Old Magnificent Bastard thread
Welcome to the Magnificent Bastard proposal thread! This is the thread where new Magnificent Bastard examples are vetted, approved, and written up. If you're looking for the general cleanup thread (for cuts, rewrites, expansions, and the like), please go here
Important: Before suggesting any new examples, please read the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List; if you have any questions, the odds are high they are answered there. Additionally, please check here for the earliest date a work can be discussed (usually two weeks from the U.S. release date) and whether the work has already been reserved by another user.
Here is how the process works:
- If you have a candidate to propose, you can simply come right in and propose them! If the character's run is brief, such as a single issue of a comic book, then a simple summary of their actions and any potential mitigating features will be enough; for longer-running candidates, an effortpost (EP) might be helpful for organizing the proposal. An EP is not outright required, but please be mindful that if a post becomes too clunky and unorganized, it can be very hard for other people to follow.
- After the proposal, there will be a 72-hour discussion and voting period, where people may ask questions and vote on the candidate. The number of upvotes must outnumber the downvotes by at least five for the character to be considered "approved".
- Three days after the proposal has been made, if the character has been approved, you may post the writeup (the text to be posted on the trope page itself) on the thread and send it to the drafts page. Your candidate will soon be added to the MB subpage. If the work has a page, you should add your candidate to the relevant YMMV page. Voila! It's that simple!
Outside of this process, we do have a few ground rules:
- To keep the thread moving at a reasonable pace, there are some restrictions on when a proposal can be made. There should only be a maximum of four EPs posted both per page and per hour to ensure that nothing gets lost in the shuffle; additionally, each individual troper should only be proposing or writing up characters from a maximum of three works at a time (from initial proposals to end of their voting period). If your proposal would fall outside of either of these guidelines, we'd like to ask you to please wait until they would fit within; feel free to type them up on an outside document, and then when the time comes, you can just copy, paste, and post!
- No plagiarism of any kind. This is a very serious matter site-wide, as the website could get in actual legal trouble over this; as a result, this can very quickly lead to mod intervention. This can take many different forms:
- Direct plagiarism, i.e. wholesale copying. This is not only the easiest to find, but is also the most likely to warrant quick moderator intervention. To be clear, quoting in some places is perfectly acceptable, but it has to be very clear you're quoting from something else and it cannot be anything longer than a sentence or two - if you're quoting an entire work summary from Wikipedia, no one is going to believe you've actually consumed the work, so even if you cite your source, your candidate will be downvoted anyway.
- Self-plagiarism. Even if you can prove that you wrote the same text in both places, the site itself can't contain any of the duplicated text. If you already wrote something once before, it's not too hard to write it a second time.
- Using another site's work as a template for a proposal. Just because you don't copy and paste something directly doesn't mean it's any harder to detect if you're basing parts or all of your proposal on text someone else wrote. To be clear, this doesn't violate site rules and won't lead to mod intervention, but just like if you directly plagiarize, no one will believe you've consumed the work if you're clearly basing your proposal on something else. This thread largely operates on the honor system, and tweaking someone else's work to pass it off as your own is one of the fastest ways to lose trust.
- Don't delete an EP unless you intend to swiftly repost it. We know that there are reasons why you might want to delete an EP, especially if it's being downvoted - rejection is hard, even in a low-stakes environment like this. However, deleting it renders the current discussion null and void, makes it impossible to reference the discussion in the future and can confuse tropers who didn't read it before the deletion. If the issue is temporary (such as formatting problems or a post getting overlooked as the thread moves on), then deleting and quickly reposting the EP is a valid option, but to fully retract an EP, please use the [[strike:]] markup instead.
- Votes must be for specific candidates, meaning no blanket voting (i.e. "yes to everyone I missed").
- If you are the first person to downvote a candidate, please provide an explanation of why when you do so. We're here for discussions above all, and a hit-and-run downvote doesn't facilitate anything.
- If a work is already reserved by another user, please don't comment on the work or any potential characters worth discussion before the discussion date. We know how exciting it is when a work has a keeper that you're waiting to talk about, but it's not fair to the person who reserved the work who is just as excited to lead the discussion to see the discussion getting spoiled before they get to do it. On the other hand, if the reservation only has one name attached, shoot them a PM - they may be down for a collaboration, which will get you in on the fun as well!
- Please keep the thread on-topic. While discussing the trope is fun and we encourage people to enjoy it, questions like "who's your favorite MB" are off-topic and can lead to thumps. That's the kind of question to take to people's PMs if they're willing. Similarly, while we encourage friendliness and familiarity with other users, posts should always have some kind of thread-relevant purpose; for instance, if you want to wish someone a happy birthday, feel free to, but if it's the only thing in the post, it's off-topic and needs something else alongside it. Again, though, while we strive for a friendly atmosphere, this is not Facebook; life updates are fun, but unless they have some kind of impact on your thread participation, please do not bring it here - we have Yack Fest
for that.
