Was it ever on Saturday mornings? I remember it as part of the Disney Afternoon, airing on weekday afternoons.
Disney TV animation excelled at doing animated cartoon adventure, and Aladdin was right up there.
Hell, Mozenrath (if that's how you spell his name) was scarier than Jafar.

I recall that I watched the first episode of this series (I believe it was the appearance of Mechanicles) before I watched Return of Jafar, so I was left wondering what the hell Iago was doing there.
Also, even though I knew they recasted the Genie (Dan Castellaneta rather than Robin Williams) I failed to remember he was Homer Simpson until he actually gave a loud D'oh! in one episode.

I wonder if they did a Heel–Face Turn for Iago specifically so that they can keep him around as comic relief even after Jafar's defeated for good.
I used to watch this show all the time when I was little and I always believed that it was one of the best Disney animated shows to come out of the 1990s. It had a lot of action sequences and I really liked how they handled the relationships between the characters, especially Aladdin and Jasmine. I also loved the fact that Jasmine was a lot more proactive in this series than she was in the movie.
But, how come this series is not on Disney Plus?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I just saw this in my recommended
My strongest memory was the character Mozenrath who was basically "Aladdin but evil" and was kind of the David Xanatos of the show.
Also the episode with the "genie hunter" creature that had Genie terrified. Like more than when Jafar came back as a genie.

My only experience with this show as a kid was an official VHS-tape that had three episodes("The Prophet Motive", "Mudder's Day" and "The Sands of Fate"), which I watched a lot.

I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personIt's possible. I remember there was a period where this show was one of the Disney Channel's bread and butters and was on all the time - even into the 2000's. It was at least a part of most of the special blocks they had besides the Disney Afternoon: Princess Power Hour, Chillin' With The Villains, etc.

Yeah, it's possible that they felt the comically caricatured "Arabian Nights" Days setting would be too stereotypical and potentially offensive? Disney currently is carefully treading on the "wants to capitalize on their nostalgic properties but also avoid anything that could be seen as culturally insensitive" path.
x4 It's "fantasy Middle East," much as the Greece in Hercules is "fantasy Greece" and Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears is "fantasy Bavaria," and any story about King Arthur is "fantasy England." I don't think the charge that the setting is unrealistic is really a valid one, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. Hell, according to the text of the original Aladdin, all the action is set in China, a China that bears a surprising resemblance to the Middle East and where everyone is Muslim (and in fact, it was likely only set in China to indicate that it happened "far away").

inspired by this youtuber because I want to talk about this show, my strongest memories of this show are Jasmine getting transformed into various things, including most memorably a snake in 'Eye of the Beholder'
Funnily enough I almost forgot this show had two cat villains 'Chaos' and 'Mirage'
also its not on disney plus for some reason
