One thing I’m bummed about is that the MC doesn’t have their own character file with voicelines and all like the Traveler does…

Speaking of character file, damn March you like fruit juice way too much.

Hilariously enough, when you fight the Abundant Ebon Deer for the second time, March will talk in-game about "peaches". Yes, you're in the middle of a fight, then this girl will talk about fruits.

Hm, do I increase the equilibrium level, or hang out at 50 and get some more characters running? On one hand, equilibrium thus far hasn't been nearly as punishing as GI's world level, and it does let me farm more efficiently. On the other, I really doubt the game is going to expect me to be that high level terribly soon, and being strong for where I am is useful

Probably because Hoyo thought the Trailblazer doesn't have a sidekick like Paimon to bounce back off of with the exposition, and considering the route they're taking with the Trailblazer being a self-insert avatar for the player, I'm guessing that's the reason why they opted out of single character monologue like the rest too since every other character looks like they're addressing you directly.

So... let me get this straight. According to the official Star Rail Wiki, "the Galaxy" is the name of the entire SR universe itself and not a single galaxy, even though lore states that galaxies in the traditional sense (as in clusters of stars like the Milky Way) exist. Well that just put a hole in my astronomy logic, and makes the actual locations of the setting even more confusing.

They mention on that news program that Nanook destroyed a galaxy recently so not so sure on that...

Might be a mistranslation or being thematic like 'Star' in FFXIV.

Really hope it's a mistranslation, because current lore and flavor text so far have me under the impression that SR is taking place across one galaxy. If the name really is deliberate though, well that just opens up another can of speculation worms.

I also noticed that Earth itself hasn't been mentioned once and it appears Hoyo is taking the Star Wars approach of making SR's space setting entirely fictional rather than basing it on the RL universe. Heck, when I first registered, I thought Herta Station was orbiting Earth before finding out it orbits a different planet called the Blue.

The Star Rail universe is way too fantasy to really fit it anyway.

Oh wow, I never knew it was Honkai tradition. Alright then, with the info I gathered here, I'm going to remove the Where the Hell Is Springfield? entry off SR's page since it's not accurate.

I mean in impact it has Earth and such. Seele, Bronya and all the expies were from there. Welt is literally from Earth and him being present actually fits that story and the reason why Earth doesn’t exist fits too.

Impact is doing its thing there while Star Rail is galavanting a fantasy universe.

Got it, thanks. Haha, you can chalk this up to me being a newbie because my knowledge on Honkai lore is limited to word of mouth and SR is the only Honkai game I played. I only got into it because I'm an astronomer with a love for space operas, not because of the Honkai series.

I'm assuming that the actual word is "solar system" and the translation just fucked it up.

I've heard it's a pretty common bad dub/sub issue with Chinese works of fiction.

I have a bit of Fridge Logic regarding the ages of some characters. We know that:

• Serval and Cocolia were cadet schoolmates and bff’s, so they’re roughly the same age.
• Cocolia became the Supreme Guardian around her late teens.
• Bronya barely has any memories of the orphanage, so she was taken when she was 4 or 5 at the very latest.
• The Underworld and Overworld were separated for 10 years, which would make Bronya… 14 or 15 in the present? Except she has been leading troops for several years, apparently.
• Both Cocolia and Serval should logically be in their mid-to-late 30s at least^note unless Cocolia shut off the funnel and adopted Bronya immediately after taking office, which I don’t think is the case? but Serval is at one point called a "young lady" in her character quest, and her conversation with Bronya doesn’t indicate a 20-year age gap.

…I dunno, maybe I’m just confused because no one is allowed to look older than 25 in this kind of game.

It could be translation issues... or it could just be inconsistency. Things like how long regular people live and what exactly a curio is have different answers depending on where you look

For the size of the setting in particular, Qliphoth building a wall around the galaxy suggests that its just a regular galaxy (with chuuni fantasy shit). But then there's the imaginary tree, which suggests things are much weirder and probably infinite in scope

I mean, the Imaginary Tree is already canon in the Honkai series and connects nearly every game Hoyo has made into a single multiverse (Genshin included). Considering SR lore already states that multiple galaxies exists in its universe along with the one the setting is taking place across, it's safe to assume that the entire observable SR universe with all its galaxies is on its own branch of the Imaginary Tree.

~Vintage Emma, I don't know what spurred you to do this, but the way you're segregating playable characters from NPCs on the character subpages is running contrary to what's already tried and true on Characters.Honkai Impact3rd and Characters.Genshin Impact. It's short sighted, counterproductive and thoroughly oblivious as to what miHoYo has in store for future playable characters. If you're doing this, you're completely defeating the purpose of putting character folder names in bold to denote their playable status.

If you want a reference for a terrible playable-vs-non-playable page organization, look no further than Characters.Punishing Gray Raven, particularly Characters.Punishing Gray Raven Playable Constructs; a page that's saturated like that should've been split long ago or, you know, spread into the various factions said playable characters belong to.

My philosophy behind gacha games is that playable characters are the bread and butter that players only care for, so I restructured the SR pages to move the playable characters to the top to avoid unnecessary scrolling through factions sub-sections. I never liked how Genshin structured its character pages because it's a cluttered mess separating playable characters into factions and making them lost among a sea of NPCs nobody cares for, and I even started a restructure proposal discussion for Genshin that unfortunately fell flat because no one could decide which approach to take. So for SR, I decided to cut the knot early while the game is still young, to avoid the NPC cluttering in the future.

The problem is that as more playable characters are added, we’ll have to constantly move character files from one category to another… Now it’s not too bad as long as they stay on the same page, I guess.