- Please refrain from asking anything along the lines of "How Did We Miss This One?" In almost every case, the answer is simply "No one thought about it before". This Is a Wiki where everyone has different interests, and the fact that people missed a particular candidate, even one that seems like a textbook example of a trope or a character who is particularly iconic in pop culture, means absolutely nothing. The question is disruptive, has a simple and consistent answer, and provides nothing to any discussion.
- If you are suspended from other parts of the website, it is still possible to participate!
- For users who are suspended from editing the wiki, you still have full access to this thread. You can propose candidates and write them up with no issues whatsoever; while you will have to ask someone else to post the entry to the relevant pages once it is done, all write-ups are considered thread-approved - as in, done by consensus - and thus doing so does not violate any rules regarding meatpuppeting.
- If you are suspended from the forums, your participation is limited but not impossible. It is still possible for a forum-suspended user to assist in creating the write-up for a character who has already been approved; as previously mentioned, write-ups are inherently considered a consensus-based edit and thus not tied to any one particular user. However, you can not assist in the proposal of a character; as a proposal is based around the forum rather than the wiki, doing so with a forum suspension qualifies as meatpuppeting.
- Please keep all discussions "in-house".
- What other wikis use for MB equivalents is irrelevant here.
- Please be wary of using other wikis, Fandom or otherwise, as sources of information. They are just as fallible as a site like Wikipedia in regards to accuracy because they can be edited by any user, just as this site can.
- Do not attempt to force a communication with an author in an attempt to gather evidence or settle a debate; besides the fact that this is a YMMV trope and thus author intent has variable weight depending on the circumstance, doing so may cross the line into drama exportation, which is prohibited site-wide.
If you would like to use an EP for your candidate, here's the general format. This format does not have to be followed exactly, but these are the main topics that need to be covered:
What is the work?
This is a brief summary of the work you're going to discuss. We don't need a full plot summary here, just however much we need to understand going into the discussion — it can even be as simple as quoting the summary on the work's page.
Who is the candidate and what have they done?
This is essentially the character's biography — who they are, their story, their goals and methodology, and, preferably (though not required), what happens to the candidate at the end. It does not have to include every single thing they ever do — for some characters, we'd be here all day if that was the case — but it should include the highlights of their journey.
How are they Magnificent?
This is the point where you highlight the character's brilliance. How to they convey their intelligence and charm to the audience? What makes them stand out among the crowd? What are their goals and how do they go about accomplishing them? This part welcomes a lot of creative thinking — not everyone has to be a Machiavellian Diabolical Mastermind to be worth considering here! This is also the time to showcase how the character can think on their feet if it's necessary.
How are they a Bastard? How are they not too bad?
What kinds of moral lines is this character willing to cross for the sake of their goal? Are they willing to let innocents die? Start wars? Commit crimes? The character has to show some kind of unscrupulousness in order to count as a "Bastard". Notably, this character does not necessarily have to be the villain, and an Anti-Hero can cross the line if they're immoral enough, but they have to be immoral somehow.
This is also the section where you then state your case for why they're not too bad. Perhaps their good intentions help mitigate their crimes. Perhaps others are shown to be much worse than them. Perhaps they're prone to Pet the Dog moments or are even fighting on behalf of loved ones. Whatever the case, there are certain lines that an MB can't cross, but as long as their villainy is reasonable for their goal, they can be considered.
Final verdict?
This is where you post your final conclusion on the character in question. You can continue elaborating on your reasons or even just say a simple "yes" or "no"; at this point, we've heard everything we need to hear.
And that's everything you need to know. Welcome to the thread!

I don't want the world, I just want your half.
for Lime and LaBrea.
@username: I haven't seen the show but I'd start with the last sentence as it's a very large run-on.
@Master N: I like the writeup, but edits go to the cleanup thread.
Power, it isn't something that you put on or take off like a jacket. It's just something you are.- Grey Fox, real name Frank Jaeger, is a former member of FOXHOUND and one of Solid Snake’s most personal foes. Despising how the US government covered up the Outer Heaven incident, and feeling that he can only feel alive during the heat of combat, Fox partnered with the surviving Big Boss, whom he dearly respected, to secretly assist him in his plan to unleash Metal Gear D upon the world. Always one step ahead of Snake as he continually hinders his progress, Fox, feeling guilt for assisting Big Boss, simultaneously helps Snake in his mission, giving him warnings under the guise of a "big fan". Defeated by Snake and converted into a cybernetic ninja by the Patriots, Fox escapes his confinement and heads to Shadow Moses to have a rematch with Snake, using his stealth camouflage and blade to sneak past and cut up his opponents with ease, while also providing Snake with more hidden assistance under the guise of "Deepthroat". Fox ultimately sacrifices himself to protect Snake and save the world, redeeming himself after finally finding a reason for living.
