Spider-Man star Jake Johnson is unsure he will return for final movie Beyond The Spider-Verse

Games Rader article quoting Jake Johnson voice of Peter B Parker stating he hasn't been contacted about the third movie and doesn't know if Peter B will even be in it.

He's very enthusiastic about the role and does want to be with it so the issue is on the production side.

One hopes this just because production hasn't got it's act together about voice sessions rather than they're not having Peter B in it or recasting it but anyway you slice it, it's not good news.

Going by the original ComicBook.com article it seems it's just how things are done.

"This update on his lack of awareness about his character's future echoes remarks Johnson previously made about recording dialogue as close as just weeks before the movie premieres.

"As actors in it, we're always shocked that we get called in to record on this last one. I think it was a month before it screened, where we could not believe we were still recording," Johnson shared with Comic Book.com last July."

Yeah, actors don't know they have a job until they get official confirmation or if they've signed a contract for multiple features.

It's really not anything to get worked up about.

I'm not going to re-watch the movie until the sequel's date is announced.

It still kinda bugs me that everyone sees Spot become an increasingly multiverse level threat and they just kinda let it happen. I know Gwen's all worried that Miguel will send her back home if she screws up, but I'd think lying to him about a potential danger not existing would make that more of a likelihood.

Everyone sorta forgets about Spot to argue over the metaphysics of allowing Miles dad to die. tongue

It is a major plot point that everyone dismisses Spot as a "villain of the week".

But yeah, Spot becomes a big shot halfway through the movie and leaves while promising to make Miles' life hell...and then we spend the next hour of so on Spider Society shenanigans.

Like, is Spot the main villain in Beyond? Or will he really turn out to be just another "villain of the week" while the real big bad is Miquel again?

I mean... the film ends with him planning on destroying Manhattan and the whole conflict with the Spider-Society is kicked off with Miles learning that Spot is going to kill his dad.

So, Spot's definitely going to be a major threat in the next film. Miguel might be the main focus for the first half of the film with him trying to hunt down Miles, but the climax is probably gonna bring it back to Spot and we see how Miles ultimately takes him down and how that will affect his "canon event".

Unless they pull like an Avengers Endgame and just kill him off in the first half-hour, but I really don't see that happening.

You've got Spot, Miguel and Kilometres Immorales!Prowler/Mob Boss Aaran Davis. The films going to be packed with villain.

I'd guess Prowler and Davis to go down in act I, Miguel to come around for the finale and Spot as the big bad.

Otoh Prowler has a lot of potential to be character and foil to Miles throughout the film so who knows?

Possibly not even the writers yet given how they write by the seat of their pants apparently.

I'd guess Spot is the physical threat but Miguel is the adversary that drives the bulk of the emotional drama. Taking down Spot is going to be the ultimate goal but Miguel wants Spot to deliver Miles's canon event, so Miles is going to have to go through Miguel to defeat Spot. Which will mean navigating and resolving the complex conflict that is the Spider-Society in order to work together against the simple but immensely powerful conflict that is Spot.

Spot will provide the climactic action setpiece of the third act but fighting him will first require confronting Miguel, proving to him that his way of thinking is wrong, and convincing him to help fight Spot instead of trying to stop Miles.

Prowler, meanwhile, will be a relatively minor threat that has an oversized impact on Miles emotionally but is nonetheless resolved by the end of the first act.

It feel likes Prowler has to be involved in resolving the "Miles is an anomaly and Earth-42 is fucked because of its lack of a Miles Spider-Man" plot point.

Either we finally get an adaption of the heroic version of Prowler or he because a powerless tech-using Spidey to prove the whole 'any one can wear the mask' thing from the first film. Which always seemed a bit hollow to me because it's "any one, so long as you got bit by a radioactive spider and had super power".

Like it was a stretch when Dark Knight Rises did it, even more so for an actual super power superhero.

I feel like Prowler will bring in the Sinister Cartel to Miles so we can have a big army fight between the Society and the Cartel.

The rest of everyone handles the Cartel while the main guys handle Spot.

You think the Peter from Spidey and His Amazing Friends could be a part of the Spider Society?

Possibly. I think they'd need permission from Disney though? it's distinctively their version of spidey.

Plus since there's little to no violence in the show, that show's Peter wouldn't last long in the multiverse. I'd hate to imagine Miguel going after Spin (that show's Miles) as well.

[up][up]They used other Spideys from Disney-owned cartoons like 1967, Unlimited and Ultimate. I would imagine it's not out of the question.

Though my biggest wish is for TAS Spidey in Beyond. Especially if his appearance is used to resolve the final cliffhanger.

You think the Peter from Spidey and His Amazing Friends could be a part of the Spider Society?

I think that they'd be allowed to, but I imagine that given how Spidey comes from a world where he's working alongside versions of Miles and Gwen who are from the same world, I doubt he'd want to join the Spider-Society.

Personally I wanna see how Miguel and the Spider-Society would react to the Armored Spider-Man.

The guy never lost Uncle Ben nor Gwen and is much luckier at the cost of being an egomaniac.

Armored Spider-Man and Takuya from the Toei series are basically living contradictions to the Canon Events theory.

Also, I had a wonder as to what a "90s TAS artstyle" Miguel would look like, like what if he got involved in that two-parter?

I imagine the conflict with Prowler will be dealt with early on, possibly with a follow-up scene in the ending showing that just because he isn't Spider-Man doesn't mean he can't become a hero. IIRC, there was concept art of him basically being a noble thief, but that might've been a fan-made project I saw.

I feel like Miguel is going to ultimately reconcile with Miles by helping save Jefferson from Spot.
