To-do list:
- Move on-page examples and wicks that would fit better under Loved by All to that trope, and leave correct examples under Universally Beloved Leader. Wicks are here
- Beloved ruler: 52.8% (28/53)
- Beloved non-ruler: 35.8% (19/53)
- Other misuse: 3.8% (2/53)
- ZCE: 7.5% (4/53)
I hadn't noticed that Tropers/underCoverSailsman had already done Hundred Percent Adoration Wick Check, but their results were highly similar:
- Beloved ruler: 56%
- Beloved non-ruler: 32%
- Other misuse: 4%
- ZCE: 8%
Wick check:
Much like 0% Approval Rating, Hundred Percent Adoration Rating is often used to refer to anybody who is loved by everyone else instead of just referring to a ruler. This wick check is to see just how widespread this issue is and see if a TRS is necessary.Wicks checked: 50/50
- Used properly - 56%
- Misuse: Not a ruler - 32%
- Other Misuse - 4%
- ZCE/unclear - 8%
The ratio of proper use to improper use is around 2:1, so a TRS visit may be needed to reaffirm what it's supposed to mean.
- Characters.Cave King: His subjects and followers on the island "Shoriel Reef" are all completely devoted to him, to the point that they begged to be [Tamed] by him.
- Characters.Freedom Fighters NEO Mario Characters: He has the "Great" moniker for a reason. Low context, but the character is a king.
- Characters.Sturmtruppen: The soldiers loved him. Not contextual on its own, but is in the folder of a character described to be an army captain. Assuming that's enough of a ruler, then...
- Characters. That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Rimuru Tempest: Creates a nation of various monster species all fiercely loyal and grateful to him. Speaking ill of their lord is a quick way to earn their ire.
- Characters.Utawarerumono: A very well-respected authority figure and leader. Her death triggers a nationwide revolt that winds up affecting all the surrounding lands as well.
- Characters.Warframe Grineer: All Grineer love their "Kweens". The whole empire got started when they began to serve them out of sheer admiration. By the timeline of the game, apart for a few genetically-defective specimens all Grineer are unflinchingly loyal to them, to the extent that those who are not (like Clem and the defectors of the Steel Meridian) are not actually considered Grineer at all.
- ComicBook.Superman Red Son: Readings Are Off the Scale: After Lex finally defeats Superman and Brainiac, becoming the leader of the Earth under one single power, he has an unprecedented and statistically impossible 101% approval rating. Although it's suggested that it might be a computer error... maybe.
- DarthWiki.Absolute Sword Strata: He's clearly the most skilled player in the guild, and nobody has anything bad to say about him. Leader of said guild.
- DarthWiki.Watchtower Grotto: The people of that country know that he is charismatic, intelligent, attractive, and that he is taking care of their basic needs just about as much as they would expect any king to. This translates to blind approval, which gets incredibly unfortunate for those who do know what he's really like.
- Fanfic.Cadance Of Cloudsdale: The Crystal Ponies adore Cadance, thanks to her caring nature and the past few rulers being insane, absolute tyrants, or absolutely insane tyrants. When the Crystal Ponies realize how upset Cadance is how their culture has no positive winter holidays, within an hour they draft a resolution to introduce a new, happy holiday.
- Fanfic.A Dovahkiin Spreads His Wings: Jon is downright worshiped by people of Skyrim, and for good reason. Pretty sure he's a ruler here.
- Fanfic.A Lions Duty: The people of Dorne and the Reach absolutely love Rhaenys. Even Arya sees her in a positive light after first meeting her. I think she's a ruler in this?
- Fanfic.Danny Phantom Lost Episodes Series: Dora has gained this after becoming queen of her kingdom, mostly because she actually treats her subjects kindly.
- Fanfic.Winter Storm: All the alicorn princesses are still adored by their subjects, and Cadance even expresses concern that she could get away with too much because the public is unwilling to challenge their leaders. The problem is that love doesn’t always extend to Shining Armor in his current state.
- Film.Secret Society Of Second Born Royals: Sam's older sister, the first-born Princess Eleanor is this in Illyria.
- Literature.Im The Evil Lord Of An Intergalactic Empire: Liam with his main territory's population. There is even a scene of people reacting positively to a tax increase, as it gives them hope for planetary development of newly settled worlds. The biggest backlash he received was for trying to ban a haircut. The population of planets Liam conquers are more of a mixed bag, considering his Leave No Survivors policy with enemy fleets.
- Literature.Tearmoon Empire: Due to some big misunderstandings, Mia is this to the people interacting with her. Low context, but the character is referenced in other examples as being royal.
- Literature.Heimskringla: Håkon the Good is so popular that “both friends and foes wept over his death and said that never again would such a good king come to Norway.”
- Literature.Truth In The Dark: Aerie-Smith, at least among his subjects.
- Pantheon.Support Magic: Potholed as "Popularity" in the folder for King Bradley.
- PlayingWith.Bourgeois Bumpkin: Bob belongs to nobility or even royalty, his family has a Hundred Percent Adoration Rating, and he still claims to suffer systemic mistreatment and "othering".
- Recap.Drowtales: The adorable Anahid eventually earns a massive following and her right to rule her clan by teaching compassion and forgiveness, and practicing what she preaches.
- Roleplay.Kon Ran: The Viceroy enjoys this, for the most part, among her loyal subjects.
- Series. The Gu Family Book: Lord Park had this among the villagers.
- Series.Roman Empire:
- Germanicus. Even now he is known as the greatest emperor that never was. This extended to his family as well, who was very popular as well.
- Caligula at the beginning of his reign. This changes once he sleeps with his sisters.
- Theatre.King Charles III: Prince William and Duchess Kate argue that their nigh-universal popularity makes them better suited to monarchy than Prince Charles, and indeed the only members of the royal family who can undo the damage Charles has caused to their reputation and royal brand.
- VideoGame.Starsiege: Emperor Petresun, and all that. Notably, this empire formed peaceably and with unanimous approval, with Petresun essentially putting the issue to a vote. The problems came later, see I Did What I Had to Do below.
