Spun off the main odd confessions thread; this thread is for odd confessions related to TV Tropes itself.
Excessive complaining isn't allowed anywhere on the site. Keep it out of this thread.
I felt guilty about having to remove some of the real life examples on Mandela Effect. I would not have removed them if they didn't violate site policy. I enjoyed reading those examples, and I'm sure the people who wrote them are not happy about them being removed.

Except in its current state, Grandfather Clause is a character trope that can't apply to wikis at all, because it's defined more narrowly than what "grandfather clause" means offsite for unknown reasons, since it refers to characters who are continued to allow using outdated tropes after they become outdated.
As for my confession, I'd be content with expanding it to mean what "grandfather clause" actually means, and updating the description accordingly and leaving it at that, with anything else being Yarded or TLPed.

I got a rock for Halloween.Cut, but added to the Trope Idea Salvage Yard (which sort of became a TRS thing even though it was originally designed for the TLP discard effort)
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallBack when I (on my old account) was a relatively new but productive TRS cleaner I decided to help out with a Baka cleanup on an earlier version of Wick Cleaning Projects that a former mod put together. The page said that most of the wicks needed to be deleted so that's what I was doing. I thought I was doing the right thing but then Fast Eddie tapped me on the shoulder to tell me to stop because Baka didn't mean anything and that it was definition only Fanspeak page. I said that was cleaning it up because there was a clean up project at the time. He said that that was absurd and that he will make post about it (forgot where). He also made a query on ATT with a link to my editing history because he wanted people to clean up the mess I made by dewicking Baka. I was really embarrassed by the whole thing at the time but I eventually shook it off.
EDIT: Didn't know that Baka was moved to Baka until now... I wonder when that happened.

Macron's notes
I feel that what he did was overkill. If I had a problem with the way someone was handling cleanup of a definition-only page, I'd PM them and move on. (Which I did when I discovered that someone was deleting inline wicks in addition to examples, even though we were supposed to keep the former and only delete the latter.)
Granted, the separation of Definition-Only Pages from other types of Example Sectionectomy is still a fairly recent development, and came a while after Eddie resigned, so it's not hard to see why misunderstandings occur, especially back when there was only one Example Sectionectomy page, and said single page was sometimes ambiguous when it comes to what's allowed and what isn't.

I got a rock for Halloween. For clearing recap pages' laconics, at first I removed those for series I was familiar with (Ducktales, My Little Pony, etc.) and I checked in chronological order of episodes.
Now for the rest that remain in the Liminal Laconics List, it's "find the first one in the automatic indexing list and go to town".
When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorI don't really see the point of Fridge Sadness when we already have Fridge Horror.
For every low there is a high.
Fridge Sadness is when you go "Awww man, now I think of it, it's kinda sad" and Fridge Horror is "Aww shit, now I think about it they're fucking screwed and it's horrifying". So the former is Fridge + Tearjerker while the latter is Fridge + Nightmare fuel.
Hell, before Fridge Sadness was a thing, I stumbled upon entries that are like "More like Fridge Sadness but"

CG for shortSpun off this post
in the meta thread.
I don't know if this confession is particularly odd, but when I came up with this ridiculous idea
near the end of last year, I wasn't entirely sure whether the other mods would allow it (though to be fair, the amount of time they went with was shorter than what I originally thought of). (Though since the site is held together with duct tape and twine, listing the same trope name more than once isn't possible, so redirects had to be substituted.)
Another confession is that even though Twiddler mentioned liking the idea at the time, I actually don't know/recall who's actually responsible for putting it into action (since I was just the ideas guy in this case).

I got a rock for Halloween.Maaaaan the urge to just launch this work page WIP of mine that's already at an acceptable state, but I haven't watched every video yet (it's not episodic but still).
It's either I build it up more and have more to crosswick at once, or build up the examples gradually and crosswick the new ones when I get to them. Decisions, decisions... and I don't have as much time as I used to anymore.
When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorI'm still not sure whether the "mine" in Quote Mine (and also Enemy Mine) is a verb or an adjective.
- Verb: you're "mining" for the parts of the quote that help make it look like the person said what you wanted them to say.
- Adjective: a reference to the phrase "emphasis mine", like when you're quoting someone and you decide to highlight a specific part of the quote. Since you're twisting the other person's words so blatantly, the quote might as well be by you instead of the original source, hence "quote mine".
In Quote Mine, it's a verb. In Enemy Mine, it's an adjective.
Sometimes I think someone's avatar colors how I see their personality, and if I find the avatar to look off-putting I'll end up being a bit more easily annoyed by the troper in question just through mental association.

That's not quite a TV Tropes confession because "quote mine" is a preexisting term
that we didn't come up with ourselves.
Then I guess when I had this Larry avatar
◊, the vibe I had was "Oh, this guy is... just some guy", which I don't think is inaccurate. (Also, avatar discussion outside the avatar thread. Take a shot.)

I got a rock for Halloween.Lmao, nah you change your avatar often enough that you've got a vibe all your own, lol.
Hm, avatars do partially influence my mental image of others (maybe somewhat subconsciously), but not the personality. How one writes has a bigger influence on how I perceive them.
Then again, I made Wednesday Addams my avatar for a reason.
When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the saviorThere's this one guy who is using an avvie of Weber, which gives me the impression that he's probably an obnoxious troll.
This joke is going to date itself the moment I change to something else.
Your melody still remains in this room and it ringsI should say that it's not all consuming; like I don't just see someone's avatar and decide "this person sucks". It's more that certain avatars just color the way I see some people's posts, and occasionally it's for the negative. -shrug-
Working on: Author Appeal | Sandbox | Troper WallTo me, avatars just tell me "this poster likes this work/character".
SING TO ME, LEND ME THE SONG OF BLASPHEMYI usually don't think much about what character it is, but if it's an image like them being caught mid-sneeze or some other non-photogenic moment, I find it odd.
My musician page

Slept an hour late (likely from mowing recap laconics) and somehow my brain wakes me up an hour earlier. What do I do? Mow more liminal laconics. When you're alone I'm reaching out to let you know that you're far from strangers, like the savior
