I mean, I feel like that applies to the musical in the first place, not just the movie. And since the musical gets away with it, why can't the movie?
Not showing her served a purpose; she doesn't actually really matter to Elphaba's journey.
There have been at least a couple of non replica productions of the musical that have cast an actress as Dorothy, so it's not totally unprecedented.
"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"The Super Bowl trailer:
It looks good. I have high hopes for it as a fan of the play.
Should we make a page for it?
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIf nothing else, the set design is absolutely gorgeous.
It's been 3000 years…If yall haven’t made a page by tomorrow, I certainly will.
If you need it, here’s the poster:

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I have a draft for the page going through the English thread right now and should have it up by tommorrow.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadAwesome. You might wanna remember to title it Wicked (2024).
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Well it’s gonna be a 2 parter. So maybe Wicked (2024-25)
Right. Looks like the mods want us to use Wicked: Part One.
I think someone beat us to it.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadI went with Wicked Part One from the jump because trying to trope more than one film on one page almost always creates a mess that would not exist if the page were hardsplit (e.g. redundant "in general" troping, moments pages with multiple pics, etc). Just ask this thread. It also future-proofs if they decide to can the announced second one for whatever reason, even if it's already finished filming.) I figured Part One would discourage an ugly softsplit, and using the year to disambiguate would be unfavorable because it's a two-parter.

BTW why does Ariana look so uh odd in this.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Because we’re used to her look in Victorious/Sam and Cat?
I dunno, it’s her first acting role that I know of since then…

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I think it is the eyebrows. They just seem weird to me, and I don't know why.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadYeah it's the dye that makes her face look really strange
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I personally think it's because she looks paler than usual.
It's been 3000 years…I mean, it fits with the Galinda look, where she's this overly-dolled up pretty bimbo.
For all we know afterwards she may be less dolled-up later on.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.The specific shade of blonde they used doesn’t really flatter her. Her eyebrows straight-up disappear in some shots.
How old would we say Dorothy is in the shots we’ve seen of her?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Would it be okay for me to make a WTH, Costuming Department? entry for the Glinda eye-brow thing? It seems to be a widespread opinion.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadTbh, I think it's less a costuming issue and I think it's a color grading issue. The shots I'm noticing it in aren't that great, but the eyebrows are an obvious point of that problem.
But that might be too technical of a point for the tropes page...
Yeah the real issue is with the lighting and coloring in the film.
Its too dark and poorly lit and that causes things to get missed that should otherwise visually 'pop'.
The story isn't about her buut there are people who will see a movie based off the wizard of oz if she appears
so they could well feature her anyway
New theme music also a box
