If the page inaccurately describes the trope, it could just be snipped with nothing lost.
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallThis trope has a hell of a history — The Second Google Incident started because this trope was reported for explicit content to Google (who does our ads), causing said ads to be pulled until we purged all of our porn tropes, articles on explicit works, etc. The P5 (which has since been replaced with the Content Violations subforum) was created as well around this time.
TBH if there’s still problems, we could probably cut this—though I assume that would require a TRS.
Mods, would a wick check be needed, or could this just be taken in? I might take this in if a wick check isn’t needed.
Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallThe pre-Second Google Incident version of the page
does focus heavily on rape, and as described in the link
, was actually added to the Permanent Red Link Club as a result of the incident, only being de-PRLC'd and the current version of the page created in 2016. I suspect the Playing With page is a remnant from the prior version of the page and can be safely cut without reflecting on the viability of the present trope page. (Especially with that "reconstruction" which... No. Just... No. There is no "reconstructing" rape, period. That shouldn't have flown at any point in the wiki's history.)
(Incidentally, we have a thread on Long-Term Projects about Playing With pages.)

Geez... I knew TV Tropes used to have a problem with cringe-ass shit, but I didn't realize it was so bad in the past. Kinda regret looking at that shit, ngl... the late 2000s were a different damn time.
But seriously, thank you so much to everyone responding so nicely about this. I'll be completely honest, I was nervous as fuck bringing this up because I've had bad experiences in the past with Reddit when I tried to talk about these things, so I'm very happy this wasn't a repeat of that. Very much appreciated <3
So, can the nasty-ass shit just be safely cut?
Mods, would a wick check be needed, or could this just be taken in? I might take this in if a wick check isn’t needed.
Er, nobody was suggesting we cut the trope. I was saying we should cut the playing with page.

…OK, that was a pretty big misunderstanding on my part.
Absolutely cut the Playing With page.
I decided to cut PlayingWith.Naughty Tentacles for being tasteless per thread consensus.
For future reference. We have a Playing With cleanup thread
. Locking up.

Macron's notes

Hey, I'm new to the site and don't really know how to edit a page well, hence why I'm asking for help here.
The trope Naughty Tentacles is specifically about tentacles being used in erotica; nowhere does the page itself mention rape, other than the fact it's included in the Sexual Harassment and Rape Tropes index. Yet 90% of the Playing With page has to do with rape. And then, there's this under Reconstruction:
"Tentacle rape is revealed to be safer and doesn't have the horrifying consequences human rape has (like illegitimate children, risk of disease, or everyone and their mother telling the victim that what they experienced is a fate worse than death.) and the women who live in the tentacle-infested world got used to it, even enjoying it."
I had read this line about a year ago, long before I made an account here, and it honestly really fucked me up. I'm someone who was sexually abused as a child and at the period in my life that I read this line, I had a lot of insecurities over my trauma and feeling like I was all alone. Needless to say, it was really upsetting for me to see someone justifying what I went through as "They'd enjoy it eventually."
Needless to say, this page needs some heavy clean-up - if nothing else, someone please remove that disgusting rape-justifying example from the page, cuz that was genuinely triggering for a rape victim like me to see. Again, I'd do it myself but I'm not confident enough in the ways of writing on this wiki in order to rewrite the entire page, otherwise I'd gladly do it.
And before someone says "You should've known what to expect, clicking on that page," again: NOWHERE ON THE ORIGINAL PAGE DID IT MENTION RAPE. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, and naturally it really fucked me up. And even then, it doesn't excuse the disturbing way the page is written, downplaying a literal sex crime.
I appreciate anyone's help on the matter.
