Okay, yes. Thank you. This is why I got so wound up on the film’s top 10 ranking earlier.
Like, it was below that movie Monster Trucks.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Am I the only one coming into this not knowing it was based off a graphic novel, let alone having read that first? All I know is, I have this pipe dream of writing a fanfiction featuring characters who can Shapeshift. I see these trailers for Nimona and get nervous. What if it’s tacky? What if my ideas are tacky? Then my dad tells me that he heard the movie was good, and we watch it together. This character checks about 80 to 90% of the boxes for a character I wanted to write, and Nimona as a character worked. This idea works. I’m thrilled that I saw Nimona, whether I’m able to write my story or not.
Yeah but I’m still gonna be happy about it. It was number 9 yesterday so…
THANK YOU. I’m still playing it in the background while I swim and watch Fourth of July movies.
I found Netflix’s global top 10 list. Nimona is at #9 for June 26-July 2. Of course, it just came out Friday, so that number might go up next week.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Interview with the film's art director
about the film's use of color and subversion of the typical light-dark balance. Interesting how they talk about jaderoot from the comic, and how despite that plot point being cut they still used it as a visual reference for a lot of the tech and weapons.
The book's a lot grimmer than the movie. Pretty much everyone gets Adaptational Heroism in the movie compared to the book especially Nimona.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYeah. One of the first things she does in the book is shapeshift into a little girl and use the opportunity to stab a guy in the back after he let's his guard down.

Okay but ARE professional journalists making the claim? I saw one article but it gave no numbers. Probably not a reliable source…
