Merging sounds good but can we broaden Recruiters Always Lie without a wick check?
Merge + expand could work.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Reportto expanding, though merging might also be fine.

Merge the two together.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupHooked a crowner so we can settle this one.
You can't always get what you want.Calling in favor of merging with Recruiters Always Lie, and broadening Recruiters Always Lie if necessary.
If broadening Recruiters Always Lie is necessary, feel free to sandbox it.
You can't always get what you want.Did away with Main/ plus a couple one-offs.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailAlrighty. Obliterated the wicks, moved some on-pagers to RAL, sent Quotes/ and PlayingWith/ to the cutlist. All that needs to be done is move the video example to RAL, where right now RAL is listed as a secondary trope and JTATS as main. Then this can be merged and closed!

Macron's notes
Crown Description:
Join The Army They Said is supposed to be about exaggerated military recruitment advertising materials (posters and the like), while Recruiters Always Lie is supposed to be about military recruiters being liars, but the two are frequently used interchangeably. What should be done with Join The Army They Said?
To-do list:
The largest amount of wicks were for grumbling about having gotten convinced into their current predicament, be it farming or politics or vampirism. To quote Recruiters Always Lie's own page description, "A sister trope to "Join the Army," They Said, which is about the recruitment pitches themselves, although the Stock Phrase itself is likely to be used in regard to this trope."
Military-specific usages are split evenly between Recruiters Always Lie and "Join the Army," They Said. I'd entertain a merge into Recruiters Always Lie with broadening its description to "recruitment people/materials that sell a false picture of military life," as even though Recruiters Always Lie has fewer wicks, it doesn't suffer the Stock Phraseiness trap that "Join the Army," They Said falls victim to.
Wick check:
This trope is to just the overlap between "Join the Army," They Said, which is supposed to be about exaggerated recruitment advertisements, and Recruiters Always Lie, which is about false military recruitment promises. The results:
Dodge: That's the Army song, Jackson!
(cue gasps and a few seconds of Stunned Silence, then a Big "WHAT?!" followed by Big "NO!", with maybe a Dramatic Drop or You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me! as icing on the cake).
