Ideally, fixing a redlink means making an appropriate page under that name, rather than removing it or replacing it with an offsite link. The latter remove the colour, but don't actually add anything to the wiki, and make more work for someone who eventually does.

Coming in late, but Weblinks Are Not Examples seems like appropriate reading here (even though that's more about ZCEs).

Today, in the Magical Girlfriend page, I noticed that on the fan works section, there were a bunch of red links to fanfic pages that don't exist. I decided to change them to link to the fanfics themselves, as is common on many pages that mention fanfics that don't have trope pages. I also removed the % % that blocked out the entry for Facing the Future Series as I felt it had enough context. When I checked the page later, I found that Kuruni reverted my changes. They said red links are okay and sent me a message scolding me for a Zero-Context Example. The last time I tried to fight reversions myself when I edited Avengers: Endgame, Doppelgänger Replacement Love Interest, and Doppelgänger Gets Same Sentiment, I got banned for a few days, so I would like to avoid that. I don't mind the zero context example being reverted, even though I don't understand why it is considered one, but are red links really okay? Everywhere else, I see fanfics link to their actual pages if they don't have trope pages.
