[up][up] Leveling your characters isn't the only thing you should focus on; Relics with % increases eventually take over the increasing costs of leveling, and Traces are also important for getting into the playstyle of your characters. I initially cleared Cocolia SU6 (Difficulty I) a month ago on the Abundance path with a team that was all under 60 note  and should be objectively inferior, yet cleared Cocolia while leaving Bronya alive (thus getting the "Save the Princess" achievement).

Cocolia SU6 really needs you to make sure your characters either resist freezing or cleanse it ASAP, so a character that can cleanse (Natasha or March 7th) will do the trick. And yes, you should keep leveling up the Simulated Universe nodes in the Ability Tree. Destruction path is also a solid-but-risky path if you can grab blessings that increase your defenses at low health. Your team composition whould also always build around the boss's weaknesses. Cocolia and her icicles are weak to Fire/Quantum, so bringing in Asta and Quingque/Seele to melt the break bars is a sound strategy.

Ever since I got Gepard and fine tuned him to go over 3000 DEF, stacking Preservation blessings (with some Remembrance strays) works wonders for me regardless of the World on Difficulty II and III, essentially relieving my Bailu of her spot in my main teams. March 7th would be a good alternative if I had the resources to bring her up to level. Nowadays, I find Memory of Chaos to be much harder than Simulated Universe II/III or Echo of War III.

Hanser is so phenomenal, if I didn't already love the English dub I'd play the CN dub just for her.

Patch notes say they fixed the difficulty of the last stages of the Jarilo expeditions... Actually attempting them, I'm not sure about this

[up][up] It’d be so cool if they could invite her at the Japan Expo at some point. I know it’s called the "Japan Expo" but there’s been more room for non-Japanese booths and guests these last years, so a Chinese guest could be nice.

[up] Which expeditions? The optional challenges you get in the security area?

PS: I wondered what that spooky sidequest with the ghost(?) girl named Cyrille was leading to, and then the museum has a painting of "Cyrille the Fool", eighth Supreme Guardian of Belobog and a reviled tyrant who was removed and killed by a coup. If it’s really the same person, then… ouch.

@ABD: I’ll keep that in mind, thanks. Trying to keep a dozen characters leveled up might have been overambitious of me honestly, I’ll try to focus on just a few for now.

Those ones, yes. The official name for those challenges is apparently warring expeditions

If it’s really the same person, then… ouch.

There wasn't really anything in the museum that wasn't in the letters you get in the mission?

Any tips on how to make the most out of Jing Yuan?

I've finally levelled him up to 70, with the THE BIRTH OF THE SELF Light Cone at the same level, with his basic attack at level 4 and the rest of his Traces at level 6.

However, he is hitting way lighter than the ones I'm getting from the support.

[up][up] I don’t think I have seen the entire questline yet so I suppose it’s all made clear by the end. But that’s why it surprised me.

Relics. Attackers all want relics that boost their element. And ideally the relevant stats, but just getting the right set is already a hassle

[up][up][up] Jing Yuan's limited light cone was practically a must for follow-up attacks from the Lightning-Lord, on top of the crazy CRIT DMG boost. People do seem to sleep on the fact that CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG are far more important stats than they seem. Additionally, you'll want your Jing Yuan to take turns as much as possible before the Lightning-Lord attacks, so an investment in a SPD-focused relic is great (Jing Yuan moves at 99 SPD by default, and the Lightning-Lord at 60 SPD; giving Jing Yuan a 5-star relic with a main focus on SPD should remedy the problem).

I know how it feels to have a Jing Yuan that feels like paltry (mine's also nearing lv. 70), because the lv. 80 Jing Yuan coming from a support that's clearly a whale (lv. 80, E6, Superimposition V on Before Dawn LC) has over 3000 ATK, a min-maxed Inert Salsotto / Band of Sizzling Thunder relic set, 70% CRIT rate and 160% CRIT DMG; seeing that Jing Yuan deal upward of 1 million damage at full Prana stacks is something to behold.

Welp, finally finished the event. 67 days. grin T’was pretty fun, all in all. I simply question the museum’s suspiciously heavy use of child labor. Also Sampo being the thief was so hilariously obvious it loops back to being shocking.

Also finished Cyrille’s quest and god she has to be one of the most pitiful characters in the lore. Imagine being forced into a role you’re obviously not fit for to become a Puppet King hated by the population, and then dying after being tossed in a crate by the person you blindly trusted, and then being insulted in your museum portrait blurb even in death… At least Cocolia died with some dignity (and post-mortem embellishment)…

Anyway, now all that’s left is to beef up my characters a bit. SURRENDER TO THE GRIIIND!

