Man, quite irresistible this game is. Also could motivate The Sims, alongside Paralives, for some competition too.
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔I'm incredibly late to deliver the news, but it appears that Life by You has been cancelled after multiple delays. I only discovered this after I found out that EA has no plans to make The Sims 5 and instead continue supporting The Sims 4 for the foreseeable future.
Bit of a shame, really, especially since this game's development was led by an ex-Maxis employee, and I was kind of looking forward to it. Alas, it was not meant to be (though I can sort of understand that making a life simulator on a similar scale to The Sims, especially the third game, is not an easy feat). At least we'll have Inzoi and Paralives as alternatives to The Sims, and I can only hope they don't meet the same fate as Life by You.

One thing to note about the success of Cities Skylines over Sim City, which is not to defend EA, is that Sim City utterly failed at launch.
The Sims 4, for all of its flaws, is successful and relatively stable. EA not making a Sims 5 and risking a catastrophic failure means that Paralives and other life simulation games will have a harder (but not impossible) time stealing the crown from the Sims.
Anyway, I remember reading the news about Life by You but I forgot, did they mention why it was cancelled?

We all remember Paradox's Cities: Skylines, a Spiritual Successor to the SimCity games. Well, now, Paradox has announced their own life simulator, called Life by You, developed by Paradox Tectonic and set for release as an Early Access title on the Epic Games Store this September.
It seems very ambitious, being a fully open-world life sim with no "rabbit holes". The Sims influences are pretty apparent, especially since the game's development is led by Rod Humble, an ex-Maxis employee who formerly worked on the Sims 2 and the Sims 3. At the same time, it also tries to be its own thing, such as having optional full direct control of the characters, either on foot or in a vehicle, and dialogue with certain characters via text boxes. The art style is...eh, but otherwise, Life by You appears to blow the modern Sims games out of the water in terms of features. And with the crazy amount of creation tools on offer, it looks like the game will also have a huge modding community.
