Opening has stunning visuals and aniamtion as usual for Mappa, music is just okay though. Might grow on me.
I did like the episode overall.
EDIT: hmm listening to the full version, I think the best parts of the song aren't in the opening proper. The full version is good.

@Black Yakuzu 94: Sorry for making a redundant thread. It sank just off the front page, and the post about it in the manga thread sounded like it was still theoretical.
One thing I'll reiterate is that manga spoiler in this thread should be strongly discouraged even with spoiler marks—people may have them off, or be reading the page with something that doesn't include them.
I've been rewatching the opening every time I boot up the Crunchroll app. It's just so damn fun watching these characters doing wacky stuff.
Pretty funny that on one hand, you have the classic shonen team − hot-blooded hero, dark brooding rival, energetic girl.
On the other…
Hot-blooded hero > "Thank god the porn is safe! Now to touch some boobs!"
Dark brooding rival > * kick to the balls *
Energetic girl > "Gimme blood, I’m hungry!"
One thing I also like in the anime is how discreet the music is, most of the time. A lot of scenes don’t have any, actually.

There was a decent amount of difference from the manga this episode:
- In chapter 2, Makima basically made Denji go on a sidequest to take care of the Muscle Devil. It seemed very oddly-placed in hindsight, so I get why it was left out.
- The rest of the stuff from chapter 2 was rearranged to make up for the above. In the manga, Denji and Makima's interaction went shared jacket->threatening her "pet"->catching him when he fell. In the anime it's threat->jacket->catch.
- Added: Makima doing Denji's tie
- Subtracted: In the manga, Denji's bathtub jamming had him singing that he's in a union and getting paid vacation. Maybe they thought the VA's humming was funnier?
- Added: Denji using up all the TP
Even if every episode doesn't get its own ending animation for its ending song, doing more than one for a twelve-episode span is still very impressive.

This episode ahhh so like, I really didn't care for the manga at this point of reading it. this episode might just have denji at his most obnoxious and unlikable, the whole I WANT BEWBS was old and kinda made me actively dislike him. It's understandable why he'd feel this way but that doesn't make for engaging or interesting. He was reduced into an ecchi simp this episode and Power's backstory I didn't care for. She was just really offputting and I didn't feel sorry for her really. At this point, everybody was unlikable, and that's a pretty big turn off.
The anime is an improvement through the use of sound(I liked the weird music during the scene when Power was remembering the cat) and the fantastic animation for the bat devil fight, which felt movie quality. I think it helps balance out what might be one low point of the show's writing so far.

Yeah the staff seems to really have a hard on for her, it's a bit obnoxious TBH.
But this episode was great! I animation was superb, even Ai's morning routine was aniamted beautifully! I love how they animated denjo running over the intestines while he fought the leech devil! The detail of him stumbling and slipping was great. The ending was a bit...cringeworthy but that's to set up next episode.
Also I found it pretty silly how Power and Neko were totally clean despite being inside the bat devil's stomach...huh? That was kinda jarring considering how close attention to detail mappa has done so otherwise.
My favorite moment was Aki stopping himself from knocking on Makima's door to check his hair and clothes.
Man, I pegged the Fox Devil all wrong. Though it was a freakier version of the Nine-Tailed Fox from Naruto (i.e. red with a gravelly dude's voice), but it's actually a white lady fox.

So with the series out and an inevitable influx of newcomers, here's an Anime thread to avoid spoilers from the Manga.
So anyone who's following, how do you feel about the series off the first episode?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.