- WesternAnimation.Hercules: Hades is resentful and envious of how the entire Greek pantheon gives his older brother Zeus Hundred Percent Adoration Rating while he is virtually hated and despised on Olympus. All of the gods are not happy at his appearance at Hercules' birth ceremony, and even his lame pun is met with scowls. But when Zeus makes a similar lame joke about Hades' workaholic nature, the entire pantheon bursts into laughter, and this causes him to find a way to overthrow his brother and become the king of Olympus.
- Characters.Friendship Is Magic Twilight Sparkle: Everyone on the show so far seems to like, or at least not hate, her. Her friends and family all love her, and the Princesses all think she deserves to be an alicorn. Everyone she knows seems to be on at least friendly terms with her, and she has a lot of friends, even if you don't count the rest of the main cast. Even those who were once her enemies, such as Discord, Sunset, Starlight and Chancellor Neighsay soon consider her their friend, while Trixie says she "used to" hate Twilight (and still sometimes enjoys getting under her skin). The only notable exception are main villains like Chrysalis, Tirek and Cozy Glow (who are hating her in part because she's so loved). (Personal relationships, not based on her status as a Princess)
- Characters.Pokken Tournament: The audience cheers for it in one of its win poses, and its high stance has it pose regally and charge the Support gauge faster, ostensibly galvanizing the support monster in question to help it more often.
- Characters.Where The Wild Things Are: All the Wild Things like and want to spend time with her but lay off in case they drive her further away. Max also warms up to her quickly.
- Characters. You Yao: Everyone adores him. Luo Zhu even insinuating that he may not even beat Elder Xu leads everyone to growl angrily at him until he meekly shows his support for Long. Not a ruler, just a hero.
- Creator.Fred Rogers: There are essentially two types of people. Those who love him, and those who have never seen his show. Yes, everyone loves Mister Rogers, but that's not this trope. Also, gushing.
- DarthWiki.Virtual Haddonfield: Almost the entirety of Haddonfield hold nothing but complete respect and love for Leigh, holding the good Sheriff in a deservedly high regard. Gary considers Leigh to be among one of the greatest men he's known and the entire HPD is completely loyal to the man. Leigh does have position of authority, but it seems like he's adored even by the people he doesn't have authority over, so...guess it goes here.
George Logan: It'd be a real cold day in hell when we don't have our boss’ back. And I don't see any damn ice.
- Fanfic.Elemental Chess Trilogy: Piper notes that Riza holds this status with the people in Central City because they pity her situation.
- Fanfic.Welcome To Tomorrow: All of the Uchiha clan adores their Akito-hime. The rest of Konoha is slowly but surely following, especially the children.
- Film. The Death Of Stalin: Svetlana is beloved by the people; Khrushchev and Beria both hastily attempt to monopolize her to aid their grabs for power.note While She's popular, the character page makes it clear she has no real authority. Those in authority want to draft off of her popularity.
- Film.Pixels: By the end of the movie, everyone loves the President and the Arcaders.
- ICarly.Tropes A To E: Amazingly, Fred very nearly has this. In "iMeet Fred", after Freddie politely says he doesn't like the Fred show and Fred reacts by saying he's quit making videos, Freddie becomes a social pariah who gets blacklisted from all of his clubs and regularly gets beaten on the street, and not a single mention is made of any Fred hatedom (and hoo boy does one exist in real life) praising Freddie or defending him.
- Manga.Barakamon: Handa. The island kids just adore their Sensei, which is a sentiment that extends to most of the villagers in the island. Even Handa's mom has to recognize just how much they love him and need him there. However, as a dejected Kanzaki finds out, Handa is special to the islanders, and much to his chagrin, this doesn't extend to just anyone that visits their island. He's not a leader, just a guy.
- Manga.Seraph Of The End: Shinoa and Mahiru. Not quite a rivalry either, but since Shinoa is The Un-Favourite it's a given she'd feel inferior to her genius, adored-by-everyone sister. She used to look up to Mahiru as a Cool Big Sis before she left her utterly alone, not even caring that Kureto had threatened to have her raped in spite this being a scheme to attract her attention.
- Theatre. The Grinning Man: Grinpayne has this from the crowds who see his shows.
- VideoGame.Disney Magical World: The player character becomes loved by all in Castleton for saving them from the ghosts, fulfilling various requests, running a popular café and generally doing whatever they can to make people happy.
- WebAnimation. The Most Popular Girls In School: Amberlynn, who is well regarded with warmth and positive input from just about everybody except Deandra, who doesn't know her since she's only been at Overland Park for two weeks. Even the warring cheerleaders and Van Burens stop to compliment her for "really deserving it" when she gets nominated for prom queen and subsequently wins third runner up. The only one who doesn't like her is Jenna Darrabond. It's likely that Shay Van Buren also dislikes her, considering in the video that is shown at the end of year party she drunkenly calls her a "fake-ass bitch".
- Literature. The Witchlands: Merik is absolutely beloved in the south of Nubrevna, with people throwing an impromptu celebration when he arrives in Noden's Gift. Less so in the north, though. A ruler, but only loved by some.
- Series. The Thin Blue Line: by Inspector Fowler at least, who is intensely loyal to the Queen, and mentions her in almost every episode. He orders a huge ornate crest with "ER" to hang above the front desk, which becomes known as "the er". If this character is the only one this fanatical, then it doesn't count.
- DarthWiki.Sweet World: People sure did love Hallaya. And Ubique sure was not pleased with it. No context for who Hallaya is.
- Literature. The Faerie Path: Surprisingly subverted, especially for such an ordinarily optimistic and cute series.
- Literature.Vive La Francewank: Lampshaded. France has had rather less civil unrest, though that was more due to charisma enhancement...
- Recap.Drowtales: The adorable Anahid eventually earns a massive following and her right to rule her clan by teaching compassion and forgiveness, and practicing what she preaches. Does it count if the character wasn't the ruler first??? Because that might be the case here.

