Old Complete Monster cleanup thread
Welcome to the new Complete Monster (CM) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.
If you're looking to add new entries, please see the approval thread
.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin any discussions on this thread, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List. Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a CM has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's CMs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here
) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread
.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any CM link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an CM link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved CMs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread
, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread
. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their CM equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.
Other than this, once again, welcome to the cleanup thread, and we look forward to your contributions!

I fully support Star, Mir and Agent. Well, in that case, I’ll pause the removal of Turkey for now, then I’ll watch the anime itself and if Hugin and Munin count, then we’ll return them. If Turkey is exactly the same as Ji described him, then I will still propose removal, since it is not easy here and if he is left, then we will restore him.
And yes, Fallen Heroes can be C Ms.

I support STAR's idea and think that's mostly all the ones needing chopping, except Prince Edward from Outlaw King; I mentioned a few pages back I got vouching for him from someone I trust, so he can stay.
No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!Yeah that's about right. We can have a proper discussion on Nicky later.
Also guys my write up

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Oh, looks good. I already took care of the YMMV and such for that.
And for the record, Rawlins and I think Barracuda are easily heinous enough. Rawlins for organizing the False Flag Operation, and Barracuda may not have as big a quality, but he gets by on sheer quantity.

@ Mr-ex777 Well, for one thing, Horus had a moment of regret before he died, and IIRC he may not have had full moral agency by the end. The Emperor destroying his soul to render him Deader than Dead was actually intended as a mercy kill out of sympathy for him being controlled by the chaos gods, making sure that they couldn't drag his soul back into their clutches.
There remains a foothold out of this mire — now climb.Alright, we've taken a week to narrow down G's list, and from that narrowed list I've now given a bit over six hours for any last minute vouchings. I'm gonna go ahead and start cutting examples from my list now - anyone who wishes to help out, go right ahead.

Wanted to suggest a rewrite, as I find this one goes on for about twice as long as it needs to and there's a better, in game title we can use for the character.
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories: Heishin is an Evil Chancellor and Evil Sorcerer of Ancient Egypt. As soon as he gets the ancient power of the Millennium Items, he attacks the palace with his soldiers, killing various people, including the Pharaoh and his wife, and mortally wounding Simon Muran, the Prince's tutor. When the Prince tries to escape, he threatens to kill him if he doesn't give him the Millennium Puzzle. The Prince shatters it, and is transported inside of the puzzle to the present day. When he returns, he finds that Heishin has destroyed much of Egypt and Simon Muran has died from his injuries. After defeating Heishin's top mages, he finds Teana has been kidnapped and is having her life threatened in an attempt to lure the Prince into a trap to kill him, but this is stopped by Seto, Heishin's own henchman, who sets her free and ends up being The Starscream. Heishin obtains the Millennium Puzzle and summons the Dark God, Darknite, and commands him to destroy the world and make him a god, to which Darknite responds by killing Heishin. Petty, selfish, and so obsessed with power that he'd attempt to murder teenagers in his pursuit of it, Heishin was a monstrous individual.
Suggesting:
- Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories: High Mage Heishin betrays the Amenhotep Dynasty with the power of the Millennium Items. Massacring the residents of the royal palace, Heishin also kills the Pharaoh, his wife and mortally wound the tutor of the young Prince. When the Prince returns after escaping Ancient Egypt to the present day, he finds Heishin has utterly razed the kingdom. Kidnapping the Prince's friend Teana and draining her life in an attempt to lure the Prince into a trap; Heishin ultimately hopes to use the Millennium Puzzle to summon the Dark God DarkNite to destroy the world and elevate himself to godhood.
Thoughts?
Idk where to put the other potholes from his old entry lol
Any reason why Terrormisu from Wario: Master of Disguise wouldn't count?
All I have heard is that she gets a shameful, but karmic defeat, and falls in "love" Wario at the last second of a bonus episode and is never seen again while causing starvation to an entire kingdom and trying to devour the souls of an entire world stuff which is unheard in the franchise. Like is that disqualifying enough?

