Old Complete Monster cleanup thread
Welcome to the new Complete Monster (CM) cleanup thread! This thread is where we clean up or cut already-existing entries.
If you're looking to add new entries, please see the approval thread
.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin any discussions on this thread, please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List. Here, you'll find explanations of the criteria for the trope as well as our rules/procedures for approving and cutting candidates.
What goes through this thread?
- Cut requests. If you believe a CM has been approved and they do not count, this thread is where you propose their removal. To know how to go about this, please see the FAQ folder on the Administrivia page, where the process is explained in detail.
- If we ever need to consider cutting multiple examples without individually reviewing them (e.g. if we discover widespread plagiarism with a particular troper's CMs), the initial discussion will be on this thread and we'll then escalate to the mod team (as described here
) to get a formal consensus if we decide to recommend a mass cut.
- If an entry was put on the wrong subpage/YMMV page, you may propose where they should be moved to.
- Full rewrites of existing entries, including expansions, trims, and ground-up rewrites. If your rewrite is approved by the thread, feel free to add it to the drafts page so that other users can check grammar and the like before it is included with the rest of the weekly swaps.
- If an entry on a work's YMMV page doesn't match the entry on the media subpage, you can bring it here to discuss which entry works better.
What does not go through this thread?
- New candidate proposals - as stated before, those are done on this thread
.
- Unapproved wicks - if a Troper encounters either of these kinds of wicks, they can be cut with no approval.
- Any CM link on a non-YMMV page - as a YMMV trope, it should not be linked on those pages regardless of any cleanup effort. The only exception is if the wick is being used within the definition of another trope.
- If an CM link on a YMMV page refers to an unapproved character. If it refers to an approved character on any such page, the wick can stay. On the other hand, if the unapproved character being linked to sounds like they might have promise (and you don't feel like checking it out for yourself), feel free to mention it on the approval thread - someone may already know why they don't count, or it could invite a brand new discussion!
- Proposals for images, quotes, and videos of already-approved CMs - quotes and images are proposed on the approval thread
, while videos can be uploaded normally as they are screened for approval by the moderation.
- Crosswicking examples to YMMV pages - if an example has already been approved and added to the main page, you do not require any special permission to add the example to a work's YMMV page (assuming the work has a page already). If a YMMV page doesn't exist yet, then you can make it yourself, but either way, feel free to just add the example without asking.
- Small changes to existing entries - these can simply be done on a Troper's own prerogative with no approval.
- Spelling and grammar fixes.
- Pothole changes.
- Minor rewordings.
- Spoiler tags.
While these changes do not require any kind of approval, it is requested that should you make any of these changes, you do one of the following:
- Make the same changes on the relevant Sandbox page, then add the Sandbox to the list at the bottom of the drafts page. This will add the Sandbox to the weekly swaps and ensure that the edits end up on the relevant locked page. If the Sandbox is already listed, then once you make the edits, your job is already done!
- If you don't know how the Sandboxes work or simply don't have the time to find it, then you can simply post on the thread about the changes you made. Someone else can then make the edit on the relevant Sandbox and add it to the weekly swaps.
- Alternatively, you can simply request that the change be made directly to the locked page on the Locked Pages thread
. Members of this thread keep track of that one, so we will ensure that the changes are made in the Sandbox so that it doesn't get deleted during the next swap.
Again, these changes don't require any approval, but we prefer to keep the entries on the YMMV pages and the locked pages the same in order to avoid any miscommunication or errors between entries, so if you do make the change, we would greatly appreciate it if you could ensure the change is made on the locked page as well.
As a final note, we do not care what other sites have to say regarding whether or not a character counts. We have our own criteria and they have theirs for their CM equivalents; while they are similar, they are not exactly the same and should not be treated as such. Another site removing a character from their equivalent should not be a reason why a cut is proposed here, and if this is the case, it will likely lead to mod intervention.
Other than this, once again, welcome to the cleanup thread, and we look forward to your contributions!