Fox can go under Franchise-Wide.
It's Spooky Month!Fuck I never did the guy's writeup? In... almost 4 months.
- The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor: General Yang is a military leader determined to revive the Dragon Emperor and restore order to his chaotic country. As the mastermind behind the excavation of the Emperor's tomb, Yang manipulates the foreign office to ensure that Rick and Evey deliver the Eye of Shambhala to him. Upon reviving the Emperor, Yang demonstrates his unwavering loyalty to the tyrant by executing orders with remarkable efficiency, even in the face of supernatural threats. In his final moments, despite the impending horror of his death, Yang desperately urges his right-hand woman to escape and save herself from the grisly fate that awaits him.

What's wrong D-16? Rise up!
Yeah, when it gets to that point, that's a problem. >__> I know things happen and people get busy (I myself still gotta get into someone from I Am Your Beast) but at that point we need to start pinging people to do these write-ups.
I think doing what ACW does with someone posting the pending in the thread weekly would be a help
On that note...

Let's try to knock some of this off, people

Lately, I've been thinking about Bravely Default. My first successful solo proposal was Kamiizumi, but I included some of his feats that only happened in other worlds done by an Alternate Self. As listed under Complete Monster, Dr. Qada has his Fame Through Infamy moment despite the fact that it refers to a separate version of him. Would it be alright if I solely included a variant of a character from one of the other worlds?

for Nadia Nikulina and Lime. And LaBrea Avenúñez, I guess (that rocket thing sounds weird, but cartoon logic).
Holding off on Monster and Tomb Raider write-ups for the moment until my partners get to theirs but here's my others:
- Transformers (2004): Megatron is the ruthless ruler of the Decepticons, who has maintained his leadership for a million years through brutal war and treacherous lieutenants. Approaching his victory over the Autobots at the start of the game by using his new army of Decepticlones, Megatron learns of the existence of the Mini-Cons on Earth. Staging a variety of invasions to retrieve the Mini-Cons, Megatron challenges the Autobots to a final conflict in the middle of his volcano base. Even when he's defeated, Megatron retains his mighty stature as he chooses death over defeat by letting himself fall into the volcano.
- Hundreds of Beavers: The Master Fur Trapper has created a trapline throughout the woods, taming the forest and outsmarting even the wiliest of creatures to kill them for their fur. Taking Jean Kayak as an apprentice, the Master Fur Trapper shows him all his craftiest tricks and the best methods to ensnare the many woodland beings. When a pack of wolves attack the duo, the Master Fur Trapper fights them off long enough for Jean to get to safety, then faces death with a smirk and a wink as he passes his trapline map onto Jean in his last moments.
Alright, here goes a big one that I've been considering:
Intro: Bravely Default is a turn-based JRPG that revolves around 4 crystals, and once you activate all of them, a pillar of light appears and takes the heroes to another world where they repeat the process multiple times. By the time Chapter 8 starts, they're in the fifth world, which brings us to our candidate.
Who is Chapter 8 Braev Lee?
Braev Lee/Brave Lee is the Grand Marshal of the Duchy of Eternia, father of The Big Guy Edea Lee, and the (supposed) Big Bad of the game. He’s A Hero to His Hometown, feared throughout Luxendarc with the exception being Eternia, who see him as their Big Good. He used to be a cleric working in a Corrupt Church known as the Crystal Orthodoxy until he rose up and started a rebellion, overtaking the whole thing and becoming the new leader. In doing so, he installed White Magic cables around the city to be used for medical purposes, tracing all the way back to the Earth Crystal, its power source. With the Council of Six, Braev wages war with Luxendarc to spread Anticrystalism due to the belief that the Crystal Orthodoxy is too corrupt to have that much power.
His Alternate Self from the fifth world in Chapter 8 has all of these traits and then some. In order to subject the party to Training from Hell, he has all of his forces recalled and devises plans for groups of them to engage the party in battle, but orders them to not be too crazy and go overboard.
Magnificence?
