I'm good with "needs a page" before any reservations done.
Actually that brings up another point that had crossed my mind. That whole mindset "we won't police pages for misinformation or hold the thread's standards anywhere else". If ever seeing something that's obviously wrong on a character page, change it/delete it rather than leave it to be someone else's problem.
I'm not saying we should change the two week rule. I'm talking about if two weeks have passed since release but the troper hasn't said anything, how long do they keep the reservation? Like for an example it took quite a while for The Hornet to get an EP.

My concern there is that once the work has a release date, people who want to reserve it are gonna wait until 12:00 AM specifically on the day it's possible to reserve it, and that'll cause a lot of people to try to do it at once. "Once the work has a release date" seems like a very reasonable metric for me.

The thing is that some people don't feel like specifically creating pages for newer works, especially if they're relatively obscure, which is the only reason why I'm not onboard with that idea. I feel like "Once the work has a release date" is a metric that's far more manageable, consistent, and open, alongside not potentially leading to people dogpiling at once.
I say once the discussion date hits, they have 24 hours to say something, whether that's beginning a discussion or asking for a time extension. At three weeks, the reservation becomes forfeit. The only exception I can think of is the giant MMORPG's that have sometimes come through (like Elden Ring, which is freaking massive), at which point I would say a month is when it becomes fair game for someone else.

@Snowy That to me just feels like an extension of us encouraging people to be more active elsewhere on the site. If there's disagreements as to if a trope is present, that's up to the editors, not us.
Also a minor suggestion for this thread, someone who posts here frequently (like Star or War) should link to Thread Suggestions so people can find that page more easily.

Another thing I have been wondering if somebody does 1 EP for two characters and has enough for two writeups would that count as one or two eps?
Agree I think we should encuarage our member to be more active elsevere im not okay with uš making some rules that force them

Personally echoing the sentiment that "release date revealed" should be a fine standard of when reservations are allowed. Eliminating the "TBA" examples alone is gonna free up tons of things, and locking it down to needing a solid release date takes care of many issues at once. On top of the cap of 5 per troper? It leaves a plethora of upcoming things to go around in all directions, and avoids the exact issues with a solid "only reserve 2 weeks before its release" that STAR pointed out.

No! That is NOT Solid Snake! Stop impersonating him!I also say waiting until at least a release date is revealed.
I also feel like being more lax on fanfics makes sense.
I also don't think we should have to wait for a page.
I do wonder how does this work for say foreign shows that might not release in the US. Like say I want to look into the new Darna show which is likely to go for 100s of episodes with a hard to tell end date.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAgreed, my personal opinion is that if one of your reservations is something like a TV show? I don't think you should have to consistently call the newest episode or season when they get release dates. If you've called, say, House of the Dragon when its first season was scheduled to released? Then as far as I'm concerned, you should keep that for the brunt of the show's run. The nature of television also means that collaboration with others is far more flexible, since TV shows will often lead to more candidates for either trope.

Actually, if we're concerned about following wider wiki rules it could be "qualifies for a page under our prerelease rules"
