On the page it says:
Another thing to note is that an author cannot directly invoke this trope. The whole point is that it's unintentional. The only way to directly invoke this is through other characters criticizing it via Breaking the Fourth Wall or a Show Within a Show format.
But, if you to the Playing with
page, you'll find where it says "invoked", which could just add further confusion.
If the Broken Aesop trope is never intentional on the author's part, it should be converted back to being a YMMV trope. Or, perhaps there should be a new trope called Unintentionally Broken Aesop.
After all, someone is bound to disagree with the entry, depending on what it is.