When assigning orders to his henchmen, Braev gives a Rousing Speech that goes as such:
The different strategies that he comes up with give trouble to the party and can border on That One Boss (especially the one with Qada, Mephilia, Ominas and Yulyana). Notably, these fights use abilities that these Recurring Bosses haven’t used yet, creating a bump in difficulty:
- The first fight has Profiteur grant Jackal and Einheria BP so they can use powerful attacks without leaving themselves vulnerable. This ends up taking Awesome, but Impractical moves and removes the latter part.
- The second fight has the Mighty Glacier Heinkel tank your hits which is done to protect his much squishier allies Konoe Kikyo, Kamiizumi, and Holly Whyte using his Protect Ally skill.
- The third fight has Praline grant buffs to Alternis Dim, Barras Lehr, and Hayreddin Barbarossa. When she uses My Hero to grant BP, she doesn’t have to use her own as a cost.
- The fourth (and most infamous) fight has Yulyana, Mephilia, and Crowe cast fire magic on you repeatedly, dealing massive damage. Dr. Qada uses Fire Bane to make your party weak to fire attacks, overriding whatever you have that makes them resist it. Also, Yulyana casts Reflect on both parties, making it tricky to know who you’re supposed to use magic on. He can even cast Firaga on his party and have it reflect and hit a single one of your party members for 4x the damage that they would’ve taken individually.
- The fifth fight has DeRosa, DeRosso, Victoria, and Khint bombard the party with Standard Status Effects, such as Fear, Charm, Sleep, and Poison. In particular, Victoria has Exterminate, which can deal massive damage to poisoned enemies, and Twilight, which can insta kill anyone who’s asleep.
- The sixth and final fight has Braev, Victor, Khamer, and Artemia. Artemia spams her Multiburst, which hits the party a random amount of times across 4 hits. Khamer will spam Meteor to assault the party, which is Non-Elemental so you can’t use elemental shields to cheese this one. Braev himself will use Rampart, which makes his party immune to 1 physical attack each. These guys use lots of BP, so you’d think that they’d be open the next turn, right? Well, Victor uses Moderation, which grants 1 BP to anyone who has Negative BP and takes 1 BP from anyone who’s been saving up BP (Braev explicitly states that he’s “the crux of this group”). Combine this Khamer’s Hasten World, which gives 1 BP to everyone at the end of the turn (after Moderation has been used), and you’re in for hell.
Is he a Bastard? Too Much?
He’s still leading a war with Luxendarc to spread Anticrystalism, sending his Black Blades to support the Swordbearers against the Shieldbearers. He’s also sent his forces to other places. That said, the worst of Eternia’s actions have been dialed back; the King of Caldisla is never kidnapped, Agnes doesn’t seem to find trouble with Khamer, Olivia isn’t killed and just goes into hiding, and no one ever brings up the things that Dr. Qada has done.
Any Mitigating Factors?
This is just a variant of Braev, which means he’s made different decisions. Namely, he doesn’t suffer from Poor Communication Kills and encourages the heroes to do what they gotta do to save the world. He understands his place as the one who only helps the heroes and is not THE hero. He’s also not confirmed to have sent Edea to the Sky Knights in a failed attempt to reform them (other versions of him did that, and Edea either died or performed a Heel–Face Turn).
Final Verdict
Does he count? Up to you.

Okay, Process of Elimination does actually have a second candidate, so I might as well do her now. You don't have to do the what's the work thing if you already did in a very recent EP, right? Anyways...
Who is Downtown Detective?
Inumi Sanae, codename Downtown Detective, is probably the best manipulator in the game, even outclassing Gourmet and Doleful. She used to be a normal detective until her friend, Miyuki, was killed by the Quartering Duke. However, she learned the Duke's secret, that it was Suicide, Not Murder, and Doleful proceeded to blackmail her into becoming his assistant under threat of exposing Miyuki's true motives (as the Duke forces suicidal people who contact him to kill each other rather than commit normal murder). Rather than lament her fate, Downtown decides to join up with him, heading to Morgue Island with him and Senior, the third in the group, and releasing gas to kill a research facility on the island before luring the other detectives to the mansion. What has she done?
