Cleanup Thread: MCU Character Pages

Let’s get back to the discussion on whether or not we officially make a page for MCU Yelena Belova. I personally agree with Starcrusher’s statement that not all characters over 40k need to have a page (Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is an example as I stated before as some pages become too short when a character gets a page) though when it comes to Yelena I’d personally vouch for it because it would shorten the allies page by a lot considering how that page is constantly under threat of having too many bytes. Plus I think it would make moving her to a future Thunderbolts page would be a lot easier when it gets made, we just need to fix the indexes of pages when it’s made.

I'm going to give my brief thoughts.

I don't see the need to remove tropes from anyone because of a soft reboot.

I don't think listing Peter's allies under allies is speculative because well we saw three films with them as allies. That is not speculative. That said I actaully prefer the friends and family idea. Seems neater personally.

I'm okay with Yelana getting a page. It helps the length issue and we know she is coming back and is going to get more.

We've stated before that immediately moving to give characters their own page just because they fit the requirements tends to cause more problems than it's worth. Until the Thunderbolts themselves get a page and Yelena can be successfully moved there, I think it's best we don't make her a page right now.

I don’t see the issue with a solo page for Yelena. Eventually we’re going to probably have solo pages for nearly every main character in the MCU if it goes long enough. And with thunderbolts coming out eventually if Yelena meets the requirements now then she will definitely meet it when the film comes out.

I put the Peter’s Allies section on the byte check and it only got around 40-42k bytes. If it passes 50k or 60k bytes let’s make it that sounds reasonable but now I don’t see the need for it because I don’t think it’s enough. Agreed?

Since we decide things democratically, let’s vote on whether or not we should make Yelena’s page. There’s 3 people in favor, how many are not?

Two actually. I'm certain both Starcrusher and myself are against it. Though we might want to ping them just in case.

I’m indifferent to a Yelena page. The main reason I was against the MJ page was because we were trying to decide if we should make a group page with her in it (which I still stand by personally - it gets the most amount of bytes off the page), and moving a solo page’s index location is easy compared to moving someone between pages.

Personally speaking, I’m curious about a potential Yelena character page happening.

Making the Yelena page. Tbh the reason why I agree with STAR’s point about how not every character exceeding 40K bytes should immediately get a page is because it is the reason why i think we need to bring it up when a character does get 40K bytes or gets near it because there are a number of factors on whether or not a character should have a page like the page size without the character. By bringing it up we can have a discussion on what to do with said character

Just one thing regarding Yelena's page: Why is it listed under the Stark Family page? Since Yelena was the last character to appear, shouldn't she be listed under Michelle Jones' page instead?

Oh it’s because if you look at the allies page in order The Stark Family’s folder comes first, then Yelena’s folder, then The Pyms folder, and then MJ. I’ll confess that it does look a bit weird to me

BTW considering how John Walker’s former rank as Captain is not in the topmost part of his page, should we also remove Emil Blonsky’s rank as Captain since he’s not a soldier anymore and is referred to as Mr Blonsky in She-Hulk?

So umm… Rocket now starts calling himself Rocket Raccoon should we move him back to the Rocket Raccoon page?

I’m a maybe on it. I don’t think it’s a spoiler, and if it’s his full name then yes. But if not then idk.

Edit: Thinking about it, it could also be a situation like Drax the Destroyer or Ronan the Accuser, and since we don't include titles if its like that then it should stay Rocket.

Edit 2: I’ve seen the movie and that’s his full name now. So yeah I’d say move it.

Speaking of Vol. 3, do you think we should move Lylla, Teefs and Floor out of the "Cosmic Threats" section? They may have been created by the High Evolutionary, but they were anything but threats.

Maybe keep the high evolutionary there along with his evil subordinates, but move orgocorp to either cosmic or companies with a link on the cosmic threats.

So I was going to update the MCU byte counts for the MCU pages on Character Specific Pages Byte Check sand box however those are a lot of pages and I was hoping some of you could help me.

I got an idea. In regards to moving Lylla, Teefs and Floor out of Cosmic Threats, maybe we could make a section on the Cosmic page for Counter-Earth and its inhabitants? The High Evolutionary's base is shown to have stationed on it in flashbacks, meaning Lylla, Floor and Teefs all technically lived there alongside Rocket when they were all under the High Evolutionary's...parentage, for lack of a better word.

We could also make folders for the Humanimals and other experiments the High Evolutionary created on Counter-Earth.

I like that idea.

Okay so MCU: The High Evolutionary was just made. It's big enough at 78,302 bytes, though I have doudts if my byte counted is working properly. However, this was not discussed anywhere. Also considering how recent the movie is, I would like to know if someone could give it a once over before we decide if we want to keep it.

I actually checked The High Evolutionary's byte folder a few days ago, and it was around 58,000 bytes. And given how he just continues to get bigger and bigger, I'd say he's worthy of having his own page.

If everyone's okay with it, I'll see if I can create the Counter-Earth section on Cosmic a few days from now. I can't do it tomorrow since I'm traveling, but I'll do it as soon as I can.
