A normal salaryman, Tetsuo Tosu, discovers that his adult daughter Reika is being physically and emotionally abused by her new boyfriend, a young man named Nobuto. Soon after discovering that Nobuto has a history of murdering other girls that he has dated in the past and is currently trying to get money from Reika's grandparents before planning to dispose of her as well, Tetsuo murders Nobuto. He then resolves to commit "the perfect crime" and hides the body with the help of his wife, Kasen. However, Nobuto was the only son of Yoshitatsu Matori, who runs a powerful yakuza branch in the city. While Tetsuo wishes to protect his family, he must now deal with Matori's men as they threaten his family to find out what happened to Nobuto.

Its got the groundedness of Monster with the tension of Basilisk and Death Note.

I agree with the Death Note levels of tension! I can already see Kyouichi be the L to Tetsuo's (albeit slightly cowardly) Light... This really helps me stay up late every Sunday night.

And with EP 9, it seems all is crashing down on KYOUICHI! It was hard to watch him practically lose much, but at least Tetsuo seems to be in the clear ... for now...

Damn, I forgot we had a thread for this. I'd just like to say that the wife is the freaking MVP, holy crap.

Episode 12.

The wife is the MVP. Koichi is screwed. And wow, that ending. I wasn't expecting things to turn on Koichi so quickly or for that Mattori guy to get iced.

Tetsuo just can't stop being a killing machine, can he?

I mean, he's killed two people now, what's another one?

I really like the episode's ending too how Tetsuo goes from dissonant, calm eating to a sudden blue effect and his face looking entirely pale. Then he just nopes and goes "eh, it'll probably be fine." [lol]

I can't tell if this is going to be that "Light triumphs over L" moment where we switch to a new antagonist (who I thought would be Mattori), or if we're going to see repercussions from him killing Mattori while Kyoichi is still gunning for him.

I'm not even sure how Kyoichi is still alive. He's got a gut wound, is being hunted by a criminal organization, and is broke.

Kyoichi seems like the best bet if Tetsuo needs another antagonist. As for how he’s gonna survive, well he seems like a resourceful guy. He’ll find a way to crawl back up.