Serving as The Dragon for Doleful, Downtown is the poison specialist and is responsible for the massacre at the facility. She quickly puts on an act of Obfuscating Stupidity, acting as a dumb blonde stereotype while subtly influencing people behind the scenes. The trio began their plan by tying Senior up in sharp wires tied to the chandelier, while Downtown entered, triggering the trap and causing the chandelier to fall, which would kill them both (Senior's being especially brutal, being torn apart by wires) and end with Downtown looking like the Duke after they would search her body due to what she had on her at the time. However, Incompetent screwed up their plan on accident by arriving before Downtown, getting hit by the chandelier but ultimately recovering, leading to Senior being the only death there. Downtown quickly moves on from this failure, as it was Doleful's idea, not her's, before slowly building up her persona piece by piece. She used this idea people had of her to claim the doors opened weirdly because of poor construction rather than the hinges being bent, which ultimately proved to be incredibly vital in her later plans. Soon enough, she and Doleful realized Mystic Detective was far too smart for his own good and had to be taken out before he discovered them both, so Downtown created a rather complex murder plot before executing it. Essentially, since Techie had set up cameras everywhere, and she couldn't kill traditionally, she used her knowledge of the traps in the mansion due to being an associate of the Duke to lure the group into a trap room where spears shoot out of the ground upon the door closing. She then revealed a pre-prepared doorstopper and placed it in front of the door. Afterwards, she ransacked the fridge to get ice, and also to misdirect the group into thinking the Duke wished to starve them, before swapping the doorstopper out for a block of ice that would melt and eventually lead the door to swing closed again. After this, she planted some weak poison in a flower pot to misdirect the group into thinking the poison originated from there. She then took a different poison that was not only highly deadly but also caused one to be paralyzed after a certain amount of time and covered one of her nails with it, before deciding to "investigate" the trap room with Mystic and Posh. When Mystic found the secret passageway that was activated in the main room's fireplace, as expected, Downtown hugged him, digging her poisoned nail into him, using her pre-built persona as an overexcited dimwit to make it seem pretty normal for her to hug so tightly. After that, she swiped Posh's dPad while she was distracted, as she was well aware of Posh's arrogance and refusal to admit her ability to be wrong. This ultimately led to Posh realizing she didn't have it on her after Downtown already left, leaving her suddenly sprinting out of the room right before Mystic collapsed from poison, making Posh incredibly suspicious. After this, Mystic collapsed, and the ice melted, leading to the door slamming shut and spikes piercing Mystic, killing him. Downtown quickly ran to the bathroom to dispose of the poison on her nails before it could harm her, but got bad luck and ran into Incompetent coming out on her way there, delaying her significantly before she could dispose of the poison in the toilet. Prioritizing her alibi over replacing her nail, she ran to the living room to meet with Incompetent and Bookworm. This one maneuver left Posh the sole person to be both alibi-less and have been the last one with Mystic before he died. The group began to discuss the murder in the trap room afterwards. The only thing she didn't anticipate was Incompetent having the ability to see the future and ghosts and stuff, which led to him figuring out Downtown's trick with the door, which logically only she could've pulled. However, nobody believes him due to Downtown's masterful charisma and her very believable persona. Reminder that these are the best detectives in the country falling for Downtown's manipulations, even against the facts. Hell, Downtown even manages to debunk her being the only one who could by saying the culprit easily could've taken advantage of her simply trying to help by swapping the doorstop. Incompetent is able to keep pressing, but keeps failing to sway anyone, until figuring out the trick with the nails and remembering the poison he found in the toilet. Downtown scoffs at this, as there's no proof the nails were even used, but double unfortunately, Bookworm, Mystic's adoptive daughter, was also in the living room with Incompetent, and she happens to have a photographic memory, and saw Downtown missing a nail. Downtown seems like she's about to have a Villainous Breakdown... before just letting out a groan, annoyed at best. She casually confesses to murder, leading to Incompetent's anger at her willingness to simply throw lives away. She seems to feel some sort of sympathy for him, saying he reminded her of Miyuki in his optimism. After this, she suddenly releases a poisonous gas and demands everyone runs. While most do, Incompetent stays, not wanting to let her commit suicide in her own cloud of gas. Downtown realizes he figured out her true motive, to lure everyone away from her and the trap room so that they fail to find the secret passageway. Something to note, Doleful was looking for the passageway himself. The fact Downtown never told him implies she was actively scheming against him and sabotaging him, presumably because of him causing Miyuki's death. When Incompetent figures out the secret passage is in the fireplace, she congratulates him on figuring it out. Downtown then asks Incompetent to run before the gas kills him, but Rowdy and Armor suddenly pop up, and the trio beg Downtown to leave and not kill herself. She seems... confused that they would even try to help her, probably because she's been working with a Death Seeker convinced every suicidal person should have the right to death if they want to for years. She then laughs in a way described as "mocking herself", saying they're way too kind and it makes her want to cry. Right before her death, she gives Incompetent a hint. She tells him that she and Senior "died" while Mystic was "killed", creating a clear distinction that ultimately lead to the group finding out that the Duke relies on Suicide, Not Murder, before telling him to think about what those words really mean, asking him to survive while remarking on dying being scarier than she expected, before collapsing, proving herself honorable and sympathetic in the end.