He already has.
While both the book and 1996 movie versions of Agatha Trunchbull are approved, they share a write-up. I think 1996 Trunchbull has enough unique crimes of her own (Like Throwing Matilda in the Chokey because her father sold her a dodgy car, attempting to murder Matilda and Ms. Honey when they break into her house (although she didn't know It was them) and throwing another boy out the window and trying to charge at Lavender at the end of the movie, as well as breaking Ms. Honey's arm, which as far as I know, only happened in the movie and not the book) to warrant a separate write-up.
Here are the write-ups for both the book and 1996 movie versions (The book one is only slightly modified)
- Book: Agatha Trunchbull is the headmistress of Crunchem Hall Primary School who rules the school with an iron fist. Shying away from illegal caning, the Trunchbull opts for more torturous methods easily dismissed by parents as wild stories. A Child Hater extraordinaire, the Trunchbull subjects the children to near-fatal punishments, her favorite being "the Chokey" a refurnished cupboard laced with broken glass and nails. Out of greed, the Trunchbull murdered her brother-in-law for his inheritance and abused her niece, Jennifer Honey. A psychotic disciplinarian who prides herself with never having a childhood, the Trunchbull set the standard for sadist teachers everywhere.
- Movie: Agatha Trunchbull has all of her book crimes, plus some ones unique to the movie. When Mr. Wormwood sells her a dodgy car, she blames Matilda for it and throws her into the Chokey. When Matilda and Ms. Honey sneak into her house, she grabs her hammer-throwing equipment and hunts them down with the intent to kill them (albeit she didn't know It was them). When Matilda humiliates her for the final time, she throws a boy out a window (who is thankfully saved by Matilda) and charges at Lavender a few minutes later, intending to injure or even kill her. When Ms. Honey stands up to her, she threatens that she broke her arm once and can do it again.

Huh. I asked if I should remove Soul Edge's entry once a decent number of down votes had been gotten and was told to give it a day or two more for further discussion and deliberation, so that's what I did... only to find someone else had gone in and removed it during that time. That's kinda... I dunno... frustrating?

Also I don't like double posting. But thanks to a bug issues. Mobile users can't edit their posts.
anymore thoughts on Wilkes
. Like acw said he could maybe stay since this happened in a week but tbh I think Koss and co outdoe him.
I was mainly playing Devil's Advocate for Wilkes. If he stays, fine, but I won't be too broken if he gets cut.
Though question: You mentioned a guy who "Koss [implied] that the other dude had genuine mental issues"...is Koss trustworthy here?
Fair.

This is after Koss drops his nice guy act and goes full honest Card-Carrying Villain. Him mentioning how the guy couldn't control himself is not meant as a lie?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Hey so now that I've got new entires for the Black Rock Shooter franchise, I changed the tree a bit. Here's what it looks like now:
- Black★Rock Shooter franchise:
- Manga adaptation of the game by TNSK, White★Rock Shooter is the catalyst of mankind's extinction. Posing as an alien idol singer, W★RS has herself cloned by a scientist named Gibson while her forces attack the Earth. Gibson makes a failed attempt to kill W★RS after finding out about her appetite for her progeny, prompting W★RS to call for the destruction of the human race. She proceeds to kill all but two of the clones and beat one of the surviving clones, Nana, before falsely telling her that Gibson never loved any of them. Sensing that the remaining humans have found the final clone, Stella, W★RS orders her enforcers to kill them. She soon kills two defectors, along with their new human allies, and plots the destruction of the Earth just to spite a third defector. Afterwards, she forces another enforcer to kill Stella and Nana, promising her death should she fail or succeed. Confronted by the two surviving clones, W★RS strips Nana, fakes her death, beats Stella to near-death, mutilates her arm, and taunts her by spitting out the apparent remains of Nana. As their fight nears its end, W★RS asks Stella to help her conquer another planet and crush its people's wishes so she can rule over them for the rest of time. Cruel and self-centered, White★Rock Shooter would without hesitation or remorse kill anyone who she felt wronged her.
- Dawnfall:
- Lunatic is the artificial mind behind Artemis who was created to find and terraform planets for humans. Thinking it would be easier to force humanity to evolve for her, Lunatic decides to cause humanity’s extinction, sending her robot army to Earth, ravaging the planet and killing billions while also partaking in the slaughter herself. Lunatic also enables Smiley to find and rape girls to conceive an evolved human, with plans to repeat the extinction process on the newly evolved human race. Lunatic would later blow up the Moon, using the debris to devastate Earth and wiping out 70 percent of the human race before being defeating, while planning to complete her annihilation once she fully recovers 200 years later.
- Smiley is the leader of the Education Institution, consisting of humans whom Smiley brainwashed into finding and exterminating humans who refuse to evolve for Lunatic. Smiley also has the Education Institution find adolescent girls whom Smiley would rape to conceive a child he would deem “the perfect human”; Charolette was one of Smiley’s victims, whom he would have Lunatic convert into a pseudo-Hemiteos Unit. Smiley would also blow up a train cart containing Smiley’s victims before Empress could rescue them, while attempting to eat Empress when she insults him.
Anythoughts?
My sandbox of EPs and other stuffWell, we have this from the main quotes page:
Sadamoto: (chuckles) I wouldn't say I targeted them. There was a designated table for everyone in Crimson Lotus. I can't help it if some non-members stopped by for a drink. So at that point, I would say it's on them. Besides, wouldn't it make sense for a vengeful, hate-fueled killer to pile on a few extra casualties? The public is much more liable to eat up a dramatic story, after all.
Kaito: You're out of your goddamn mind.
