Episode 2: The writers are trying really hard with all the card game references. Also they’ve watched their fair share of super spy movies, especially Kingsman.
Wish all job interviews were as easy as Finn’s haha. They say his power is just shooting in a straight line, but we also see him creating bullets out of thin air, so it’s probably more accurate to say he has a magic gun with vague gun-related powers.
Absolutely loving the ED where they’re all just doing a road trip karaoke session. Dorks.
Episode 3: Is somewhat rough. They tried to write Leo as a pragmatic, tsundere rich boy but his personality comes off as a needlessly prickly mess. And I’m not sure about the slapstick. The villain of the week was also a bit weird, I think the girl could have just taken the card as a sign of divine favor, no need to have the siblings worship that giant metal statue.
Action is still very flashy though. Like seeing the characters “break” the cards to use their powers. Never No Dollars reminds me of an ability from Joukamachi no Dandelion.
Episode 5:
The focus shifts to our justice-loving curious police officer Sugar Pease trying to make sense of what in hell is happening around lately. In her efforts to dig deeper, she ends up being the key to Doe's death in the hands of Ban Klondike, Doe's boss. Hell, she was even put in mortal danger, and that didn't even stop her inquisitive spirit! Will she learn that curiosity kills, literally...? We also see at bit of her boss Young's role as well, with connections to both Ban AND Theodore (Pinochle's head, and Leo's father).
I kind of didn’t like episode 5. I don’t think the more “serious”, dramatic tone really works for High Card.
Sorry but Sugar is really annoying. Being the idealistic newbie is fine but then she has to keep prattling about not being able to get her mind off things. She almost died and almost immediately bounces back. That was a bit hard to believe. Same goes for Finn who almost killed an innocent lady and a couple scenes later he’s calmly walking away, though at least in Finn’s case he’s seen some shit so his reaction was more believable.
Why did Ban Klondike decide that that charity party was the best time to off the traitor? So he’s not really hiding his mafia connections anymore? Does seem like he’s ready to turn Fourland into a warzone.
And now we also meet the Quirky Miniboss Squad. Hope that means tons of action for the upcoming episodes.

Not gonna lie, Episode 7 got me everywhere...
It came at me with Chelsea literally making Yaoi Fangirl's dreams come true by making Chris and Finn hold hands, and then, it wrecked me with glimpses of Finn's backstory and (for the rest of the episode), Chris's via hanging out with Michelle(?), Chris's sis with a terminal illness it seems... Love how the theme of lies wraps around this episode.
Next episode is probably going to be a big one since it seems Finn's backstory will be expounded upon...
Episode 7 was terrible. Somehow Chelsea, who seems like a normal girl, gets the better of Chris and Finn for three days. How?! The ways she evaded the two all seem so contrived, then the script had to tie her to the dying little sister plot, just so someone can give exposition about how Chris is keeping up a facade. Oh and they really should retrieve the card before Klondike smashes her up.
Finn’s flashback and how he’s forgotten his past makes me 90% positive he’s actually royalty.

Hopefully more info on the limited Drama CD products will have the anime music.
Episode 8: Oh, Mr. Apple likes Finn in that way. D’awww.
Unfortunately for our you man, Finn has gone to visit his home. Where Bobby Ball went to wreck him. Finn finally remembers what really happened to him in the past. I think we can safely say Finn is indeed royalty, especially since he’s had the 2 of Spades since he was a kid.
Two interesting bits of information from this episode: the one who sniped Bobby could be the weapons girl from the pilot, and you can combine cards. Bobby had a pair of threes; perhaps you can combine powers of multiple cards by forming classic poker hands.

Trying to find an interesting original anime for this year.
Turns out that this may be it.
Well... partly thanks to the jazzy OP.
I heard that a manga (this came first before the anime), novel and drama CD versions are being done.