Is she magnificent?
Even better than Gourmet, arguably. Her Obfuscating Stupidity fools everybody, and even when Incompetent catches onto her, it's because he has what is basically magic on his side, plus Ideal as a ghost mentor helping him. She devises the most complex and ingenious murder plan in the game, only screwing up due to poor luck (as compared to people like Workaholic, who forgot to consider the map he made, or Doleful, who took way too many risks too consistently that ended up adding up and allowing Gourmet to use her one opening to arrest him). She takes her defeat well, pulling a Hazy-Feel Turn while telling Incompetent how to stop the Duke.Is she a bastard?
Even more than Gourmet as well. She massacred a research facility under the Duke's order, murdered Mystic and traumatized his daughter, and released poison again in the manor, endangering the whole group if they ended up failing to find the secret passage. She's not a good person at all.Too bad? I don't think so. While she CLAIMS to be a Sadist, this is more than likely another act, due to the numerous holes in that. She claims to have hated Miyuki and that her death brought her joy, yet she also willingly worked with a serial killer to prevent Miyuki's name from being tarnished. Once alone, she shows genuine kindness to Incompetent, while comparing him to Miyuki at the same time. She insists she's a "whackjob" to the point it seems like simply the second persona underneath her first. The most logical thing to assume is that she genuinely cared about the other people in the mansion and wished for them to see her as some monster and avoid mourning her death. Besides, she never goes too sadistic, the worst she gets is remarking murder was "fun", she doesn't do anything brutal or petty.
Verdict?
I can see her being a tad more divisive than Gourmet, but

- Virtua Unlimited Project: Stor is an agent from Earth who seeks to increase NEO Babylon's potential as a civilization, all to give his home planet a prospective ally. To that end, Stor uses his ship's computer to hack into NEO Babylon's virtual world, predict future events, and produce a maximum authority key. In order to prevent NEO Babylon's leader Hungerz Ridley from interfering with him, Stor pretends to be a time traveler who received a key from the former in the future. While working for both NEO Babylon and the Chaos-infected Devitt Glock, Stor installs a backdoor into Kana Aizawa's Virtual Drive to create a Rioter copy of her, teaches Kana how to use Hyper-Computation to cure Chaos infection, and helps Glock organize Rioter attacks to steal resources for a doomsday weapon. When Kana tries to interrogate the clone, Stor uses the backdoor to paralyze them both and make off with the clone. After Glock publicly announces his plans to destroy the virtual world, Stor betrays the former by challenging Kana to a duel and relinquishing Glock's coordinates. In the Master Mode ending, Stor builds a gravestone out of sympathy for Glock, tells Ridley the truth about his mission, and returns to Earth, satisfied with the path that he placed NEO Babylon on.

Ok so until new episodes come out, this is probably gonna be the last AVA MB in a while. And he's likely gonna be the hardest sell out of all the AVA characters that have been proposed thus far.
What is the work?
Animator vs. Animation is a series of YouTube videos made by Alan Becker, around five stick figures and their adventures on the Author Avatar's PC. This one comes from Season 3 of the Minecraft spin-off.Who is the candidate and what have they done?
The Warden is a powerful, blind monster who's the first ally the Stick Gang makes in the battle against King Orange. But he didn't start out like this; at first, the Warden was a Gentle Giant that guarded a city in the Deep Dark, beloved by his tribe of Villagers. But, something happened to them, and he was left alone. As revealed in a Freeze-Frame Bonus in the season finale, over the centuries, the Warden started losing his memories as he grew corrupted by the Sculk. As he lost his eyesight, he started developing an extremely good hearing factor to make up for it.Following a climactic battle against King Orange, series protagonist Second Coming / also Orange winds up in the Deep Dark after falling through a Nether portal. The noise he makes winds up aggrevating the Warden, who starts hunting for him in an intense chase sequence until Orange is cornered. At the last second, he finds a book with song lists in it, and creates his own flute on the spot. The song he plays winds up being the same one the Warden's people played centuries ago; recovering from his amnesia, the Warden shows his gratitude towards Orange by sparing his life, and then agreeing to help in the battle against King Orange.
In the Nether, he does... exactly that. The Warden quickly sends King Orange running for his life, and even when he starts getting the upper hand, the Warden continues battling the king, essentially serving as the MVP who held up the whole team for the first half due to being that strong. He takes a backseat as stronger characters show up, until King starts killing everyone off. The Warden, as he's being sucked in, saves Orange's life by throwing him away before King can hurt him.
Thankfully, the Stick Gang is able to save everyone's lives by resurrecting them. The Warden says goodbye to Orange before joining Herobrine's Monster School, where he trains into killing players. He's since made like one cameo in a Season 4 episode and that's it.
