Not Thriving: Continuity Editing

(May also be Not Tropeworthy now that I think about it.)

Each of: Non-Linear Edit, Linear Edit, Online Edit and Offline Edit have less than 10 wicks and no examples due to being Def-Only (Non-Linear Edit isn't at Definition-Only Pages).

Each seem to go way into step-by-step technical details on film making and sound more like a RL Walkthrough Mode. Also, there isn't a good reason to keep them separate if they describe steps of the same thing.

Proposals:

• Merge all four with Continuity Editing as these are parts of the same process.
• If merged, keep it as Definition-Only Pages.
• If merged, rename.
• Move to Useful Notes/, as it's a guide to the film production.
• Rewriting completely or cutting may also be an option, as the writing is just a tautological Wall of Text and brings up very specific software.

Opening

I'm in favor of merging the subtropes with the supertrope. I could go either way on whether or not to carry the definition-only status over to the supertrope, but I'm kind of leaning toward making it definition-only. I'd also prefer to have this be definition-only instead of moving to Useful Notes because it's industry terminology.

The four indexed tropes do not actually match up with the definition of Continuity Editing. CE is about a style with certain rules, while the four tropes there are methods of editing in general, which can be followed without following Continuity Editing.

I don't mind the suggestion of merging the subtropes into a single article about film/video editing, but this would be the wrong name to use, based on what the term means away from our wiki.

We can change the name, then. I can't think of anything at the moment; I might try to think of something later.

Edit: What about Video Editing Speak or Video Editing Terminology, similarly to how we merged multiple Fora tropes into Forum Speak a while back, and will probably move some Blog Tropes into Forum Speak in the near future?

I confess that I've been neglecting to add banners lately... fixed that for the five pages this thread is for.

I merged the subtropes, but I'm not going to dewick yet because we'd need to move the wicks again after the main page is renamed if we did that.