Tagged the page.
You can't always get what you want.I too am supporting the Universally Beloved Leader.
Would Universally Beloved Leader/any name then just be The Good King but broader?
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailI think The Good King is more about the what the leader is like while this trope is about what the general public thinks of the leader.
You can't always get what you want.I would hardly equate a project manager or school principal with a monarch, but if The Good King is beloved by all his subjects (almost always is), he'd also be this trope.
No, which is why Tabs said if The Good King is an example of this trope instead of saying examples of that trope are always examples of this trope (though, as Tabs also mentioned, they usually are, so there is overlap). Examples of subtropes by definition have to always fit the supertropes as well.

You can't always get what you want. One is Morality Tropes the other is Admiration Tropes, these aren't related. The only common factor is being Authority Tropes.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupAlright, understood. Thanks.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailI like the idea of renaming it to "Universally Beloved Leader".
Voted for the rename because if we're going to look through all the wicks anyway, might as well.
Calling in favor of renaming. What are our options?
You can't always get what you want.Eh... I think we have enough names to add (plus Universally Beloved Leader already has plenty of support).
You can't always get what you want.Calling in favor of Universally Beloved Leader.
I'll go ahead and move the page, but I'm not going to do any cleanup yet.
You can't always get what you want.1967 wicks, which includes 597 redirect wicks.
Edit: Be sure to look out for uses that are YMMV tropes in disguise. Found some when clearing out character sheets for reality shows.

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI hope it's okay if I moved the latter to be a redirect of UBL too, just so that they could both be quickly viewed from the same wicks sidebar.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailGo for it.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWait no I take that back that's not as useful. Reverting, whoops.
Edit: Ah well, can't revert. Is fine ultimately.

Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailAlright, I've gotten the redirect <300. It's just most of Characters/ now. I could finish the cleanup myself, as I'd initially intended, but my brain is crying.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailLightened that load a bit more. Hopefully we can finish the redirect soon.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope Report<200 on the redirect now.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailAlso there were two checks done for this project (due to an oversight on my part). uCSailsman's has been archived but mine hasn't.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailRedirect is now in the double digits. Let's knock it out!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDewicked the redirect. Someone readded a removed wick in the minutes before I finished up, but I'm mostly confident that my re-removing it doesn't constitute an edit war since I was bringing it in line with wiki policy.

Crown Description:
It was decided to rename Hundred Percent Adoration Rating due to misuse in place of Loved By All (the former is for authority figures, while the latter is more general). What should Hundred Percent Adoration Rating's new name be?
Hooked a crowner for whether to rename. As stated, examples of misuse that fit Loved by All will be moved there regardless of whether the trope is renamed.
You can't always get what you want.
