That was how it worked in the first game, too. Sekiro came out in March 2019; Fallen Order came out in November that year. I think that both studios were trying to figure out how to do fast-paced combat on a Soulslike template without a stamina bar and ended up converging on the same solution.
The difference is that Fallen Order (and from the looks of it, Survivor) doesn't reward breaking enemy posture with an instant finisher like Sekiro does (outside of the weakest mob enemies that you would've killed in 2-3 hits anyway). It just breaks their guard and gives you an opening to deal out a flurry of unblocked attacks before their posture resets.

One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer. How dare they tell us the Battle Droids are hilarious and then not play us a single line of dialogue!
Anywho, I like that they specifically turned to droids because they needed enemy types and variety that were difficult to make from just troopers or other organic enemies.
I wonder if you'll eventually end up befriending any battle droids in this one. Good! aligned battle droids tends to happen relatively often in post PT-era stuff, and I think Lucasfilm might really like the image of Jedi fighting alongside them.
That is also confirmed, yeah. We've known him and the Gen'Dai will be working together for a while.
He's the guy who says "how could you let the Republic fall tot his machine of an Empire" in the trailer. He's also the guy we see Cal find in the bacta tank in previous trailers and some of the official art.

At least in Legends Gen'Dai are one of the few species with lifespan surpassing those of whatever-Yoda-is; it's entirely possible the Republic's Golden Age is well within living memory for this dude.
Does anyone else think that the Gen'Dai sounds like Clockwerk?

Academy had a cheat code that cranked it up to maximum carnage, but it had arms/legs/heads flying occasionally even in normal gameplay.