PS: How did Belobog only go through 18 Supreme Guardians in 700 years (so 2 to 3 Guardians per century) considering how many of them seem to face premature deaths? >.>

On the topic of Factions in the character pages: if the leaks are true, then sooner or later the Factions page will need an index page of its own for the factions that aren't big enough to warrant their own page. The IPC might get one, considering their lore importance. It's also interesting to note that the game also flat out classifies characters by factions (examples: Herta for Herta Space Station, Jing Yuan for Xianzhou: The Luofu, Himeko for Astral Express, and so on).

[up]I suppose an IPC page can be created using Findie as a base of sorts, then we can add all relevant IPC characters mentioned in lore there. After all, the Genius Society page was created because Screwllum never had a place we could put him at initially, and the rest just fell in naturally.

Being 100 years old in Star Rail is akin to being 20ish according to a lot of the lines from non-immortals in the artisan district. They consider that their apprenticeship period.

It's possible that Jarilo-VI simply has a longer orbital period than the standard year we're used to on Earth. To go through 18 Supreme Guardians in just seven centuries according to the Belobogian's perspective, Jarilo-VI's year would have to be nearly double that of Earth's.

By that note, I hope that in the future, we get official planet stats for each of the major planets we visit such as size, mass, density, surface gravity, distance from host star, orbital and rotation periods, etc., because it would make them more believable than just "it's a planet with X".

I mean quick math tells me that 700 divided by 18 equals out to just under 39. So the real question is less of how they have so few guardians and more of how they have so many because surely some of them had to have been guardians for moe than 38 years if we assume to position doesn't have term limits.

Unrelatedly remember how I mentioned I'd lost the 50/50 to Himeko? I'm just now realizing that I have enough characters for a full fire team (Asta, Hook, Trailbazer (Fire), and Himeko). Would you guys recommend training up Hook and Himeko for that (I've been trying to save my EXP materials for whatever event character I manage to snag but I won't be pulling on any more Event banners until Fu Xuan's.) and if so what Lightcones would you recommend for them?

Part of the reason why I would like official planet stats in Star Rail is because it would clear up a lot of lore discrepancies regarding certain claims made in the game that only bring confusion.

For example, March 7th says the Xianzhou Luofu is "larger than Jarilo-VI", but how large is Jarilo-VI exactly? The same as Earth? Smaller? We don't know because the game never gives us its actual radius, so without that, there's no way we can compare its size to the Luofu and verify if March's claim is correct.

This also extends to the calendars each planet uses outside of the universal Trailblaze years (the same as the Earth Gregorian calendar) established in the lore. Herta Station and the Blue apparently has their own calendar called the Herta Calendar (one of the station books mentions "Herta Weeks"), and Jarilo-VI designates each of its year post-Antimatter Legion invasion as "After Founding", but creates more issues with the aforementioned Supreme Guardian terms. Some official orbital and rotation periods would be helpful in determining each planet's individual day/year length and put definitive constraints on their methods of keeping time.

Dunno, Wikipedia tells me that in real life France had 35 monarchs between 1180 and 1870 and England/the UK 37 since 1327note . And I can’t imagine Belobog’s life expectancy is very long considering the conditions they live in.

Buuut it’s true that we lack information on Jarilo’s size and orbital period, a year could last 100 or 500 days for all we know. Anyway, I’m not sure the writers have thought this far, it was just a little nitpick. evil grin

By the way, I find it interesting that the norm for Belobog rulers seems to be heredity through adoption. None of the lore bits make any mention of Supreme Guardians having husbands or giving birth.

Adoption makes sense as a sort of fail safe. Who knows what the child would be like if born with the Stellaron's influence.

~zero5889 added a bunch of Set Bonus entries on a bunch of characters concerning which Light Cones fit best for a given character. That's misuse: Set Bonus implies that the Light Cones belong to a certain character, which is totally false and is usable most of the time on any character of the same Path, despite the Light Cone art often depicting a given character. Additionally, some 5-star Light Cones completely make some of these entries moot.

Plus, the entries reek of Walkthrough Mode, which is something we don't want.

[up]For what it's worth, I gave them permission to add the Set Bonus entries on this discussion because it's the closest trope I can find that applies to Light Cones being more effective on certain characters. They were going to go with Weapon Specialization initially, but I explained to them that Light Cones are not weapons themselves despite reusing Genshin's weapon system as a base mechanic, because each SR character has their own unique permanent weapon now. The latter trope would've been even more blatant misuse.

Finally… FINALLY I beat SU6. With the worst strategy ever (double shield + Nat + abundance) that took me ages to beat the boss, but eh, it counts. evil grin I’ll still have to try a less embarrassing strategy another time though. Maybe replace one of the shields with Bronya or Bronie.