Alrighty, after irreversibly fucking my edit history
, I've removed all of G's remaining examples from the YMMV's and media subpages. If I made any mistakes, please just fix them, to be completely honest I don't particularly care at this point. I'll make the changes I suggested to Former Complete Monsters and then trim down G's example list accordingly, and then we can consider this matter settled for now.
Edit: Both are now finished. I'm gonna do MB tomorrow.

He did Typhon from Immortals Fenyx Rising...? Huh. I completely missed that. I played the game when it first came out, so I could re-evaluate Typhon when I have an opportunity.
Sandbox.Former Complete Monsters says to being it up here so I'll give my two cents (as the only work on that list I know)
- Complete Monster: Lo Po Bia Ren, aka Yuga, is a member of the Royal Enforcement Division who was sent to kill a Princess of Jehad for giving birth to a child carrying her powers. Ren would set her house on fire while she's still inside, burning her alive, and when her daughter, Anaak Jahad, vows vengeance for her mother's death, Ren infiltrates the Submerged Fish Hunt Test and gleefully taunts Anaak about being her mother's killer. Defeating Anaak, he has his Bull capture Endorsi Jahad and tries to force her to kill Anaak. When Anaak and Endorsi team up, Ren attempts to kill the two, crushing Anaak with his foot. When Anaak and Endorsi are saved by Yuri Jahad, who proceeds to defeat Ren, he sends his Bull to kill Baam and Rachel, due to the former's status as an Irregular.
To contextualize:
- The assassination of Anaak Jahad Sr., who is a criminal by the setting's standards due to bearing a child her status doesn't allow.
- Attempted assassination of Anaak Jahad Jr., who as per above, is an illegal offspring and also has a national treasure in her possession, and being a huge Jerkass about it.
- Attempted murder of Endorsi Jahad on the argument of defending a fugitive.
- Attempted assassination of Baam and Rachel, who by their nature of Outside-Context Problem are extremely illegal to exist.
- Pretending to be a comic-relief character, then getting Curb-Stomped by a supportive character. Interestingly, he reappears 12 years later in the story only to be Curb-Stomped by Baam just to showcase at this point he's no longer scary.
I don't think he's heinous enough in a setting where human experiments or backstabbing teammates aren't uncommon. If anything, everything he's doing (aside being Combat Sadomasochist) is being a proxy of Emperor Jahad's regime.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupNoticed that the entry for Cyrus at Monster.Pokemon has an error that isn't present on the YMMV page. It says " at one point ordering a the hugely-populated Iron Island destroyed" (bold emphasis mine)
"It was the best of times, it was the BLURST of times?"Hello Everyone! I've noticed that Comic Books: I to Z contains an entry for Lord Mogra that's an exact duplicate of the entry on Ninjago's dedicated CM page. From what I've heard we aren't supposed to have the same write-up on two seperate Monster pages unless there is a specific reason, such as the unofficial Transformers (Marvel) continuation made by Simon Furman that's on both Transformers and Fan Works. Given that the sandbox for Comic Books: I to Z is going to get swapped this week, can I remove the duplicate entry from said page?

"The time has come for every last Shoppe... No! The time has come for the DREAM KINGDOM to bow down to me! Gotcha ! Hee-hee!" | He/HimBTW for Castle (2009). I'll vouch for this one
- "Pandora" & "Linchpin": Sophia Turner is a KGB sleeper agent implanted in the CIA who desires to bring the United States of America to ruin due to her side, the Soviet Union, not winning the Cold War. To this end, Sophia joins a group of like-minded individuals and initiates the catastrophic Pandora event by killing Nelson Blakely and Tracy McGrath while framing CIA agent Thomas Gage for her murders. Sophia then kills Gage and frames Martin Danberg for the crime before attempting to kill Richard Castle and Kate Beckett, while also having her accomplice assassinate the young Mia Ganghong so her father the Chinese finance minister won't pay off America's debt. This results in America's financial ruin and being unable to protect their ally countries, allowing their enemies to invade them and potentially kick-start World War III.
No clue on the others. But this is one at least is fine. Mind you I feel like the first sentence is Kinda weird so I'm going to suggest you guys let me re ep her as some details here are wrong.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."

That's more of a case by case basis, how they're played and why they fell plays a big part
