Old Complete Monster cleanup thread
Welcome to the new Complete Monster (CM) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.
If you're looking to add new entries, please see the approval thread.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin any discussions on this thread, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List. Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a CM has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's CMs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any CM link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an CM link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved CMs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their CM equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.
Other than this, once again, welcome to the cleanup thread, and we look forward to your contributions!

I uh don't think many people have chimed in on Brogan so I would wait.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Cut Bonnie.
Cut Bonie
Cut Bonnie.
I'm for cutting Bonnie as well, but her relationship with the Bear is also kinda vague, since while there is a note, where she called him a friend, in present time, whenever she sees him in the DLC she calls him "it" (like she secretly calls other animals, that she sees as potential "ingridients") and kinda consider him only as a "costumer", but at the same time, in DLC it is noted that she never goes after children and considers them cute, when children started to disappear, she was shocked as well.
Here is the full walkthrough of the DLC, for those interested:

MB Pending | MB Drafts | MB DatesSomeone needs to update the Administrivia.Complete Monster page to include the Substantial Plot folder, considering the SoYouWantTo.Write A Complete Monster page has this part of the criteria and many villains were cut due to the story lacking a substantial plot besides "evil character does evil things".
We uh did away with that. As uh it wasn't something the rest of the site was doing.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."x2 I think it's inside the Defined Motives folder.
Might as well as add hentai and Torture Porn in that folder too.

Hentai wouldn't be allowed anyway because that is site violation.

I found this on Untraceable
- Complete Monster: The killer quickly becomes this when he livestreams as he gets a kitten stuck in a glue mouse trap and it slowly grows weak and dies. Finding out that the kitten belonged to a man who tried to sell the glasses of the killer's victim because his suicide was a viral phenomenon doesn't really make his actions any more sympathetic.
This is on the main page so this dude doesn't sound like he counts at all...
- Revenge: The main Motivation of the killer: his father commited suicide after his wife died and a news helicopter captured the whole thing live. The news station was forced to remove it, but then someone filtered the video on the internet and it became viral, causing his son Owen to have a breakdown and having to be hospitalized under suicide watch. All the victims (minus Griffin) were related to the incident:

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah, scrap it.
That's an obvious Freudian Excuse.
- Complete Monster: Black Leclere, the titular wolf-dog's owner in "Batârd". He is a sociopathic loner who only buys Batârd as a pup so that he can break him. He is also a remorseless murderer, and the reason why his dog became such a menace. His final act before being hanged is to demand that his dog be executed as well.
Doesn't seem to be approved. Anyone familiar with the story?
Someone created Monster: Five Nights at Freddy's Fan Works. Needed?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsNo, cut with a vengeance.
Think you're tough because you made it through Lord of the Rings? Real men survive The Silmarillion.Though it's probably not a bad one if the Fan Works page gets too large again.

If no one minds I’m doing a trim for an older rewrite of mine; The Stalker from Pen Pal.
Here’s the current entry.
- In the original Creepypasta, the protagonist's (nicknamed "Dathan") nondescript, unnamed stalker manages to establish himself as an irredeemable monster despite never even appearing in the story proper. A pedophile who happens to receive a letter from the protagonist as a kindergartner as part of a school project, this man spends the next ten years obsessively following him; jealously murders anyone whom the protagonist is close to, even his cat; tricks the protagonist's senile old neighbor into letting him into her house, then cuts her apart because she was kind to the protagonist; runs over and steals the phone from a girl the protagonist had a crush on, pretending to be her while texting him, as she dies in the hospital; and finally kidnaps the protagonist's best friend Josh and holds him captive for two years, forcing him to change his appearance to look like the protagonist and doing other things to him that are not elaborated upon. Finally, he tricks Josh's father into burying him and Josh alive. When his crimes are discovered after his death, they scar the protagonist and those around him for life.
It’s nothing much just cutting out the bits of how he’s never seen within the story itself - I don’t see how it’s relevant - and switching out “the protagonist” for “Dathan”. Thought it’d make the entry less clunky.
- Pen Pal: Dathan’s mysterious stalker is a pedophile who happens to receive a letter from Dathan as a kindergartner as part of a school project, spending a decade obsessively following him; murdering anyone Dathan gets close to, even his cat; tricking Dathan's elderly neighbour into letting him into her house, and butchering her for being kind to Dathan; runs over and steals the phone from a girl Dathan had a crush on, pretending to be her while texting him, as she dies in the hospital. The stalker kidnaps Dathan’s best friend Josh, holding him captive for two years, dolling him up to resemble Dathan, and other things that are not elaborated upon, before tricking Josh's father into burying himself and Josh alive. Responsible for all the pain and horror in the story, the stalker’s obsession scars Dathan and those around him beyond measure.

"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."Should that stay on Web Serial Novels or is the entry based on the actual book?
Also, before cutting the Freddy's fan works sandbox, lemme ping ~Braz

Bonnie seems like a cut.
Is Brigan a consensus cut? For the reason should I put not heinous enough?
