face!
All that said, AWWWWWW YEAH!

Well, the ones to beat will be Spider-Verse and the Boy and the Heron. But imagine if this wins…
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.I honestly think it'll be an Award Snub if The Boy and the Heron wins. It's beautiful but really disjointed and weird and I wouldn't put it at the top of Miyazaki's movies (but hey, True Art Is Incomprehensible I guess).
I really liked Nimona but I don't know if it's strong enough to win against Across the Spider-Verse. In any other year though, Nimona would probably get my vote. Shame, though at least it walloped Wish's ass.

Correct, it's between those two. But Nimona did win one
minor award, so I'm happy.

I'm cheering for Nimona out of personal favouritism, but also: I haven't seen The Boy and the Heron, but Miyazaki is not exactly short on awards even if they don't include an Oscar, and Across' story is incomplete which reduces its ability to be fairly ranked and also means there'll be another opportunity to celebrate the Spiderverse anyway when Beyond comes out.
ERROR: The current state of the world is unacceptable. Save anyway? YES/NO

We will. It's the most successful film of theirs that actually lends itself to a sequel
As long as this flower is in my heart. My Strength will flow without end.
