Could be a case of Exact Words, BTW.
"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."
I’m sorry? How so?

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Well, we will see! For now I return to my withdrawal and support the show as much as I can.
If I seem touchy about this, it’s because Scott Pilgrim was my favorite comic in high school, it was the last movie I saw with my best friend before I left for college… it means a lot to me. And now having these characters back is such a rush.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.![]()
the interview made it seem like they had both done everything they wanted to do with the characters and setting.
They didnt outright say "we'll never do a season 2, ever" it just more seemed like they acknowledged this was a lot of work, required a lot of moving parts to click together in just the right way at just the right time, and they're not interested in simply churning out more content.
Which, to me, is a good thing.
Did they say they didn’t have season 2 plans, though? Like did they say “we aren’t thinking about another season right now”?

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.…Right now? Specifically right now? (I’m sorry. I’m done.)
Honestly, it sounds like it was just the two of them writing. Sounds exhausting. If there IS another season, I hope they get a writer’s room.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Cool.
…But what did they say specifically? (okay, now I’m done)

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Grabinski: We’re not working on it. We have no official ideas. We put everything we had into this, and we think it has a really great ending that we’re proud of. I don’t make any plans in general. Maybe some day one of us will text each other an idea that’s really great for a Season Two. But for now, my entire brain and heart is in this thing, and just getting it out into the world.
There. I will drop it. I’m sorry.
If O’Malley decides to end the story here, I will accept it. But I would at least hope that Netflix continues with stories like this.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Episode 3, I think. The Ramona vs. Roxie fight in old movies ruled. And while I liked the whole show, only eps. 3-4 really did anything substantial with the idea of Romana having to confront how she ran away from her past relationships.
Is anyone else a little weirded out how the show handled Gideon? He was pretty fun in this, but he went from the most-evil ex. to borderline Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain.

Well, if we’re not going to get another season, I would at least hope that Netflix wants to keep working with the creators. Maybe a first look deal, or some other anime with Science Saru and big name actors.
Like, maybe Netflix can pick up Seconds from Searchlight?

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.Just because there aren't currently plans for a second season doesn't mean another one's impossible. I wouldn't expect one from Netflix, honestly, given how trigger-happy they are about cancellations and non-renewals, but if the anime is popular it's possible Netflix will ask for more.

Oissu!Let’s just see what happens. If one never happens, they apparently told the story they wanted to tell, so I’ll just let my withdrawal fade. But I would leave a season 2.
It will help if the creators want to do it and have a story they want to tell. And not just, you know, money.
And I don’t doubt Netflix would want more at some point. I’m sure they wouldn’t say no to a sequel to Cyberpunk Edgerunners, given how big that was.

You’re Gonna Carry That Weight.

It was the sequel hook at the end. It gave me hope… perhaps too much.