How is he magnificent?
This is a very hard argument to made as Wardy is mostly just "the big strong guy who Attacks". But looking at everything, I think you can debate him genuinely having his own type of magnificence.- The Warden lost his eyesight in an undisclosed incident, and he adapted to it by evolving an incredibly good hearing system that lets him parkour and jump over pools of lava (as shown in the "Season 3 In-Real-Time" re-release), and hear well enough to keep up with incredibly skilled fighters.
- He also possesses a sense of honor, as he throws himself into a life-or-death situation against an Omnicidal Maniac purely out of respect for the one who cured his amnesia with a really cool song.
- He keeps up with the Big Bad Omnicidal Maniac who literally has God Mode on, showing some really good quick-thinking when he fixes his occassional Blind Mistakes, fights back from whatever King throws at him - including his own evil doppelgangers - and when he's dying? He uses the last few seconds of life he has left to save Orange from being killed, the same Orange who ultimately saved the world of Minecraft from destruction.
I also think the Warden is a similar situation to the raptors, the sharks or the recently-approved Omnidroid. The Warden's magnificence can easily come not from having a charming personality, but from the sheer coolness factor of being the nigh-unstoppable juggernaut who send the big bad running for his life, giving him his first proper asskicking and forcing Diabolus ex Machina to save his ass. That said, this is more of a bonus, as I think he counts from the pure honor, quick thinking in a life-or-death fight, and managing to find a solution that more or less cured his blindness.
How are they a Bastard? How are they not too bad?
The easy one to make. The Warden tried to murder Orange on their first meeting for entering his territory, and you can't just chalk it up to "he was amnesiac at that time"; after his redemption, he joins the Monster School where he's trained into being a perfect player-killer. You can't chalk it up to "he didn't know" either, because as shown in Season 4, three years later he's still attending. But I don't have to explain how he's not too bad; it's just another "kill the hero" act, with him teaming up to fight an Omnicidal Maniac.
Final verdict?
I will admit he isn't an easy case, but I think there's just enough magnificence for him to count. A slight- Transformers: Beast Wars (2021):
- Megatron (mir)
- Blackarachnia started out a Maximal protoform, until she was infected by Tarantulas’s Predacon code. She sets out to steal data files from a Maximal ship, before deciding to spread Predacon code to other protoforms and call their pods down from orbit. She uses her battle skills and trickery to escape and join the Predacons. Blackarachnia continues to be a cunning fighter among the Predacons, ultimately taking over leadership after Megatron is temporarily defeated, planning to salvage technology of the Vok to repair the Predacon ship and leave the planet.
- Tranformers: King Grimlock: Grimlock is a brutal, yet honorable leader of the Dinobots. Introduced executing a group of surrendering Meccannibals before being pulled to the fantasy world of Menonia, Grimlock refuses to aid the people who summoned him against the Golden One, setting out on his own. He uses his flamebreath to incinerate cyclops sent to capture him and joins forces with the young warrior Arko. Grimlock and Arko save the fishing village from Red Wizard’s wood-bots before Grimlock sets out to defeat him. Grimlock trains peaceful villagers and leads them against the undead army of Red Wizard. He learns both Red Wizard and the Golden One get their power from the planet’s energon and unites Arko’s people and the villagers he trained to face the Golden One. He has the Elders cast a spell that blocks out the sun in order to weaken the power of the evil god Soltron, encouraging the Golden One to fight against the god’s possession. When Soltron possesses Arko, Grimlock tricks him into entering the Dinobots' own spark, where Grimlock could destroy him. Grimlock refuses to become king of Menonia, instead working with Arko to create a portal back to Cybertron and continue to lead the Dinobots.

What is the work?
The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is a 2022 revival of the 2001 Disney Channel cartoon, The Proud Family. It follows the adventures of the black teenage protagonist, Penny Proud, as she deals with her family and, er, "friends." The series has a mixed reception among fans, mainly because of the issues from the old series not being improved and in fact being exxagerated, most notably, Penny's friends being unreliable and selfish. Not to mention the controversies caused by episodes such as "Grandma's Hands", "The End Of Innocence", and "Juneteenth."
Who is the candidate and what has she done?
LaBrea Avenúñez, appearing in "Raging Bully" is the charming but mischievous cousin of the snobby Alpha Bitch LaCienega Boulvardez. First appearing on a flashback as a chubby girl doing a silly dance making everyone laugh but LaCienega feel embarrassed, she visits the Boulevardez residence alongside her mother, Melrose, for LaCienega's upcoming Quinceañera, and LaBrea appears noticably slimmer than she was in the fashback. She happily greets LaCienega and her mother, Sunset, who does not get along with her sister, Melrose. LaCienega is not happy to see her.
