That’s not Gwen Stacy. That’s Kamala Kahn…
Yeah I’m still bitter about that.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. It was Arad’s idea and Lord and Miller did the research and decided he was onto something. The whole idea was he was a D-List villain going A-List.
You’re Gonna Carry That Weight. This joke has such irony to it because Miguel and the Spider-Society give such cop energy in this movie.
With that being said, I saw it again and my feelings are pretty much the same. I love this movie, but Peter Parker being okay with letting people die without even challenging Miguel’s ideology still seems very out of character. And it’s especially weird when you realize quite a bit of the things he says is is extremely flawed. It makes Miles look good, though.
It’s a testament to how good the rest of the movie is that I’m able to enjoy literally every other aspect of it, as opposed to NWH where the writing for Peter’s character just makes me mad. Also, it’s crazy how much Miguel just already hated Miles even before meeting him.
Another thing, you catch a LOT of foreshadowing in this film when you watch it a second time. There is a glimpse of Earth-42 Miles during one of Spot’s visual explanations. There’s Jeff saying that Miles takes after his uncle in the beginning at the conference. The fact that Spot’s final form looks like Miles’ graffiti mural. Very well done.

For anyone interested in more Spider-Punk stuff, Cody Ziglar, who wrote a 5 issue miniseries about him last year and made a whole Spotify playlist for the character
along with a short breakdown of said playlist
.
It's a one-scene thing. I'm pretty she's just an ally. There are parallels like Diana says
but I personally don't think it's meant to be literal.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonSay it, generally enjoyed it, despite it making use of several story beats (the spectacle of the Spider Society vs Miles battle was great, but wow did it break my suspension of disbelief pretty badly, the whole 'canon' thing sets up what is transparently going to be a false moral choice (dad vs universe) and the moment I heard Miguel say something was classified and that he was the leader of an organization I knew he would prove to be either a dupe or a bad guy, because for all the film's complaints about 'canon' it sticks to certain metatextual beats quite rigidly) I generally despise and, in my view, treating the rest of the characters pretty badly to prop up Miles as a singular hero, which wasn't really needed. Still, that's mostly fixed by the ending. After building up Gwen-Miles for most of the film, the little moments of what felt like shiptease with Spider-Byte were unusual, so maybe they'll go with the more realistic, but less common, 'love doesn't conquer all, don't get together with someone who lies to you, betrays you, and recommends keeping secrets from your family due to their own emotional issues, even if they regret it later, date someone else, also you're like 15, don't be in a massive hurry to settle down.'
Going in without knowing this was part 1 of 2, the pacing felt extremely odd (in fact, I literally said, 'well, that was a good half of a movie' as I walked out of the theater) but I can't tell how much that's just on my changing expectations versus the actual movie, after all the ending here is actually very Empire Strikes Back, which didn't feel like half a movie to me, but then again, I could just go right to the next one there, while here there's a nine month wait, for me and I also knew it was the second part of a trilogy going in, think it's just a matter of expectations management Think calling this part 1 of 2 or something would have helped me, though I didn't see much advertising of it, so maybe I was just ignorant.
Feels very hard to evaluate without seeing the next one and knowing whether they stick the landing.

That just means if she's revealed as trans, it will be revealed in a way that can be easily censored. The trans flags are a Freeze-Frame Bonus, and any explicit dialogue can be easily altered in a dub. If the writers want to make trans Gwen, the only think they'd have to avoid is crucial scenes of her pre-transition.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.

Well, they could all-too-easily edit out the iconography. It’s very noncommittal.

My musician pagePersonally I think the "Canon" event concept works better in time travel stories than AU ones.
Like I can see Brainiac 5 trying to stop Flash from saving Krypton from blowing up because otherwise there is no Superman and therefore no JLA or legion . That's a pretty straightforward cause and effect. But here they have to add The Universe explodes if Stacy doesn't die as an external cosmic punishment to make the plot work.
