I know we have our own Dreamworks thread, but I feel like this movie deserves its own thread.

Anyways what a fantastic movie. The wolf was awesomely intimidating, and secretly being Death to punish Puss for his arrogance and cavalierness was great. Jack Horner was deliciously evil, and Goldilocks was quite compelling on her own journey as well.

I really hope this movie does well, since I'm excited the far far away tease at the end!

Well the budget is only 90 million. So I except it to make bank. Dream works actually know how to budget their films?

Hopefully, there isn't much competition in the next couple of weeks except of Avatar.

Currently it seems like it has a box office of $58.6 million, which doesn't look good.

I just this movie with my brother and I have to agree. It was very colorful and energetic, which I was expecting. What caught me by surprise was the compelling characters and the overall story. Even some stuff I saw as a bit obvious, such as the wolf being Death itself was still effective in execution.

[up][up][up]Let me put it this way. If it weren’t for the tray in front of me, I would have given it a standing ovation. tongue (I saw it at one of those movie theaters where you can watch the movie and have a great meal at the same time)

Princess Aurora is underrated, pass it on.

[up][up][up]It was pretty awesome.

The animation, the plot, including the new characters and villains. Like Perro, including Gold i and The Three Bears.

What do any of you guys think of what would happen if a Puss In Boots 3 was ever made?

Just watched it, man it was great.

Animation was fantastic, Puss, Kitty, and all the new characters are great. The Wolf especially is incredibly badass and menacing.

It was not only my favorite movie of the year, but the best cat movie of all time!

While The Bad Guys still is my favorite movie, this movie really steps it up with everything. This is the masterpiece of the year.

Definitely. Great story, great action, great jokes, great writing...definitely the best animated film of the year, probably.

Woefully behind on sharing my thoughts, but I saw this movie on Tuesday before the New Year and...

I loved it.

And I'm still surprised that...

  • The Wolf/Death wasn't a figment of Puss' imagination and everyone could see him and hear his whistle. Or that he would just opt out once Puss understood not to waste his life or the friends he has.
  • Goldilocks and the Three Bears Gang are not nearly the one-note thugs that I thought they'd be. I was actually more invested in them than I expected.
  • Literally nobody used the eponymous last wish. Puss didn't use it because of what I just said earlier, Goldie didn't use it because the Three Bears are her family, and they managed to rip the Wish so that Jack Horner wouldn't get to use it.

And. Hey. If we really are getting Shrek 5 after all, then I want two things. First thing, keep using The Last Wish's art style because I can't give it enough French Chef kisses. And two, we better see Kitty and Perrito in Shrek 5. Or if not, then some kind of good explanation for their absence. They better not pull some "they had to go because their people needed them and they died on the way" nonsense. They're better than that.

Finally, here's fan art that I really like of Puss meeting a very different Pinocchio. See you can figure out their connection. Not only are they from two animated films dealing with the finite nature of life, but Guillermo del Toro, the man behind Pinocchio, executive-produced the first Puss in Boots movie back in 2011!

I hope that Death shows up in some way in Shrek 5. I know recurring antagonists are completely alien to how Dreamworks usually does things, but it would be cool to see how the likes of Shrek or Donkey deal with it, especially if he uses a different form.

I watched the movie and I was pleasantly surprised at how it turned out. I thought it was just going to be another generic movie but I got something really cool. It is cliche but cliches are not bad.

I hope that at least three or a few more spin-offs from Puss or Shrek will happen in the future.

One of the three I would like is Perrito, Goldi and the Three Bears, Mama Luna, or Death.

I mean we probably won't see Death because he only manifested because of Puss' hubris.

Yeah, Death only manifested because Puss was just that careless about life and death. After seeing someone waste eight of his nine lives (something Death already wasn't thrilled about in the first place), Death just got fed up and decided to take the last life personally.

Disgusted, but not surprised

Then Mama Luna is one of the possible spin-offs then.

I highly doubt that. She's just gag character. Not very compelling in her own right. I could see Sony doing that if this we're a Sony Spider-Man type universe, but I feel like it has slightly more cohesion.