When the two girls go to a hair salon with a reservation from Suga Mama's friend, LaCienega begrudgingly introduces LaBrea to them again. The girls (and Michael) are all impressed with LaBrea's good looks, and even new girl Maya compliments her, much to LaCienega's annoyance. When LaCienega deliberately picks a bad hairstyle for her friends so that she can look better in comparison, LaBrea suggests another better hairstyle. Later, the girls are practicing dancing for LaCienega's Quinceañera with horrible choreography that LaCi made up, causing them to start arguing. LaBrea yells at the girls to quiet down and suggests a better dance that easily impresses them. LaCienega gets annoyed at her cousin for taking attention away from her again and calls her out on it harshly. Penny tells LaCienega that she was being rude, even if it is her birthday.
At the end of the day, they go to LaCienega's house again, and LaBrea shows her mischievous nature by playing a prank on Lacienega, causing LaCi and Dijonay to fall onto a pile of wooden blocks they were playing with. Everyone gets a good laugh out of it except, of course, LaCienega, who bluntly says that it wasn't funny. Penny tells her it was a joke, but LaCi is not amused, and they go to bed. The next day is LaCienega's Quinceañera, and the girls are all dressed up. LaBrea goes to LaCienega=) and [[BaitTheDog seemingly]] apologizes for stealing her thunder, hugs her, and then gives her a gift... which is a frog that latches onto [=LaCi's face, causing her to freak out.
Oh, and here's where the "bastard" part comes into play. LaBrea then ties LaCienega to a rocket and sends her flying. When everyone else realizes that the birthday girl is gone and try to find her, LaBrea looks ashamed but stays quiet. She joins Penny and the others to find and save LaCienega. They find her in Oscar's failed amusement park hanging by her hair on a ride that looks like Suga Mama's head. They try to get her down to no avail, until LaBrea tells LaCienega to let the frog on her shoulder cut her hair. LaCienega does not trust LaBrea at first. LaBrea confesses to doing the deed and says that it was because she's jealous of LaCienega's seemingly perfect life, family, and friends.
Cue to a flashback of the two girls as toddlers, Little LaBrea is playing with a toy, while little LaCienega snatches it from her and says, "Dats MINE, Labaya!" (Whomever the toy actually belonged to is never made clear) Little LaBrea retaliated by having a bunch of birds attack Little LaCienega and gets the toy back, and apparently LaBrea's been doing this and getting away with it for years. After hearing about how LaBrea has been treated by Melrose, and is even wearing four girdles to make her look skinnier, LaCienega feels sympathy for LaBrea and decides to let the frog cut her hair. LaCienega falls from a great height that could have killed her, but, luckily, her dress puffed up and let her float down relatively gently. The adults come over and ask what happened, and LaCienega decides to let LaBrea off the hook and tells them that LaBrea saved her. After this, the two girls are shown to get along better, LaBrea embraces her curves, and even Melrose decides to start treating both LaBrea and Sunset better.
Is she magnificent?
Oh, definitely. She's both very smart and very charismatic. Even as a toddler, she easily pulled the most insane pranks against LaCienega with no one suspecting her. Even Penny, who can usually smell people's bad intentions from a mile away, didn't suspect her at all. Her plan probably would have been successful if her moral conscience didn't step in. And at the end, she manages to become friends with LaCienega, who despised her before. In other words, she managed to win the usually very unforgiving LaCienega's friendship despite previously being the one person she hated more than Penny. If that's not magnificent, then I don't know what is.
Is she a bastard? Too much of one?
While LaCienega was a pain in the ass, the way LaBrea got back at her, even as a small child was very excessive. It's not even made clear if the toy they fought over as kids was actually LaCienega's or not, but either way, LaBrea's idea of revenge was clearly overkill. As for the rocket thing, that could've killed her. LaCienega was extremely lucky she came out of that situation relatively unharmed. LaBrea isn't too much of a bastard, though because, not only did she have a Heel–Face Turn, but her pranks in general, while very brutal, were also fairly cartoony and hard to take completely seriously, especially since this show runs on cartoony Amusing Injuries. Like, Oscar would survive all of them easily. Also, she didn't necessarily want to kill LaCienega, just get rid of her.
Final verdict?
I'd say she counts, but since they're apparently making a spinoff show for the Avenúñezes, this may change. But what do you guys think?

When a hero uses underhanded tactics in battle, they're "smart". But when a villain does it, they're a "coward". Is this the society we live in?
