I'm starting a new thread to expand a policy discussion from here

We are considering clarifying our rule about Fetish Fuel and "pervy" troping to include Tropers pages. In other words, we would ask for the voluntary removal of any self-troping of fetish- or kink-related content. If someone is suspended and unable to edit their own Tropers page, or refuses to do so, we would remove it ourselves.
This isn't about kink-shaming; it's about complying with our existing rules about sexual content. We don't allow fetish threads on the forums and we removed Fetish Fuel from the wiki proper ages ago.
Consensus has already been established among the moderators and among the contributors to the moderation thread, but this topic is for general comments.
Please do not rush to report people, and do not harass other tropers. Nobody will be "in trouble" unless they blatantly refuse to comply with the policy. Rather, we would like to see self-moderation.
Addressing questions in the header post:
- "Simping" and shipping are not inherently pervy unless they get too graphic. "I ship Ahsoka and Anakin," or, "I have a celebrity crush on Michael Fassbender," are fine. Going into detail about what you'd like to do to them in bed is not.
- Author Appeal is also not inherently bad. If you really enjoy putting pencils in your work, share away. But if those pencils go somewhere inappropriate, please don't tell us.

Latest ATT really makes me think these kinds of reports should be regulated to always set to private or done through Report Page, everything besides "PM the troper about this thread" sounds like personal commentary. We do have "to preserve dignity of the troper" thumps.

I suggest sending a PM first. After that, using the Report Page function will send a message directly to us (the moderation) without getting hidden in the ATT queries.

By the way, I think we should remove lists of tropers who they had hit on (I found one with "The unabridged list of very beautiful female tropers [I am] hitting on or has hit on at some point in the past.", "The list of Tropers that have Succesfully Swooned to said flirting" and "The unabridged list of sexy fine male tropers [I have] inadvertently hit on at some point in the past.") Now, I understand looking for a partner and all that, and what they find hot is their business, but it doesn't seem like something worth bragging about here exactly? These do seem a lot more personal than just "I think this celebrity/character is hot", where you know the other side is practically unattainable. Plus it encourages romantic/sexual advances in a place which is not suitable for it or may be unwanted.

That is legitimately nauseating to find out. At the very least, it would be good to message them and ask them to remove it, or if that doesn’t work maybe message a mod?

To be clear, that user seems inactive and the page is old, but it still likely sets bad precedent and looks inappropriate. I'll use the report page function as suggested as they probably wouldn't have removed it themselves if I tried PM'ing.

Looks like they weren't on the site since about 2016, they were a Yack Fest regular. It's just a list of 12 other tropers the troper thinks he's flirted with. I think we can PM the page to Fighteer and he can discuss it internally if needed. (report page also works and I have missed that suggestion)

Dealt with. That particular troper hasn't visited in nearly five years so I doubt it's going to be missed.
Edit: In the future, just Holler these pages. There's no need to make a big fuss about it. Listing your "TV Tropes dating history" on your Tropers page is unacceptable, always.

It's fun as long as you don't start telling people what you fap to. I deleted my personal trope list ages ago because I felt that it was overly self-indulgent, and the practice tends to be widely mocked outside of TV Tropes, but that doesn't mean we're going to tell people they can't.

But is a Perverse Sexual Lust entry that mentions several characters which can be easily seen as an inappropriate (like non-antropomorphised dogs or children, but both fictional) worth keeping? I have seen it in the past.

If it describes the PSL that a troper holds for fictional characters, then yes, it should be deleted. Doubly so if it is about real people, but I hope nobody is that dumb.
